It's easy to mistake Mercearia do Bernardino for just a market, but once you pass the shelves, you'll find a cozy little dining area where you can actually enjoy everything the shop has to offer. It's truly a hidden local gem serving the most authentic Portuguese dishes from recipes passed down to generations. You get calming, beautiful views of the garden, and this is where you'll find the best--and the only--sardine croquettes (Rissois) I've come across that taste like heaven.
