Today I'm thankful for this, one of my favorite places to eat in Lisbon. It's off the beaten path, and a lot quieter and more accessible than the Time Out Market. If you're looking for a good daytime activity in Lisbon, get over here with all your friends, eat all the things, and then window shop/actually shop as you wander back toward the city center. There are a LOT of different stalls manned by very personable people, and we split up, ordered whatever we wanted, and reconvened at all of the very comfortable tables to eat everything. We had: ramen, two different steaks, rice and beans, salad, fries, oysters, shawarma, a few different baos, candied nuts, and one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. And honestly, it was all pretty affordable. There are even some cute little clothing shops, if you ever get tired of eating. I don't, really. Truly, a great stop in Lisbon. read more

There are some friendly vendors here and my son and I purchased all our vegetables for Thanksgiving including butternut squash, Brussels sprouts and asparagus. Cash was needed for those. We stopped into an organic olive oil place and the lovely and informative purveyor gave us an olive oil tasting. I mentioned the next day was U.S. Thanksgiving and we were making an all vegetarian meal. She ,wisely, suggested we check out their selections of organic wines. We bought a red and a white and a white that were excellent. They accepted credit cards .I'm told there is a good farmer's market there on Saturday's. Some basic Portuguese was needed for the vegetables vendor but the young woman in the olive oil store offered to speak English. This was a fun experience we won't forget. read more

Where the locals go. Good variety of food. Reasonably priced. Night we went there was a DJ and Karaoke night patrons are welcome to come up and sing. I think is a wonderful place to bring your crew to dine , enjoy a few drinks and have fun. read more

I agree with previous reviewers that this is what time out market should have been. It's close to where the 25E tram terminates, making it accessible, but still off the beaten path for most tourists. The interior is very modern and inviting. Even better, each food stall has personality and unique signage that make it easy to understand what they sell (unlike time out)! There is plenty of seating in the middle of the market and at the counters of each place. For lunch I got a hummus sabich from Hummusbar. This was a bowl with grilled eggplant, a boiled egg, Mediterranean salad, and plenty of tahini and spices served over creamy hummus. Everything about this dish was perfect, and it went well with their mint lemonade, which they gave me to try before I bought a glass. I would certainly come back for this meal, and also to try some of the other delicious looking offerings they have in the market. read more

A fun place to eat Have you ever visited the Ferry Building Market Place in San Francisco or Pike Place Market in Seattle? Mercado de Campo de Ourique or Campo de Ourique Market in Lisbon, Portugal, is very much like these two. Campo de Ourique Market is a neighborhood food market that opened in 1934. It has been remodeled twice since then, once in 1991 and again in 2013, by António Maria Braga, a Portuguese architect specializing in traditional Portuguese architecture. The market offers fresh fish and vegetables daily. The stalls of the traditional market and those serving different types of traditional Portuguese to Japanese food surround the tables of the food hall. If you are into wines, they are served by glass or bottle. Cocktails are also available. We were walking the neighborhood and happened to get to the market at lunchtime. It was a pleasant experience which I recommend to all who visit Lisbon. read more

Although there are less choices here, it's a lot quieter than the Time Out Market You can find vendors that sell seafood, steak, salads and desserts. We got the steaks with this to die for prevance housemade sauce that tasted like truffle cream. The meat was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Even the rice was cooked with flavor. Probably salt and fat. Shouldn't be missed if you're in the area riding Tram 28 till the end. read more

Forget timeout...this, mah friends, is the real gourmet food hall. While our hotel was in Barrio Alta we still came here twice during our half week stay in the area. We ordered from 6 places: 1..the fish place near the front, (clams, sea bass)2. the fruit lady behind that stall to the right,(sweet peaches) 3. the steak guy in the middle after the seating area, (perfect medium rare ribeye w potatoes wedges and salad) 4. the Artisani gelato place (green apple lichi...wow!) 5. Espresso across from them. 6 the pasta place around the corner from the gelato place by the florist and bathroom (pasta bolognese. My kid finished every last morsel). Everything we had was amazing. A one stop shop for quality food at a reasonable price. Think high end food court. There are multiple stalls with fresh quality produce. The variety ranges from Japanese sushi to Texas steak house. They sell fruit, wine and brittle. My husband and I always want to eat something different for dinner so this was the perfect solution to our dilemma. I had the sushi from Praça Japonesa, the chefs combo, 12 pieces for 12.50€. It was fresh and very filling. Hubby had a steak with wedges and salad from Carnes Meat Shop. As a tourist looking for traditional Portuguese food, this is not exactly the best place to get it - I think the TimeOut mercado actually has more (albeit more expensive) versions of traditional food. However, if you're looking for a solid meal, this is a good place. Extra star for not being packed to your eyeballs. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

This is a great location. We had dinner here last evening. It was packed with World Cup fans. So many choices for meals and beverages...everyone can chose something different...and you can sit down and eat together. We chose sushi and it was delicious. Prices across the board were good so an economical option for families as well. We will likely be back during our visit to Lisbon. read more

This is a "mercado" like sleeping beauty's castle in Disneyland is a castle. In reality, it is an upscale food court with options that resemble food porn (bacalau, sushi, steak). However, from a tourist's standpoint, this place is great (yes, some of us like Disneyland and local version of food porn). To start off, there is a restaurant that is exclusively vegetarian. They have a dazzling array of options even for vegans. That itself was worth making the trip out there because my wife is vegan and it is not always possible to find vegan options while you are traveling, especially at high-end places where they tend to feature meat and seafood. For me the omnivore, there was a seafood place where I ordered a grilled bacalau (cod) plus sides for 10 euros. I also had a sashimi appetizer from an sushi stall for 7 euros--tuna and salmon. Both are a a steal for me (from California). That plus a white wine for 3 euro, I got a great meal for 20 euro at a historical market that has been cleaned up and remodeled. The best thing to do is to take the #28 tram (their de facto touristic tram) there and back. It is located near the end of the line, so it is easy to get back onto the tram afterwards. read more

Went for a burger, and the place was a-ok. If you've ever been to the Grand Central Market in Los Angeles, this place is a lot like that but smaller. It's a bit pricey as Lisbon goes, but worth the trip. A nice place to hang out and have a meal and a few beers with friends. Plenty of area to sit and enjoy your meal. It's a nice place for lunch and a short walk to the Cemitério dos Prazeres (Cemetary of Pleasures) which is a must see for any Lisbon tourist. read more

This is the market you seek if you are a cook looking to find excellent fish, meat, produce (second only to the farmer's market in Principe Real on Saturdays) and baked goods under one roof in Lisbon. Time Out is great for the restaurant stalls in the prepared food court, but less so for shopping for a meal to prepare at home. Campo de Ourique Market excels at this and also has some great prepared food choices, albeit fewer than Time Out. Please note that the opening hours shown for the market online do not guarantee that all vendors will be open for business -- on Sundays only the food court is open, generally speaking. read more
