The service you request is excellent in help for homeless people or have been trying to survive. The value is great because in this time of need you need help from the right people that can take you where you need to be. The hardest thing for me not many can guide you or inform you the people to take you to temporary housing and then permanent housing. Majority of people are not aware of the process it is not instant and takes time for myself and my brother it's almost a year and finding out people discriminate on the homeless whether it's a racist issue or stereo types it is sad we need kindness forward to try to make a little impact of a smile and saying good morning no one is better than other but the true kindness of the heart is priceless. I have been going to mend since 2008 for the last 16yrs no matter homeless, shelter,or transitional living to now assistant living they are always here on this Conner of San Fernando & I have never seen them turn a anyone down no matter where you come from there here to help and help so many so many people in so many different different needs and yes they do meet every need with dignity when I had nowhere else to shower I could go there and shower and they had the best little clothing closest. I've donated a few times here and they look like they're serious about helping the less fortunate and needy in their community. Recently, I donated old baby clothes and toys and other household goods. Like all donations, it is a tax deduction and goes to help a family in need instead of Goodwill who just turns around and sells your donated items. To my knowledge they only accept donations on Saturdays, so it is limiting in that manner. I hope to do my part and donate here more often in the future. read more

I've donated to MEND and perhaps you'll consider doing so as well. A few years back I went to visit a senior citizen friend who was out of food and went to MEND to pick it up for her. I WAS IMPRESSED. There is no other place like this because its got an vision and eye glass clinic, a dental clinic, a heath clinic, a free/donation based used clothing store, a food bank, hot meals, and once a week showers for homeless, not to forget referrals for things like educational classes, ALL IN ONE BUILDING. They have a five star rating as a non-profit and TAKE NO GOVERNMENT FUNDS. If you don't have your U.S. citizenship yet, don't worry. If you are reading this and homeless get there on Tuesday morning early. Take the 224 Metro bus north on Lankershim or the Metro 794 heading towards City of San Fernando from Burbank or Sun Valley. Watch for the airport to the left and get off at Pierce. Get bus tokens to come back the next week. Get your breakfast, clean clothes, shower, hot lunch, groceries, feel like a human being again, and figure that someday when you're rich you can give back. When I was having financial challenges eight years ago, I was the last of fifteen lucky patrons who won a MEND'S lottery for practically free dental services. Since then, I have been a regular patient of both MEND's dental and medical services. Their dental doctors give me deep-teeth-cleanings every three months - to keep my "pearly whites" healthy and bright! Moreover, their vision doctors give me two comprehensive eye exams, yearly - with a pair of fashionable glasses to match. Although I am 62, MEND's health programs keep me looking, feeling and acting like I am in my mid 40's. My vision is excellent for my age; I've only lost six teeth and my health is above-normal. Moreover, I am proudly showing-off five, glowing dental-implants and am scheduled for one more. I love my visits to MEND. Everyone is robustly friendly and always speak positively, in Spanish or English - like a comfortable family. I can't help from being enamored with MEND's revolving staff and personally miss their fun when they are gone. They are also timely with setting my appointments, making advance courtesy calls, and following-up - even with my trifling concerns. Whenever I have had to wait, they promptly and clearly explain why and give me reasonable alternative dates. MENDS Board-Certified dentists, optometrists, ophthalmologists and opticians are all Five-Star specialists. They are supported by academically superior apprentices that are uniquely trained in their technical fields - with impeccable personal care and social skills. MEND maintains State-of-the-Art equipment and technologically current personnel. The MEND Doctors have Big-Fun in the clinic. You may have to endure some brilliant, esoteric music or videos when you are having your "mug" fixed. Therefore, I cherish my MEND Doctors, who heart-fully call me by name. Several stand out - like Dr. Susan C. Fredericks, Dr. Hale, Dr. Alvarado and Dr. Avocado. Watching and listening to them instruct their apprentices is extremely informative and entertaining - as they meticulously work as a team. In response to Arbi Z below. I am employed at Goodwill. I am a felon. No one would hire me because of my record. Goodwill hired me through the LA Rise program. Once I completed my 300 hrs they can hire you or send you back to Jessica and Arthur at the Job Center in Downey. Yes we sell what you donate but we need money to keep our 118 yr old co going and to pay people like me. I work hard and I have dignity now. Mend helped keep me alive the 3 and a half years I was homeless and in response to lady below they don't make you pay anything they just assssssk if you can make that donation amount. Sometimes one has to clear up the murky waters so others can see the picture clearly. read more

I love this place. They are definitely giving back to the community. They have a Christmas program where people can adopt a family and buy xmas toys for a family and donate money for food. They are very legitimate and do home visits to ensure the recipients of this program are in need. I also donate my used clothing here. They now only take clothing and shoes. Great place to donate & volunteer in the northeast valley. You don't have to wait around for the holidays to help people in need. I was made aware of what the Oraganization provided when I was referred but was impressed seeing it first hand. Big main facility, but be forewarned tight parking though. Mobile shower facilities are brought in on Tuesdays. Some volunteers have been contributing for many years. The resources are helpful in as many ways possible, from the food bank, to health/dental care, job and education resources, and thrift center. I came into Mend with a handful of my work colleagues - it's the holidays and there's nothing that feels quite as good as giving back to those who are less fortunate. From the second we got there, I was in awe of how amazing the facility is - there are 6 dental chairs fully equipped with interns, there's a Kaiser Clinic and Pharmacy and to boot - there's even a Yoga room! We were there to prepare for their Christmas / Holiday gifting - and proceeded to sort toys and get the facility ready to celebrate. Everyone there was an absolute peach and what they do for the community is absolutely wonderful; if you live near the area, please - do yourself a favor and donate a few hours of your time to this wonderful organization. read more

This is the best place in the valley to donate clothing and shoes hands down .. they amount of help they give to those in need is amazing ... every family &,Homeless families aswell as individual in need get clothing and food . It is a good cause, to help the needy and homeless. However, the persons in charge downstairs lack the people skills to work with humans. They have a paying job, not to assert themselves with power. Because some supervisors are there to pick up a check and provide services it does entitle to use their job to demonstrate the worse of them. And sadly they do it. 5 of the employees, all want to be charge. Too many chiefs. not enough Indians. Is this a government entity or county agency., whatever they are? It really demonstrate that when people have a little power, they tend to show their worst instead of their best behavior. It is sad. read more
