It's behind Tuomey, next to the administrative buildings (where the Clemson Co-op is). This library uses a new keyring card for identification. That may be standard now, I don't know. The building itself is quite nice, with a large children's area off to the right when you enter and they have their own computers for playing on. Periodicals, best-seller books, and videos are off to the left. Upstairs is the rest of the books plus a general-use computer section with approximately 30 stations. Book selection is still lacking, that's a quality that carried over from the previous location, but is definitely better than it was. I gave it 4 stars because that's just how much better it is now (for a library alone I'd give it a 3-3.5).

They make it really easy to find books via their website. I can log into my account and place a hold from home and then they will email and/or text when it is available. The reserved books section is to the right when you walk in the door. It's alphabetized by the borrower's last name so you can easily grab your book and head to the checkout stations. If you're checking out a book from another library, you will have to scan the barcode inside the back cover (or some are on the back cover), otherwise the system just knows what the book is when you lay it on the console. The parking lot is pretty small here so I usually have to park in the shopping center lot and walk over (not far). Also, free WiFi here!

Filled with books that celebrate history, current novelist favorites, children's selection, and a quiet space not yet tarnished and overrun with technology, the Timrod is perhaps the best Library I have encountered yet. It's enough to make anyone re-discover and fall in love with Libraries as they were once intended- a peaceful space to educate oneself and dive into both new and old perspectives. The smells of the old 1915 home make you feel blessed to even be amongst such information that can both educate and open your eyes. Open from 10-5 daily, the fee for membership at this nonprofit is only $25 a year. This type of non profit is a great reminder that not all are the same- the money from membership goes to being able to maintain the site rather than go directly into someone's pocket. Of course you're free to spend time learning complimentarily, but once you set foot inside and are open to all it has to offer, needless to say, I wanted to give more so that this special place can continue to exist and thrive. Did I mention T-shirts. You simply must go. The staff are all wonderful people to care about people and their work. For the most part quiet and people keep their kiddos in control. They have two floors, classrooms, quiet areas, and rooms that you can reserve for gatherings/meetings. Lots of magazines and books for sale also. Check online for classes and the event schedules. I have taken several free classes at this location. Columbia library offers more classes, hopefully in the near future they will offer more here. I highly recommend that you use your local libraries...tax dollars in good use!

Before the pandemic, there used to be a table that had a community jigsaw puzzle which was fun to contribute to. Years ago they had teen programs and craft nights and the summer reading programs gave me something to look forward to as a kid. Also before the pandemic they had events like "color your stress away" where adults could meet up, color, and converse with each other which was neat. There's seating areas and private rooms to fit your needs whether it's to get work done or have a quiet study group.
