I'm writing today to express complete dissatisfaction with the treatment in your Sedalia, MO store today. Me, my husband and adult children walked into the store, first time in over 6 months because we are truck drivers, we were talking and laughing with each other. As we got to the turn styles a worker approached demanding we put on masks. His attitude was unacceptable so my son told him we didn't see any sign because we just walked in and we're talking and didn't see any. He proceeded to be discourteous as he walked my son over to a sign at the door that says have to wear a mask. He was rude and what we consider a mask Nazi, someone who attacks instead of explains. We proceeded to tell him to get a manager. We did talk with the manager she was wonderful and courteous. I just want to express my huge displeasure with your store forcing your employees to be the mask police. Not only does this cause friction with the public but it makes your employees and customers get angry with each other. This makes the experience at your store unpleasant and not one where people want to return to. Menards has become our favorite store and this today makes me want to go somewhere else. I don't appreciate being harassed by employees to wear a mask that affects my breathing and speaking ability. As an older person it also makes it extremely hard to hear and understand people. On top of this having health issues with lungs and breathing wearing a mask could be deadly, but I was told today a medical excuse is not allowed in your stores. As a loyal customer I wish to encourage you to stop this horrible policy and get back to the kind and wonderful customer service we have enjoyed in the past. Forcing consumers and workers to become enemies is unacceptable and should have no place in a customer service environment. read more

I've been a loyal Menard shopper for quite a while , and I thought some of the ratings we're uncalled for until I went this morning to get some supplies for a cabinet I'm building for my Daughter while there I asked for some help in hardware Dept and the woman was not pleasant to put it nicely. She should of stayed home .There were not hardly any personal working or should I say helping anyone. When went to the checkout there was over15 customers waiting to check out and 1 checker working and one with a problem, out of 12 lines ,other associates just walking around. the 11% rebate program is a sham. I purchased $139.99 Halloween inflatable dragon online with Sedalia store pickup. Sent the receipt with rebate form as instructed 8/14/23. Got a rebate for other store purchase receipt, but not for the $139.99. No explanation. Now I see Menards has bad reviews all over BBB and Yelp. won't shop there unless they have a discounted sale price instead of rebate they don't honor. read more

I bought a defective lawn mower from the store the day i needed to cut my grass. Then i was told the inly way i could exchange it was to bring it to a certified lawn boy store to tel them they didnt punch a notch in the oil plug. Converting a carport into a mudroom and needed 11 windows. Mehnards was the only store in the area with them in stock at a decent price. Lowes had the EXACT same window for $110 more each. Ordered online without any trouble, drove to the store and was met at the delivery gate by friendly associate, my windows were waiting on a cart with my name on them! Was loaded and out within minutes. Brightly lit well stocked store with helpful employees, very difficult to find these days. read more

The management at this store is unbelievable. They are hateful, nasty, and rude. Their attitude is that they are "allowing" us the privilege of shopping in their store. No handicap appropriate wheel chairs what they do have don't have the ability to use alone. Need someone to push you. The electric one is never available if they have more then one person in the store asked the manager Joe Palmer to see if there was anything or one able to help me he said no that they have two electric carts but it was a lie, one is broke. He told me he had no one to help me again and said he didn't have to help me. So I was able to walk back to my car and was stranded in the store an employee came by and went back to Joe and told him I was in trouble and unable to move and he never showed his face to me again. I did see him and asked for his card after I had to call for help from home to bring my chair and come and get me out of the store. I saw a lot while holding on to the laundry soap rack till someone came to rescue me. There was 4 employees standing talking and laughing at the lighting department just across the aisle from me having a good time walked right by me stuck to the rack and never said a word to me. A young man from plumbing named Nick tried to help me but I was to the point I needed major help, he's the one that went for Joe and he wouldn't come check on me. I would have left less than one star if possible. DO NOT shop at Menards. Especially the one on Sedalia MO. Their staff is rude and not helpful at all. We purchased a gas powered power washer from them for over $400. We had previously used a friend's so we know we have adequate water supply. This power washer had no "power" and wouldn't even clean a simple sidewalk. We tried to return it within a week of purchase after using it once. Because it was gas powered we have to take it to a repair shop and attempt to get it fixed. That's right WE are stuck trying to repair a brand new item that doesn't work and NOT the store who sold it to us less than a week ago. They don't stand by their products. Stay away! read more

Witnessed an elderly gentlemen the berated, absolutely berated, by an employee for coming into the exit even though he parked in the disabled parking spot not far away. The employee said this was because of COVID, however the man had a mask on (even though it's not required by local ordinance or ahj). The only issue was that he came in the exit.... extremely disappointed in Menards and their poor response to this pandemic! As for me and my family, I'm over Menards! we looked all over kansas city for tongue and groove cedar that was rough cut, at menards in kc they told me that they had smooth tongue and groove but no rough cut, we took a chance and went to sedalia and went back to building materials and Andrew helped us he said all the smooth tongue and groove was rough cut on one side, he also walked the store with us to get posts and set up our shingle order for a brand that is outdated. best help in a lumber store in a long time, thanks to our new best store and worker read more

I am a customer of Menards but as of December 28 I will no longer purchase anything here and will also pass this information on to friends and family. There are other businesses in the area that we will patronize. As my husband and I were shopping, a very rude young man got in my face and dictated that I needed to have a mask on, which I dont like to do because of medical issues, but that was none of his business anyway. His approach was very demanding and unnecessarily rude. I had a mask in my pocket and if his approach would have been kinder, I may have put it on without creating a scene in your store. Had my husband not already had a cart full of merchandise I would have left immediately but as it were almost finished shopping and I was exhausted. I asked to speak to the manager, which he went to get, as I continued to shop. The assistant manager again dictated my masking. My mask was broken and he was going to get me one but I had to buy it (for 39 cents) which I refused to buy. So he handed me 2 for my husband and I. I realize a store makes their own rules, but, on the Menards app, it says nothing about masking, only follow social distancing recommendations. We complied with the masking from the masking police, only to pull it down under my chin, so not to pass out, which I've come close to doing, especially when my hypoglycemia kicks in (which he also refused to acknowledge). The only reason 4 star and not 5 is they need more then 2 handy cap carts , my dad needs one. But great service, they are more to help with making your house beautiful, then building it. I absolutely love this store, Yes some stuff is out of reach, yet I have always found someone able to help me. The prices are good and I can pick up some dog and cat items while I am there. The weekend lines at peak hours can be long, yet they seem to move rapidly. Clean restrooms and customer service is good, especially in the paint department. read more
