There is art from Africa, Berber woven rugs and blankets, pottery and baskets from Morocco, hand made brass cow bells, piles of old cell phones, heaps of indistinguishable clothes, motorcycle gear, military collectibles, coins, watches, lots of silver jewelry, roasted chestnuts, fresh vegetables and fruit. Today, even a kitchen sink was offered! The patrons range from Moroccans, British tourists on holiday to locals looking for a bargain. There are multiple places at the perimeter to have a snack and a cool drink. There are local musicians playing. Luckily, the only lookie-lookie guys congregate in one center spot around a guitar monument and do not harass passers by. As with all gatherings of a mix of visitors, it's wise to keep your money and passport in your front pocket. Earlier on, it is possible to walk without rubbing against others, but by noon, you are shoulder to shoulder. The biggest problem is securing a parking space. It is impossible to park on the main street and the little narrow side ones fill quickly. The fairgrounds has its own free parking lot. It fills quickly, but cars come and go & it is possible to wait and secure a parking spot. Be sure to put all valuables and packages in your car trunk and lock your car. This is a great fun way to spend a couple hours on a Saturday morning!

OK it was…read moreMonday so most of the stalls were closed since many sold fish and they don't fish on Sundays but even then there were less than a dozen others that were open for business and no customers were present at nine in the morning. We also learned that the big flea market which includes vendors selling produce happens on Monday's east of old town so maybe this explains how dead this place was... So much so that very little English is spoken in the market. However, a friendly smile, lots of gesturing and odd commonly understood word went a long way! It's a mixed market selling things like kitchen knives but mainly concentrating on food. Perhaps unsurprisingly for a seaside town, my favourite stalls were the seafood stalls piled high with giant clams and fresh tuna There were also meat stalls and colourful vegetable stalls as well as purveyors of spice and cheese I left with some local payoyo cheese to take home from Marbella as a yummy reminder of my holiday

It's all standing space and the guy at the counter won't pay any attention to you unless you shout "perdon" and have your order ready. the seafood was so fresh. in the case of the gooseneck clams, they tasted a little too fresh and from the ocean (if u know what i mean). the grilled razor clams and grilled padron peppers were phenomenal. the bread and herb aoli was a surprising smash hit, only 1€ and a meal in and of itself. the paella was delicious as well, replete with a variety of different seafoods (including the plumpest of mussels) but it was too salty to enjoy without a beer and ranks second in terms of seafood flavor to the paella from bar santa cruz in se. i did avail myself with glee to the large juicy slice of lemon that came with every plate though.

This was our last stop to visit on our list today. Many bars and restaurants. Fresh produce, seafood, meats, etc. Ambiance - Decent size market. And plenty of surrounding businesses. A nice architecture. It would have been nice if I had more time to visit, too jam-packed of a day. Well half a day, but you know that because you are following. Several entrances. Open 6 days a week from 8am to 2pm or 3pm or when they sell out. Closed Sundays. The fish market is also closed on Mondays. Service - Good, busy. Both locals and tourists here. Price - Competitive market, so very reasonably priced, especially for the quality of foods. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since the 14th century. 1870 when made into a market. 1979 - Refurbished.

Talk about Spanish food! This place has a ton of stalls that sell cheeses, meats, seafood, some…read moreproduce and bread. I wish I could have spent more time here and I also wish that I had rented a house with a full kitchen so I could buy the seafood and cook it up myself. Not a huge place, but it has everything that you'd need including a stall that sold all types of olive skewers with different pickles. Love me some acietes!

At night you have a bunch of little eateries which is perfect if you want to try many different nibbles. The market is a mix of tourists and locals alike. I really like the vibe here.
