This is a small market right by the El Tule Tree and church. I don't know if it's a spot a non-local would go out of her way to visit unless in the area.
Certain tables seem to 'belong' to certain stalls and ladies will come over with menus and ask you what you want to order. In most cases, you also pay at the end, which was a bit confusing to me at first, but I had a tour guide with me, so he helped us out!
The market has various memelitas, tlayudas, tacos, quesdillas, as well as agua frescas, atole, champurrado, and various fruits. We enjoyed a quesadilla and atole. The tortillas needed some salt, to be honest, but it was a good snack after a 6-mile bike ride to see El Tule. read more
