They took the entire left lobe. I am alive today after 2 close calls that could have turned out very differently if the folks at RWJ Hamilton hadn't taken the initiative to delve deeper. They have a racket going with the way they bill for services. I went to the ER one morning because i was experiencing chest and abdominal pain. The pain subsided shortly after I arrived and was put in a room. The doctor came in and explained that I would be there for three hours because i would need my blood work checked twice and spaced three hours apart to make sure it was not a cardiac issue. Sounded reasonable to me until I received my bill. I was not only charged for the ER visit but the doctor who I only saw twice (once for triage and then to release me) charged me an additional code for a high level of care. there was nothing high level or out of the ordinary of a regular ER visit done. As a matter of fact my husband who was with me had to remind them that i was due to have blood drawn again. I also have a friend who had a similar experience with chest pain and has the same insurance plan who was seen at a different hospital and was only charged the ER copay. It is really disgusting how the doctor can get away with up charging for services i did not receive. Needless to say I (or anyone in my family) will never use them again!!!

Senior admitted to the ER and then to the hospital, lots of problems. 3 nights in the ER on a stretcher, poor communication from nurses in ER. Found a vial of blood sitting in the room? (I will refrain from posting the photo). We did get some text messages but had to initiate all contact with doctors and this was difficult to do. Lots of procedures without indication of what or why. Once admitted, nurses were very nice but seem to be understaffed. Palliative care team was excellent. May be a good hospital but be prepared to be a social worker if loved one admitted.

They have a large parking lot that seems to fill up so although I lucked up and was able to get a good spot, I can see at times it may not be as easy to do so. The security guard at the entrance of the hospital was so pleasant yet thorough. I wish I would've gotten his name because he was just that good and deserves kudos (middle aged tall brown skinned man) . He spoke to everyone who entered, walked them through the process for entry, re-checked numerous bags and did all with a smile. The hiring event was towards the back of the main floor and was very organized. The Penn Med staff hosting the event were all very friendly and informative and I was able to make a few key connections I can work with and hopefully build a partnership with for the sake of employing Medical Assisting graduates .

They have a fancy building but don't have the staff to back it up. (in fairness, I am sure there are some good people there but I have never seen them in the ER) Worse, they are grossly overcharging patients. I definitely recommend everyone ask for all charges up front and make sure they are reasonable. I had them charge me $8000 for a test that should have cost $1500 if you look at average costs for the tests nationally. I was never told anything about this insane charge up front and would have went to a local radiology place if I was. When asked if they would negotiate it to something reasonable, I was told they won't negotiate their bills. They are what they are. I saw two doctors there. One was very good. Another one, I spent a year seeing and she came up with two diagnosis which I actually suggested to her and asked her to test for. She came up with nothing on her own but never refrained from charging me. Sad that such a beautiful hospital is so poorly run!

Capital Health Medical Center is one of those places no one ever hopes to review. A hospital visit…read moreis never on anyone's list of pleasant experiences, and an emergency room visit even less so. The very act of being there means something has gone wrong. Still, when my wife experienced a medical event serious enough to require admittance, I found myself deeply grateful for the people working behind those walls. From the moment she arrived, her symptoms were taken seriously. She was pulled into triage almost immediately, and within minutes, she was in an emergency room bed with a team already in motion. The attending physician was remarkable, the kind of person who makes you believe that medicine is still both science and calling. Every nurse, technician, and aide who crossed our path treated her with care and patience, and treated me with empathy that felt entirely genuine. Even beyond the clinical side of things, there was an atmosphere of kindness. The security guards greeted people with a calm professionalism that felt reassuring rather than imposing. The men and women working in the cafeteria were unfailingly warm, small moments of humanity in the middle of long hours of worry. When my wife was moved to a room in the IU, it was clear that the amenities were not the hospital's strong suit. It was clean, functional, but bare. No television, no real distractions, just the steady hum of machines and the odd rhythm of hospital life. Still, when you are dealing with matters of health and survival, the absence of cable television does not feel like much of a tragedy. I have read the low ratings, and I understand where they might come from, but our experience was very different. Four stars for a hospital that seems to have its priorities in order, staffed by people who still remember that patients are human beings first and foremost.

How did you bring that down?" And this was a question I asked because I'd like to remember that if it happened again.... the doctor said, "don't worry about that number." I'm in the ER thinking I'm dying and I'm just supposed to accept a sudden turn of a medical condition. Then they said, "we found nothing" and "I should check with my primary care doctor (which I didn't have at the time)".... So after the visit, I try to make appointments with doctors covered by my insurance in the area... one told me next appointment was in 2 months, another was 4 weeks... one mocked me because I was really upset and crying about this (as I was terrified because I thought I was dying)... basically, no one cared. The hospital didn't seem to. Their answer was "the doctor did everything right" because apparently malpractice was more important than what the actual condition could be or was. They wouldn't bring it to a cardiologist despite acknowledging a problem with the heart... they just figured "it's fine. Go home" I didn't need to be admitted but I wanted some answers... and they had no interest in giving me any. Either they didn't know or were more interested in shielding themselves from a lawsuit which I had no interest in filing. I literally wanted to know because my mom nearly died from something similar... but apparently, that's not important to anyone but me. Only reason I got some answers from other people were that the patient portal they have gave me all the lab results and test results, so I sent that to a family member who's an RN. I didn't even get to sign discharge papers... they just put an X there as if I signed them.

They failed him and did not think his life was worth anything. He went from having IV fluids, oxygen and telemetry to nothing. Put in a med surge 3rd floor room to die. The nurse was awful and lied. Each time I told her I needed a doctor from the time my father got to the floor. She kept telling me she would get a PA. She never got a doctor, and my father died five hours later. Suffocated because even though the board in his room stated he was to have oxygen she gave him nothing. No fluids, no oxygen he was suffocating. It was awful, I should have called 911. He was an amazing 90-year-old who woke up each day with a purpose and a plan. Now we suffer without him.

The doctors were able to stabilize her, but the staff was miserable and miss treating her. They ordered her food without asking her what she would like, she ended up with another order that took over an hour. She could not sleep and they told her that they would inject her with some medicine if she doesn't go to sleep. The bathroom was soiled by another patient that they are trying to blame her for. I ended up picking her up at 2am and sign herself out. I would not take my dog there. STAY AWAY!!!
