I had long almond shaped nails when I came in and showed her the almond shape just incase there was a language barrier. She cut and filed my nails down to different round shapes and made the French so thick. She also applied several coats of gel x then gel base and top so they are very thick. I really wanted to like Menta y Canela -- the salon looked cute online, and the prices seemed affordable. I booked a 9:00 AM appointment for a regular manicure, but when I showed up a few minutes early, the salon wasn't even open yet. The staff was standing outside waiting for someone to arrive with the keys. The person with the keys didn't show up until around 9:15. Then when it came time to pay, I was told the manicure was $15, even though the website clearly said $11.99. When I asked about the price difference, I was told, "All services at this location are $15." Only after I pushed back did she agree to charge me the advertised price. DO NOT COME HERE. My experience was absolutely terrible. I received an infection directly after my manicure. The nail technician was EXTREMELY aggressive. The nail technician cut me, put an ointment on the cut; immediately I started to blister on the finger she cut. Nail technician then thought the blistering ( due to the ointment she put on ) was cuticle and she proceeded to cut the blisters. I advised her I was in pain, I also advised her my finger felt like it was burning. I told her I needed to wash my hand to take off the ointment. I was reading on line this ointment can cause this reaction if allergic. Absolutely terrible. I paid for the service and left her tip because it was so cheap, I felt truly bad for her because I am sure she is scraping to make a living. I will never go again for being cheap you will have cheap results such as an infection which I currently have. If you decide to go, good luck ! I would NEVER recommend anyone to come here. I live upstairs so I was hoping for this place to be by "go to" manicure and pedicure place. I would rather keep going to Consuelo in PORTFOLIO on miracle mile - where they actually sanitize the items they use and are careful - pay more for better quality and no infection. Also, the women are very unprofessional. I mean, they probably get paid $5 an hour but the business should be conducted better. This salon has been part of the Doral area for quite a while, and is very well known for providing great services at a fair price. Its not unusual to call and find out they are fully booked, but that's just due to the popularity! Best recommendation is to plan ahead and make your appointments. The new salon in Coral Gables is in a great location, has beautiful color options, and great staff. There is NO free parking, and keep in mind they do not have the pedicure chairs, pedicure will be at the same hand station. If you seek a massage pedi chair, this is not the spot. Lazy, the entire staff is not customer focused. In the past they've rushed the job and my nails chip in less than a week. I've used them for emergencies only but not even worth it. I came in today for my appointment. One lady was on the phone outside the other laying down on the couch and one more scrolling through Instagram. The front desk told me because I was late they couldn't take care of me. Yet I had a whole other 45 min left of my appointment. I asked her just to take care of my nails and she argued with me that she didn't have enough time, for one single service which is complete LIE! The biggest downfall of this salon is the person who answers the phone. My mom and I both tried to schedule an appointment at different times and it seemed like the person at the desk didn't know a single word other than "No". She doesn't speak any English and although I can clearly communicate the days of week, time and service in Spanish, she preferred to pretend she didn't understand me which is really not fair if I'm making an effort. Instead of suggestion available times, she just tried to get me off the phone. Note to management, you lost two customers for the same reason... the receptionist! It would be beneficially to have someone more customer service friendly answered your phones and scheduling appointment. $20 dollars for a regular mani pedi is unbeatable price. The place is clean and has a lot of color options. I also liked that I got a same day appointment. I think I just got a bad nail technician, she did not take out cuticle as neatly as my regular nail spot and what mostly displeased me was the very thick layer of polish because the thicker the layers the longer it takes to dry and it also sort of moves so the nail does not look even. I was not happy with the paint but overall my nails look ok. I would give this place another chance with a different technician. read more

She didn't want to cut my cuticles I assume because she was lazy because there isn't another reason not to do it. Then, she told me that she would either cut my nails or file them be they were already short (which they were just no to the point that she couldn't do both). I asked her to use the drying spray nails salon have to dry your nails and the lady told me they didn't have any which wasn't true because I turned around and there were like 4 bottles of the spray. After that, I asked the lady in the front desk again and they stated the same thing and I told her that I saw the bottles. They just didn't want to give it to me. My bf went with me and the lady that did his nails made him bleed and he is in pain now. First time coming to this place since one of my clients recommended, went in specifically looking for the person I was recommended and unfortunately she wasn't there. I was glad I was helped since I didn't have an appointment but I should've waited on my original recommendation because this lady who did my nails shapes my nails to look like crap and had polish all over my toes. I left pissed and while getting in my car in the day light noticed how horrible my supposedly pedicure was, returned and the lady at the register super rude said I asked you what was wrong before you left and I replied I noticed all the imperfection in the light, she was very rude as if I hadn't paid, I tend to leave tip even when I'm not pleased, this time was very different!!
