Review #300! After spending several hours at the British Museum, we decided to seek out a nearby bubble tea shop for a pick me up. We realized we were hungry when we saw Menya Ramen House across the street from the boba shop we were aiming for. We lucked out in not having to wait long for a table, perhaps because it was getting close to closing time. This restaurant is really tiny. It's a narrow restaurant with very limited seating (mostly small tables and one larger table at the back). They also have some seating outside. I love how they have these small pitchers of water you can take to your table. You can just refill your glass without bothering the workers. Chopsticks & napkins are already on the table. We ordered 3 bowls of Menya Ramen in the Tonkotsu Broth. We noticed later that the bowls didn't all have the same number of slices of chashu. An oversight, I'm sure. I love how we can choose how firm we would like our noodles (regular, hard or extra hard) and also choose our spicy level (step 1, step 2 or step 3). They make a solid bowl of ramen. Perfect noodles, delicious broth, and even the egg was good. The meal was delicious and hit the spot after visiting the British Museum. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. There's a restroom in the back, on the right side. It's tiny, as many restrooms are in London. They also have some of the softest toilet paper in any of the public restrooms I've been to during my trip. Yeah that's a strange thing to comment on LOL but it really is. read more

Actually extremely solid ramen. Probably one of the better ones I've had in London! Came on a weekday lunch and was still able to get a seat inside which is nice. Also they seem pretty Covid conscious with the screens dividing between the tables. I ordered the Menya Ramen which is essentially the regular Tonkatsu Ramen. I really appreciate the fact that this one already had a soft-boiled egg in it which I always think is the best part about ramen, and this one is no different. Wasn't the biggest fan of the chasu pork, but I did appreciate the seaweed as well as the rich broth. I thought the amount the gave was also quite a bit for the price, especially with the amount of noodles they had. Overall, pretty great experience at Menya. Just finished the Menya Ramen the Kira miso Ramen (spicy level 1), side of kimchee and gyoza dumplings. Everything was fantastic. I had the miso, very flavorful, chasu pork was perfect, just enough fat to be flavorful, very tender. Gyoza we're solid and the kimchee was very good. My son and I traded for a taste and next time I am going for the Menya Ramen, no spice. It was so savory, subtle, I wanted the bowl to be bottomless. Service was as prompt as possible for a Sunday afternoon after the museum. Line went fast. Thank you for the amazing meal. read more

A really nice bowl of ramen on a cool rainy day. Outside seating was covered. Staff were friendly. Best of all, food was great! I went with the veggie miso ramen which came with fried tofu slices, wakame, mushrooms and pickles. I added an egg which gave it a little extra yum. Umami broth and noodles were cooked hard, as ordered. My friend enjoyed the kimchi ramen with a lovely tonkatsu broth and pork slices. We were both impressed and enjoyed the meal. Absolute gem of a restaurant. Ramen was delicious but my favorite was the rice bowls. The pork was cooked to perfection and the sauce flavored everything wonderfully. Would recommend the side order of kimchi as well - made in house! Staff were super friendly and would recommend this shop to anyone. read more

When I asked the waitress if spicy was British style spicy or Asian style spicy, she said Asian. She wasn't wrong! If you're looking for spice, it's here! I like that you have options for noodle texture and spice but note that it's a Korean style spice, not a Japanese style. Ramen is tasty though! Just FYI - cause I wondered, the only difference between the Menya and the Karai ramen is spice and price. It's an extra pound and change for spice. Make of it what you will. read more

Early dinner makes it way to get comfort food that's super reasonable. Small shop hold about 35 people Easy access off street. Staff greets you and hand a menu to you. Water served without asking. We ordered Miso and Menya Ramen , regular cooked noodles is something you can ask. Wooden chopsticks and wooden top tables add to decor. Korean run Japanese place but the ramen was pretty good! The egg was perfect and the chashu wasn't too lean which is great. Wish the cut was a bit thicker but it was still nice. Tonkotsu broth was flavourful without being overly salty. The noodles were okay, I personally prefer mine a little softer. The bowl also comes with some seaweed. read more

First time here. Staff weren't Japanese though but still, was pleasantly surprised. Simple menu, average service, noodles were tasty but we did wonder about MSG content. Presentation of seafood ramen was epic, but unfortunately couldn't really get into the crab without a cracker and the mussel was really chewy. You're looking at £9.50 - £14.50 price range. Great ramen with tons of flavor! We went here for lunch right after visiting the British Museum. It's a small restaurant with some seats outside and several inside. They have several traditional options and spicy ramen offerings. I ordered the kimchi ramen with pork and my husband got the traditional ramen. The pork is to die for! The ramen comes with a good size piece of pork that is tender and falls apart, adding great flavor to your bowl. The kimchi in mine added some spiciness and zing. The noodles are nice although not homemade. The broth is silky and flavorful and I couldn't finish it all! The prices here are also affordable at around 11 Euros. Not bad, but not my absolute favourite either. Broth for the gyoza ramrn is subtle and a bit salty, so not for the people who love the strong bone broth types. Makes a change though if you want something more subtle. My friend had the karai ramen, and it looked very good. Chashu was very good apparently. read more

Extremely bad service attitude!!!!!! asked the host for hot water to eat my cold pills and was told they don't have it. Said they need to charge for hot water because of electricity used by the kettle??!!!! Never eat here! We went here after the British Museum and right I knew there would be a problem. The owner saw we had a toddler and looked as if we had brought the plague. We settled and ordered. The dish I wanted was no longer offered so I didnt order. My parents ordered and we waited for the food. I took my toddler out to play a little before the food came. It came and we ate. My dad knew they added MSG. He is very senditive to it. I asked for a small bowl for my duaghter and they looked at me like I was asking for their left kidney. They gave me a small bowl after much dicussion amongst the staff in Korean. I started to give my daughter noodles and she wouldnt sit still. They did not have a high chair. Some noodles fell on the floor and the owner shot me a very angry look. He came over right away, cleaned it up, (just so you know I was going to clesn it) looked up at me and said, "Control your child!!". I was taken back. Shes a child. If you dont want her dropping food maybe you should have a high chair. I basically left and stood outside while my parentd ate. My daughter didnt get to eat a thing. The enviornment was extremely hostile to children. If you have a kid, skip this place. They are some people who should be in the service industry and some who arent really great at service but who still do just fine. (Basic social skills) These people are neither. They should not be in the service industry. They act as if they are doing their customers a favor by providing food. They act as if they dont need the hassel of having customers. It was unbelievable. Good ramen. Straight there for dinner after a day of travel. 100m from the museum, had the Kimchee Ramen and Chasu Don (pork belly) starter. Both were good, neither were spectacular. Small - 8 small tables inside, 2 outside. All in all, enjoyable! read more
