So one thing to keep in mind, and I'm just mentioning this due to some of the negative reviews I looked through: this is a nonprofit. In other words, it's not your like equinox or rumble or some other trendy elitist organization feeding into your personal desire for feeling of entitlement (2020 amiright). Rather it's a small cohesive community of awesome and kind people winning at life and helping each other be winners as well. Nobody is going to run up and shine your shoe as you walk in, but if you need tips on a workout or support picking up a new hobby of some artistic endeavor, or just want to be a winner and be around happy healthy positive people, then it doesn't get better than this place imho!

Our family of four joined Ladera Oaks 11 years ago. Our son and daughter started with swim lessons…read moreat a very early age and each rolled smoothly into the PSA (Peninsula Swim Association) spring and summer swim program which includes relaxed swim meets between other swim clubs in the area plus a relay meet and championship meet in late July. My son progressed further into the USA swim program which includes year round swim practices and more competitive meets around the Bay Area. This has enabled him to quickly integrate and do well on his high school swim team. He has learned valuable life lessons from swimming and has built great relationships with his coaches as well as friendships across several school districts. My wife joined the Masters swim program shortly after we became members. It has become a long lasting exercise routine with friendships which will last forever. We often bring visiting summer guests to the club to escape the heat and relax in front of the pool. The two pools at Ladera provide a clear advantage over other clubs since the lower pool is all about recreation and fun while the upper pool can be dedicated to more serious swimmers except on the occasional weekend time slots when they open the 3 meter diving board for fun and games off of the high dive. We frequently take advantage of the cafe or bring lunch in a cooler or have dinner around the BBQ. I routinely use the exercise room while my children are at swim practice or at a swim team social event. It has a sufficient collection of weight lifting and cardio equipment. We have not taken advantage of the tennis side of the club. I have many memories playing with my kids in the lower pool as they became more proficient and confident swimmers and divers. Now the joy is watching them win an event or relay in a swim meet. I am sure that these memories will last a lifetime in each of us.

We've also had our kids in the tennis program and they've done well. For us older folks (parents), we've been part of everything from the Masters swim program to twilight tennis and fitness classes. The pool, tennis, and fitness facilities are very good, though the locker rooms are small and very tired. This is getting fixed right now with a major renovation focused on the main building and locker rooms, plus an expansion of the fitness center. We were introduced to the club by neighbors across the street, who had joined when their kids were young (they are now 40+) and we can see why they have stayed members all these years. This club is more of a community and family spot than most - which is obvious especially in the summer with all the families poolside during the day. If you've got young kids, and like being involved with them, this is a great spot to get them into swimming and tennis. If you want a place where you drop your kids off at the daycare and work out, it's not for you. Lastly, here's a quick rundown of the facilities: - 25yd waveless deep lap pool (for adults) - 25yd shallower pool (for kids) with diving L and alcoves for toddlers that are 1' deep - 6 lit tennis courts with ball machines, pro shop, and tennis lounge - Fitness center with 8-10 cardio machines, free weights, and resistance equipment - Fitness classes and personal trainers available

This supposed to be an Adult Health Day Care, now with my mom having more health condition (heart failure and limited mobility), we have issues which we tried to address with them and they just won't address the issues or very slow to address the issues: 1. The food provided in the day care are salty, especially the soup and the oatmeal. When I reported that the food is salty for people with heart failure, they simply ignore and repeatly said they didn't add salt to the food. It's true, they don't add salt to the food, but if they are using salted butter for the oatmeal and using can soup broth for the soup, how much sodium those has. I even presented my mom's doctor's note that my mom need to have low sodium diet, it took several complaint before this issue was address. 2. The driver who pickup my mom is very rude. When he is late, he pulled my mom's walker and my mom almost fell if i didn't held her at that time. Today, he is supposed to come at 8:30 am. We were waiting outside since 8:28 am. He didn't show up till 8:37 am. THen my mom needs to go pee and we went back to the house to go to the restroom. In the mean time, he showed up. He probably was waiting less than 5 min, and when we were almost at the end of the ramp, he simply left without waiting for my mom. This kind of attitude toward elderly is simply an elderly abused. After several call, they sent another driver to pickup my mom. It should not have to be this way. 3. Health hygiene. As an adult health day care, they should scan everyone's temperature to prevent elderly people contracted illness. Last december, my mom got the covid-19 from the daycare, and our whole family got the covid-19 as well. The only person going out at that time was my mom attending this daycare. I was working from home. I ended getting the covid-19 as well from my mom. I am really disappointed with the level of service they have provided. The service has been good and degraded so much.

Like other Eichlers, the building is abnormally and deceptively low to the earth with a wide sturdy footprint. The post and beam construction allows for larger windows and long-lasting durability. On closer approach you begin to notice a masterclass in natural, intimate lighting. You cannot go into the Montessori space unless your child is attending but if you ever have a chance to go into and Eichler you will be shocked by how well lit the inside is and how different natural light gradients make the space feel large, light, and comforting. I took a picture of an empty room and you can see how awesome the natural lighting is. The pool has a newer clubhouse designed in 2018 that complements the old community center in design. It has more modern bathrooms and changing facilities. The pool has a membership fee but it is clean and well maintained. You can't access the interior publicly so not worth coming unless you are a architecture diehard.

We've been looking for a new swimming option, so I recently came by to check out Greenmeadow. In short it's a quaint neighborhood pool setup -- midday Saturday there were a few lanes blocked off for the lap swimmers while probably 2/3 of the pool was being used for kid and family play. There was a lifeguard on duty, but otherwise the feel was only a half-step more professional than a friend's backyard pool party. So that might sound like an insult to some, but the quiet familiar atmosphere actually holds a lot of appeal for me at this point (in contrast to say the Pacific Athletic Club, Decathalon Club, or other industrial-grade places we've been swimming at for the past few years). Associate membership runs $925 per family for the March-October season, so not insignificant, but reasonable if you're going to swim a lot. They are currently running a wait list of approximately one year. I haven't decided yet whether or not to throw our name on the list, but it's a pretty compelling option.

My grandmother use to come here to pick up her free groceries in the 90s and I had decided to volunteer to give back to my community. Bridget and Ms. Grant are just the most amazing women you can ever meet that takes care of the place. They both work so hard into providing essential needs for the locals and those who need food. Ms. Grant is in her 80s and that women is a soldier! She puts her heart into the place and will have you amazed with her stories. When I first walked into the place, I felt such a positive vibe and energy. You can tell this place has a lot of history which is priceless. This place gives out to the community ALOT. So what if theres random people coming to park here and doing what they do. It's East Palo Alto, what do you expect, it is part of the culture. They don't mean any harm. -_-
