Unfortunately, the person providing customer service was rude to me and I am not sure I will go again. They gave me a very hard time for unpacking a shirt. I understand the staff does not want to have to re-package the shirts. They should have provided more timely service then. The worst experience ever. We worked with Curtis who set up our wedding group number. 1. Curtis was supposed to order suspenders for us to come in and look at since they didn't have the color at the store, after 2 follow-ups, we called again and were told that Curtis had moved to Arizona and no one was in the process of picking up where he left out. 2. One of our groomsmen went into pick up their order and his name wasn't found in the system. We later found out that only 2 out of the 8 people that were supposed to be on the group account were actually added to the system. One of them being the groom that was listed as a groomsmen. 3. We only found out about the above because when our groomsmen went to pick up his attire, he was told they no longer have the tie we selected in stock and had to pick a new one. At that point we were notified and had them go through our entire order to make sure everything else was accurate. 4. We reiterated multiple times to the person who took over our account that only the suit and tie were required items from the order. Everything else (shirt and shoes that were another $150) were optional. Each groomsmen were told by separate associates that everything on the list was required and each of them had to go back and return items. 5. As part of the wedding group order, all accessories were to be given a 30% discount, several of our groomsmen were not given the discount. Not sure if this wasn't listed in the notes or what. 6. Lastly, I should have walked away during the first experience when Curtis used an obscene word when checking us out. It wasn't directed towards us but, being in the customer service industry it is not appropriate to use the word he had. All in all - will never go back. So I have to say I was impressed, i've never been to a Men's Wearhouse before and didn't know what to expect. I got there and found a well-dressed knowledgeable staff with tons of items in stock and a great amount of product knowledge. I had no idea at the time that everyone in the world buys a suit the day before Easter and I wandered in and well helping myself and around eight other people the sales associate did an amazing job. I got a suit and another outfit and it cost me less than a sportcoat the last time I went to Somerset, so needless to say I recommend this place highly read more

I will never rent tuxedos from Men's Wearhouse again. The customer service from this location was very nice and everything went off without a hitch. Except for the PANTS! Men's Wearhouse uses a zip tie sort of lock on their pants. Meaning you pull the tab and lock the pants in place. Well guess what mine was broken on my WEDDING DAY. So as I am going thru my photos of the wedding I have a ton of photos showing my underwear because their pants did not work. They should at least have belt loops so I could wear a belt. But their company does not do this. I was very disappointed and upset. Never again. Do not rent tuxedoes from Men's Wearhouse period. Piss poor design. read more

I thought I'd give any soon-to-be grooms out there the play by play on my experience shopping for a tuxedo for my wedding. I was set on buying instead of renting. I think every man should own a tuxedo at some point in his life and this seemed like an opportune time to pick one up. When I walked into the store I was greeted by the manager who directed me to their custom suit specialist, Norm. He was friendly and knowledgeable and we immediately jumped in to looking at the tuxedo options. He pulled a few of the designer brands out with the differing lapels and fabrics. I also asked him to show me a less expensive option for comparison's sake since he was trending towards the higher end designs. Sticking with a more quality product made perfect sense after feeling the less expensive fabric, FYI. I decided what I wanted and as Men's Wearhouse was offering their famous 'Buy One Suit Get One Suit Free' offer we started looking into the suit I might want. I found a blue slim fit Calvin Klein that I really liked. It was fairly pricey (but I know they inflate their prices during these promotions) but it fit nicely and looked great. The jacket fit well and didn't need any alteration, while the pants just needed a hem to shorten them up. We proceeded to finish up the visit at the register where I opted for complete customization of my tux. From the choice of fabric and pattern, both inside the sleeves and inside the main shell, to my own personalized placket embroidered onto the inner pocket, it was a nice option to have and I was excited for the finished product. I paid and was told that my tux would be made and back in the store in about six weeks, while my "free" suit would be ordered and back in the store in about 12 days (the following Wednesday). I was also told that there was "no need to call ahead" to make sure my suit was there...just come in and try it on. It's allegedly one of the things they "pride themselves on"?! Everything up until here was a 4-5 star experience! Once they had my money things started to slide downhill. I came in 13 days later and...no suit. The manager couldn't find it nor did they have a record of it. I was told to call Norm the next day to square away the issue. I called and he did eventually figure out the problem after a long wait on hold. They had mislabeled my suit, evidently, and put it back on the rack. I found this odd considering I had just spent almost a grand there, and WAS planning on spending a little more yet. Needless to say, Norm gave me the go ahead to come in for my fitting after they found it. Fast forward to that weekend when my fiancée and I came in so I could try on the suit and hopefully take it home. Norm wasn't around so I worked with Katherine (I think that was her name). I'll start by saying they were fairly busy and she seemed really really frazzled right off the bat. But again, they couldn't find my suit. They had misspelled my name on the call tag. WTH?!!! I was perplexed since my name was on the receipt....my business is/was obviously important to them, right?! I tried the suit on and the pant alterations looked great...but the jacket was a little baggy this time. I had her make some adjustments so that it would fit less frumpy and she seemed a little put-off by having to pin my jacket. Is that not in her job description? Once we were finished with that I went to change into my clothes. Rather than wait for me to come back out she shouted over the dressing room wall (which was full with clients I might add) asking if that coming Wednesday would work to pick up the suit. I followed her lead and answered. Why not just wait until I was finished changing I thought to myself... This visit was a 1 star experience. Fast forward again when I came to pick up my suit. Fortunately, Norm was there and squared everything away for me. I walked out with a gorgeous blue Calvin Klein suit and I was really pleased with the result. A week or so later I got a call to come in and try the custom tuxedo. Again, Norm was available and we walked through all the alterations (included in custom design FYI). I picked my tuxedo up last week and it's gorgeous! Colored stitched accents, functional buttons at the cuff, the custom placket...etc. I love it. My last step was to wait for my gift certificates to arrive so I could spend those on the tux studs and cufflinks. They have a nice selection FYI. Overall I'd give Men's Wearhouse a solid 4 stars and I'd also recommend working with Norm. He was pleasant and easy to work with each time we met. Expect a couple hiccups maybe? Hopefully the couple issues I ran into were anomalous but I'm pleased with the outcome. read more

For starters, this is a place to buy a suit. Why are people going here to rent anything, much less a tux?! As to my experience buying suits here, I have always had tremendous luck. My build is a far more exaggerated than most, 45 inch chest, 30 inch waist, 27 inch thighs, 20 inch biceps. Custom suits are my only option as recuts are far more expensive and rarely look as good. Custom suits can get expensive save for a few places online which claim better prices than Men's Wearhouse. However, those prices do not apply to men with athletic frames, and that's if they even accept the order after seeing my measurements. I received impeccable service and fantastic looking suits. The gentleman who helped me had experience suiting muscular men and took the time to show me different cuts, fits and how they would hang on my frame. He guided me to decisions which worked for me and my lower budget even though he could have easily pushed the up charge options. I have received multiple compliments on my suits and inquiries as to where I purchased them. One helped me land a contract offer from BMG Model Management. Once I entered the store to pickup previously ordered products, I was ignored by a fully staff store with zero customers being serviced. After which, I was talked down to in a condescending manner by the manager concerning my alteration needs, as well as being forced to wait an unreasonable amount of time for the tailor to assist me with same. I eventually decided to take the purchased tuxedo elsewhere and concentrate on purchasing a second tuxedo. That led to my having to almost beg the sales staff to do the job of finding me a second tuxedo in order to fulfill the special two suit/tuxedo special offered online, but that also was to no avail. As a long term customer I will continue to purchase known designers offered by The Men's warehouse only because your competition doesn't offer the same products and not due to your customer service, which lacks year to year. read more

If you're in the market to rent a suit or tux, whether you have a wedding/graduation/prom/whatever coming up, resist the urge to come here. Put the money towards a good suit that fits you great and you can wear over and over. It will pay itself off within 2-3 wears. The sales people here aren't interested in making you look your best, they are interested in selling things to you that you don't need so that they can get commission. This is evident by how upset they get when you don't like their selections - and by the way, although this place looks like it has a lot of selection, how come when I asked for something in my (common) size, they could only find 2-3 legitimate options, none of which seemed like a good deal? read more

We went here to get my groom's and his attendants' tuxes for our upcoming wedding. I'm a little premature in reviewing since we haven't had our wedding yet (and therefore haven't experienced the picking up, dropping off, and final stages yet) but wanted to review the initial experience. Overall it went smoothly, however we definitely felt like it was super-routine for the girl who helped us, and she was most interested in getting done as quickly as possible. I realize when you're renting and you're on a budget, personalization isn't going to be something that's all that possible. However, we didn't want to go in and order the same thing every other guy orders, and we felt like we were being pushed in that direction. When she asked what kind of jacket he was looking for, we asked what kind would best suit his body type. This is the way I shopped for a dress and the way you should shop for most clothes, no? What works on others might not work for your particular body shape. We inquired about the less-popular shawl collar, after reading online that it is well-suited to his body type, but she didn't have any jackets he could try on. We had to ask for different colors of vests too--she didn't even bring them out at first, assuming we'd just go with what everyone else chose (ivory, evidently). I was reassured when I heard another of the associates (a male) remark to her that we picked the best jacket for his body type. That made me feel a little better because I didn't really trust her judgement on it, I just felt like she wanted to be done with the consultation rather than pick what was best for him. I think we're reasonably happy with what we ended up with...we decided he'll buy a separate tie because the one that went with the vest he chose was hideous. I think he'll look good (who doesn't in a tux?) but that he wanted something that showed his personal style a little bit more that what we decided on. Setting everything up for groomsmen and dads in other parts of the country to order went well enough, though their system was having a few issues and it took longer than usual. If there are any serious problems around the wedding or with ordering (and I hope there aren't!) I will give an update then. Bottom line, it's ok if you plan on renting and are on a budget, but you get what you pay for. read more

I had my groomsmen rent tuxedos from this location in Royal Oak & everything was perfect. In fact, some of my wedding party came from Europe (had him go to a custom shop in Europe for measurements & then converted these with this location) and the service from Norm, Shelby, & team was above & beyond. I had a tuxedo custom made, as well as a suit & even bought a 3rd suit as the prices were very good. I highly recommend this specific location as Norm & his team do a phenomenal job. I just picked it up today after alterations, and the fit is excellent, no problems here. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful, I couldn't have asked for a better buying experience. twice i have attempted to use the mens wearhouse. irst for a tuxedo for a wedding i was in and second for a suit for my own wedding. both times i felt uncomfortable with the customer service. first of all, no matter how hard you try, you cannot browse in this store without someone following you around and offering suggestions. then, when you want help, if you don't like their suggestions it turns ugly. last time i was there is was actually told to try a different store because i was not impressed with the suits the employee was showing me. i won't ever return. i hope none of my friends use this place again for their wedding. love, juston. read more

I'm in the market for a new suit. I wouldn't go here. I was forced to rent a tux here for a wedding not long ago. It was horrible quality and expensive, and the staff were pretty awful. It was just terrible, and I will always remember this as I look at the wedding photos :-). Another time, my poor old grandpa was bamboozled by the over-aggressive sales staff. This place is awesome! I originally went to the men's wear house in novi and HATED it..... Customer service is poor and doing a return for something some on for for you is like murder! They will give you crap for it and make you feel like shopping at Walmart. But I needed my pants altered and the novi spot told me to come back later and basically refused. So I brought it here to the Royal oak location. The store manager (sorry I forgot your name!) was SUPER legit and cool. He helped me out right away and measured me up to get the pants to my liking. I brought the shoes and everything so I knew the pants were going to be perfect. A week past by and I decided to change shoes and was a little nervous about the fitting of the newly altered pants come pick up time for them the fallowing week. But these guys were so cool and being the rock stars they are, they measured me up again to the new shoes and did not make me feel like an indecisive person that I am.. Haha! So thank you guys for the major help! On top of my pants, I bought a vest elsewhere online to get a certain color no store could get for me but the best did not fit right. They measured that to my body and trimmed it down at the same time as my pants the second time and they both just perfect! And the alterations were cheap! Never would have thought to buy clothes here, I was always under the impression that is was where you would rent suits or a tux for weddings. It wasn't until I did come here when helping a buddy find suit rentals for his wedding that I realized this place had tons of stylish, modern, casual clothes! Recently I took a new job and I wanted to start dressing nicer so I knew where to go. What I really like is that they have younger guys who work there, who understand style, and that people have preferences on how they like their clothes to fit. Norm, Ray, & Matt really made me feel comfortable and helped me pick out some great pieces. They actually listen to me and matched my style with what the store had to offer. Being tall and slim I always bought medium shirts and just lived with the fact that the sleeves were too short. The idea of alterations was never on my radar. Enna (not sure on the spelling) fitted me in a size large and was able to slim the body and the sleeves. She is awesome. All around a great experience, and I plan to return as I slowly grow my new wardrobe. read more
