Most stalls sold similar items. We did grab some oysters salty and unsalted. I preferred the salted one as it was less brinier. The lady liked the unsalted. It was 10euro for 4! They also had plenty of stalls with cured meats, cheeses, fresh squeezed juices, and like a fried outer dough with meat filling treats. I have no idea what they are called but we got some haha! Overall pretty chill spot, when we left and went out a back alleyway exit, there was some youngings one of which walked passed us then immediately turned and got super close following us. Not sure if they were filming pickpocket pranks or what but stand your ground and tell them off. Our only weird interaction really with possible pickpockets this trip that we noticed.

As one of our Tour Guides mentioned, the wonderful aromas in a market as you pass the different stands full of fresh/seasonal products is unforgettable. This one has the usual suspects-butchers, fish mongers, olives, nuts, fruit, a stand that had only eggs (a few varieties), Jamon/Iberico Ham only stands and of course various restaurants. I had some breakfast and not breakfast food at Pinotxo Bar (Xuxos, Cafe con Leche, Beef Cheeks and Octopus Galician style. We picked up some croquettes (chorizo) and spinach and chorizo empanadas at another stand-delicious! I enjoyed this market way more than La Boqueria. Manageable crowds and unfussy yet cozy experience. A delight for a leisurely morning of eating through the various stores. From cod croquettes to prosciutto snacks to cheeky morning prosecco and more, there is plenty to discover in the market plus the surrounding stores. There's also a supermarket around the corner for things you can't find in the market. Smaller market but local flair more than makes up for its size.

Ok, I've been coming here more regularly, and I'm getting used to the rhythm of the city, and how…read morethings work... While this will never be like my favorite farmers markets back in LA, it does offer stuff that you can't get in LA... so here's some of the good: Poultry vendors - I go to the ladies at Monica Avirum (sp?) - they're friendly, they know me by now, and they have good chicken. And if you want your chicken thighs/legs boned, they'll do it for you - it's included with the service. And they have Italian parsley for the asking - so if you're getting chicken carcasses for making a caldo - don't forge to ask for the parsley. And while i can't find all the fabulous greens that I love and miss so much - sometimes they can get things special ordered for you. I was trying to find pea shoots - but it's just not something people eat or sell or ask for here. And i was trying to describe it to this one produce vendor... he said he'd get it for me from Mercabarna for the following saturday. Well, he didn't have what i wanted. but he gave me a little container of pea blossoms for free. That was sweet of him. So while i'm still intimidated by this place, and i'm still wishing they had organic stuff - i'm not hating the market as much as i was when i first moved to Barcelona. The vendors for the most part are friendly and try to help figure out what i'm asking for as my spanish vocabulary is still limited.
