Okay, first of all, it's realllly creepy that Yelp gave me a suggestion of what to write for a one star review (see photo), and that it's all Covid related. Seriously?? I'll never go to a Menard's again. Not only do their employees need to be educated on the existence of mask exemptions, they also just need a ton of customer service training. We bought a suite of kitchen appliances from them and nobody asked if we'd need them delivered. Of course we need them delivered! We had to go back inside afterwards to set it up. We asked an employee about a heavy item and if they bring it to the cashier for us or if we do. He just pointed at a dolly and said, "you do it yourself" and walked away. Such an ass. The "rebate" is a total joke. 11% back as store credit and you can't even use the credit for an online purchase?? Wtf?? Oh - and if you refuse to install the appliances you sell based on "safety precautions", you need to slash the price. People have to pay a contractor to install their Menard's appliances, give me a break! read more

Went online to get a door and hardware for it. Clearly showed 5 doors in stock and 2 sets of hardware at the Rapid City store. Drove to store. Nope. Had none, not even a shelf space for them. The door was marked special order. Bait and switch? Or is just poor inventory control? Had to order on line. Hardware could only be sent to home address, door only to store. Misinformed or just dishonest? I went in today and purchased wood pellets for my stove. When the gal rang it up I noticed the prices was $5.49 each. Six months ago , the price was $3.59 each (50% increase). When they loaded the bags for me I asked the person helping me ,,why the big price jump? She stated "there was a fire in Spearfish SD where the local pellets were made, now they have to purchase them out of state and freight is much more". Since I heat my house this way it was very concerning...So I went down the street to Runnings and found the old pellets from Spearfish at $3.49/bag. I ask the manager if he knew about the "fire " at the Spearfish plant and he said there was no fire and he was told Menards simply did not renew their business relationship with the local producer 30 miles away. This is wrong on many fronts I suggest people strongly consider not giving their $$$ to Menards.. read more

Boycott these smug tyrants! Upon walking through the door, I was greeted with "YOU GOT A MASK?" by a man who is clearly not a physician nor carries liability or malpractice insurance for inflicting bad medical advice. To cut the story of a wasted evening short, the VERY aggressive GM Mark, who has a massive Napoleonic complex brought my 6yo daughter to tears yelling at me. I never raised my voice, or cursed, or anything vulgar. He called the police on me, threatening to "chase me down to get my license plate number" if I left, further terrorizing my daughter. We waited patiently for the police, during which time the middle manager helped a man with no mask. The police arrived and professionally said, as a private business Menard's can discriminate against anyone they want. If Mark doesn't like your wheelchair, the color of your skin, that you're wearing hate symbols like a cross or a gun or an American flag on your shirt, Mark is allowed to give you the boot. I don't believe this interpretation of the law is correct, but I'm not going to argue with the two armed men called in to remove me from what should have been a peaceful and productive shopping experience. Mark bragged that he called the police at least once a week on patrons who aren't wearing a mask and won't bow to him. Mark also GROSSLY violated social distancing while trying his best to physically intimidate me, all while repeatedly fidgeting with his mask that was slipping off his nose while handling items customers will touch. DO NOT BUY Cabinets from Menard's. I ordered cabinets which were special ordered mid August 2016. Some cabinets were not wrung up, which should've been. Some I was charged for that I never ordered, the cabinet tech must've clicked the wrong ones. The worse is 4x now 2 of my cabinets were delivered and damaged each and every time. I still have yet to received my cabinet that I paid for 3 months ago. No one seems to care, or help out. Very frustrating. Worth a BBB Complaint with no remorse to do so. read more

Good products but the service stinks. "The Guys" who were supposed to help me find and lift a very heavy outdoor generator just pointed me to where it was approximately located and went back to visiting. I found it and barely lifted it into my cart, but at least I'm able bodied enough to do it. When I needed to buy the extended warranty I was told that I had to go back to those same guys....so no, I didn't buy it. I'll buy it online. I ordered a hot water heater from Menards. I was told it would be delivered within 3-4 days. This was important to me because until it arrived I would be without hot water. I even paid more than I would have at Home Depot. Now that it is ordered and paid for and the 3-4 days have elapsed, it is not estimated to arrive for yet another 9 days. That is 3 times longer than I was told it would be. They flat lied. read more

Went here today to buy an indoor weather station, ABSOULTY no help from employees, not one person asked if they could help me, they could really care less. I think they hire former Walmart associates. I started out in electrical , was told lawn and garden would have it, after finding someone that was done talking on their cell phone, she didn't know what I was talking about. Menards has improved some since when we first ordered our cabinets last year. The managers of the cabinets did their best in helping us, and after we got the damaged cabinet (all the same one) for the 4th time, they got free delivery to our house. The cabinet companies need to package the cabinets better so they don't get damaged in the process. Menards is still a great store for the most part and the prices are reasonable. Hopefully everybody else has better luck than we did with cabinets coming damaged. read more

A nice man named Bill, who works in the lumber department, was very helpful when it came to answering our questions. I like this place--they always have good prices and good selection--plus, they carry stuff here that I can't find in other places, or it is way more expensive elsewhere. Most recently, I bought a Christmas tree last week. They wrap it in fishing twine so it is easy to carry and to fit in the car.Usually I bring one of my sons so they can carry the tree for me,but schedules did not permit it this time. I was going to slog it out to the car, but they insisted on bringing it for me--way cool. I also needed a 5 gallon gas can, I had seen them at Sears and Target, but Menards was the least expensive.....I should have expected this. Menards makes it easy for me to spend more money here---I just always buy more stuff than I planned--I am sure this is their plan---they are just nice folks in a well-run store. read more

We have ordered windows and doors for our construction business and both times they have been the wrong items. Because of this we have had to wait over a month to start this project and it's really setting us behind. This is not the first time this has happened to us ether. When you're trying to run your own business and relying on someone else to get you the right product you would hope it's right the first time. We also have troubles getting help in the back courtyard area to pick up bigger items. I have giving this Menards a second chance but we keep running into the same problems over and over again. We would truly like to keep coming here because they do offer different products that you can't get around this area without driving a couple hundred miles. I'm not usually the type of person to complain but it's just been getting overwhelming since we use this Menards at least once a week. read more
