If you're ever in Tijuana and want to visit an authentic Mexican market with real ingredients and amazing prices, Mercado Hidalgo is the place to go. It's safe, reliable, and full of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and tamales. Go experience this beautiful market for yourself. You can thank me later.

Machete

I don't have a picture of all the candy and treats I bought for Dia de Muertos, but I found a machete! You can find things from pots/pans, art, shoes, candy, piñatas, herbs, medicine and many more things at the Mercado.

There are lots of great deals and some not so great, but with the convenience of finding it all in one large shopping area. The individual stands offer everything from produce, sweets, mixed drinks, spices, party supplies, souvenirs, baked goods, even some prepared meals at a few sit-down dining areas. If you have time, and patience, you can find better prices from different vendors by shopping around. But mostly they have pretty similar pricing. We did notice some wholesale items at the party store had higher prices than one would get from buying at chain stores, like Calimax or Soriana. But the good thing about this place is you can get all your shopping done without driving to multiple stores. Definitely showing up earlier will ensure you find a parking spot!

It's the best! Simply the best. Leather belts, amazing food, ingredients, pricing, everything!

The market is fantastic. This is the place to go if you are in the market for kitchenware, herbs, spices, home improvement items, and other random things. They are open to bargaining and have fantastic deals. There was plenty of parking when we arrived in the morning, which was a blessing. Parking may become difficult after 10 or 11 in the morning. Additionally, it is a fantastic spot to relax and pass the time.

A great stop to shop around for items or foods! They have many stores but a notable one for us was El Texano where you can buy drinks that they make right in front of you including cantaritos, palomas, micheladas, and juices. A cantarito for us cost about $13 USD and you can keep the cup! Great for walking around the nice little marketplace.

It was my first time going here, so I didn't know what to expect. They have a paid parking lot available, so luckily we found a spot. Some of the other drivers can be quite rude though- honking at you when you are just waiting for the driver to back out. I love going to markets in different countries, but this one was a bit disappointing. I was hoping for more food vendors, but there weren't that many. There were only vendors selling fruit cups and bunuelos, so we bought a mango one for me and cactus one for him. The cactus one was better because it was more fresh. I thought the mangoes were too ripe. We walked around and there were stores selling cheese, produce, and Mexican candy. I needed to stock up on Mexican candy, so we bought a few of our favorites. The total was much higher than when I last bought some, so I'm not sure if the prices went up, or if this market is just more expensive.

Love this place you can find so much here. We usually stop and get everything we need. It's easy because it's all in one location. You will find a farmacia, birria restaurant, lots of places to shop for candy, fruit, food, house supplies, baking supplies and so much more.

Awesome selection of piñatas

Food is limited and it's more to buy produce and items. Service depends on stand you visit. Ambiance was ok. No parking due to high traffic

Today we tried the following: *Teriyaki Prime rib bowl w/pork belly fried rice from Tiger Sticks. This is usually a favorite but today rating 4/5 stars because the meat was a bit tough and it lacked seasoning. *Bacon wrapped Doggos Gus hotdog with the works 4.5/5 stars. *Vegan Coconut Sundae from Cocobomb. Dessert was light and had the right amount sugar 5/5 stars! There's so much great food and desserts. All the vendors are very friendly and some will give samples. Check it out! Happy Yelping :)

The only thing for me is that I was wish there was more stalls we can finish seeing everything in maybe 10-15 min depending how fast you see everything. If you haven't , you should go check it out ! It's in a mall. They're open 4-8pm on Tuesday only ! I recommend the "Full Belly Bbq" the moink is awesome, "Suerte" for coffeee and refreshers, and "BomBom" for sweets but surprisingly they're not overly sweet like how some donuts are which is a bonus for me !

It's my go staple to recharge over the weekend. That and an energy drink. Their tortas are also epic! Highly recommend!!! I've noticed they are getting busier and busier so morning is probably the best time. Say around 10 -10:30 am. Especially on wkends. It can also get packed .. bring patience and manners. The ambiance inside the market is also nice ..not overpowering like say Albertsons. They have a great selection of food and drinks...not only alcohol but energy drinks, waters, Starbucks bottled coffee and sodas as well. When I was sick, I came here with a mask on and ordered their caldo de res...with all the veggies and the warm broth it actually helped me feel better. Plus the generous chunks of veggies helped me get some nutrition in me. That and the menudo on the weekends are what I believe helped me get past being sick. Truly grateful for this place being nearby!! I highly recommend this market.....it has amazing food, amazing employees, and a really decent selection. Need laundry soap but think you have to go to name brand store? Nope! Head over towards the butcher in the back, across from the pan dulce and you'll find it! They also have instant coffee and creamer. Speaking of their pan dulce ... absolutely must try!! It's delicious!!!
