I really like Menards and I wish we had one in Austin. It's like Home Depot to a whole new level. I love browsing here for specials and sale items too. They always have something you need, and something you didn't think you needed until you see it there. Prices here are competitive, and sometimes you can score some good deals. They always offer that extra 11% cash back if you mail the receipt to them. And like most people I get excited to do that and put it on my to do list but I never get around to doing it. Bummer. Yeah my discipline needs work. But I consider this place almost like a one stop shop. Every town I visit that has one - in Michigan or Minnesota - I always get excited to see they have one and make it part of my trip. read more

Terrible customer service by the employees I encountered. Building materials offered assistance to get something but after waiting in the completely quiet store (it was nearly empty of customers) for their assistance that never appeared I left for greener pastures at the customer service oriented Home Depot. read more

I like the store. I shop there more than any other store because it has a lot for me and my rental home business. The rebates just make me angry though as I do not receive my money back 50% of the time. It feels like a scam and makes me go to Home Depot. read more

This is where I live on the weekends. Its got everything from hardware to clothing and tons of sporting goods. I get all my fishing/hunting licenses here and most of my gear. Also has a good lumber area, I purchased decking last week. Also the lighting dept is excellent, this is the best place to buy light bulbs in town. I was here yesterday and got ideas for building a fence, the guy in the building dept was very helpful. He gave me detailed costs and plenty of great ideas and info on doing the project. The cash register set up at this store STINKS! It is very customer unfriendly. It is set up so you have to unload your cart at one end of the belt, then run down to the other end and bag your purchases while the cashier simply stands there and scans. Meanwhile you are also expected to write a check, scan your card or pay cash during this time frame. Then you go back to continue bagging and the the cashier begins sending the next customers purchases down the belt. Why can't the cashier bag while you are paying? Why can't the cashier face you like they are happy you are there and not just an annoyance to them? read more
