This is the location for the new library and it's quite a structure, especially in comparison to…read moreit's old location (not the one on Wesmark, that's just a branch). It's behind Tuomey, next to the administrative buildings (where the Clemson Co-op is). This library uses a new keyring card for identification. That may be standard now, I don't know. The building itself is quite nice, with a large children's area off to the right when you enter and they have their own computers for playing on. Periodicals, best-seller books, and videos are off to the left. Upstairs is the rest of the books plus a general-use computer section with approximately 30 stations. Book selection is still lacking, that's a quality that carried over from the previous location, but is definitely better than it was. I gave it 4 stars because that's just how much better it is now (for a library alone I'd give it a 3-3.5).

I cannot adequately describe the employees at both locations. They are friendly, respectful, and always seem eager to assist. Like the other branches that I've visited, the inside is bright, colorful, and inviting, and has a wide array of computers, printers, copiers, and other electronics for guests to use. This location also has a children's arts and crafts section, which I would've loved when I was a kid. However, what stood out about this particular branch was the quality in which the books were curated and displayed. I loved walking through the aisles and checking out the different categories and genres, as well as the New York Times bestsellers and Pulitzer Prize-winning books. Although I had placed a hold, I walked away with two (2) other books that I thought would be interesting, owing to the effort that the librarians exerted in crafting the displays of books. All-in-all, this is yet another fantastic branch of the Richland Library system, and I loved my trip here!

For the most part quiet and people keep their kiddos in control. They have two floors, classrooms, quiet areas, and rooms that you can reserve for gatherings/meetings. Lots of magazines and books for sale also. Check online for classes and the event schedules. I have taken several free classes at this location. Columbia library offers more classes, hopefully in the near future they will offer more here. I highly recommend that you use your local libraries...tax dollars in good use!

Additionally, there are tables where you can sit to read or work on your laptop. I found that if you needed a study room, you could secure one if you arrived early enough. I believe that there is a 2-hour time limit, but you can extend if no one else is waiting for me. The staff at this location is super friendly and helpful. I never needed any assistance, but I have seen them help individuals print or use computers. Another great perk of the Richland Library System is the free printing; if you have a library card, you can print up to a certain amount of pages per day. This printing perk comes in handy if you need to print something. There are also scanners if you need to scan anything. All in all, this small library is the perfect place to come and read a great book, study for an exam, or work on the computer.
