I have lived in the area for 25 years. ~24 years ago, I found Merchant's Exchange Barber Shop. They always do a GREAT job! Jerry or Stuart are my regular barbers. However, I would have no problem with any of the barbers or stylists cutting my hair. They are good and friendly people along with being outstanding barbers and stylists. read more

My usually barber cancelled on me and I knew there was a tiny shop near my house that I'd never been to. I walked in and met miss Charlene. She took me in and I told her what I do woh my other dude, the full straight razor shave to the skull. Although she wasn't able to straight razor me, she did a fantastic three step buzz cut that got my hair down to the skull and smooth just like my barber did. She knocked it outta the park and in half the time. If you need a solid, Damn good priced cut in a pinch I'd check this place out. Friendly atmosphere and a nice hometown vibe. I went here because my usual barber shop was closed for Labor Day weekend. I asked if he knew how to do a high and tight, was told yes. Well let's just say he did not know how to cut a high and tight. After multiple corrections I finally decided that it was time to leave, regardless of the quality of the cut. Adding insult to injury, it cost me $18.00. My family moved to Atlanta in March of 1989 and I can count on one hand the number of times I have had my hair cut elsewhere since then. Apart from the location change from Merchant's Walk to Merchant's Exchange over fifteen years ago this place has remained very consistent. The owner, Jerry, has been there since the beginning and I always made sure to drive back to Marietta even when I moved into the city to have him cut my hair. Now that I am back in Sandy Springs it is a very quick drive back over to Marietta too. Oh and the fact that BBQ1 is down the street gives me another incentive to make the trip. It is such a rarity today to go into a business and have someone who really knows you. Jerry always asks me how life is and brings up specific details he knows about me that I would never expect anyone to remember. My father went here as well until my parents moved out of state a couple years back, but he still tries to make a stop in to get a cut when he is here on business or to visit. I also love being able to avoid the madness of Supercuts et al while still paying about the same price. Most of the other barbers who work here have stayed the same for years as well with little turnover. There are definitely no kids running around with scissors working a summer job or interns either. I guess I have just never understood the concept of having to make an appointment to get your hair cut if you are a guy. In and out and off you go! read more

Worst Haircut EVER!...Don't know why I went there again, the "owner" gave me a horrible cut years ago, but after getting some good, some not so good, at Great Clips around the corner, I ventured in.....The gentleman that cut my hair well many times was not in, so I was cut by a new woman cutter. I went here last week to get a haircut on a day when my regular shop is closed (Sunday). Met Cindy and she cut my hair. She was very friendly and wasted no time starting my cut. I gave her the freedom to change my style. She came up with a more modern look that I liked, which was great. However she cut one part too short in the front that I didn't like. Price was higher than I usually pay elsewhere, but the convenience factor was very nice. I will probably return, but ask her to be careful when trimming the front. FYI.. they do not take credit cards, something I didn't realize until after the haircut. Fortunately I had a little cash on me. read more

I went to the Merchants Exchange Barbershop for years but I stopped. I got tired of the drama and the attitude of one particular owner. I always tipped well and was patient if I had to wait but it finally got to be too much when I had one of the owners say he did not want to cut my hair. read more

I don't usually leave reviews and I rarely take negative review Serious when they are frequent posters to other merchants in the same trade. I find these are deliberate comments and a bad way to gain business for those you post such eloquent essays on. Something I learned in my 20 years in the AF . Today I chose merchant and asked for that guy who didn't know how to cut hair (I have no fear given I have had my hair cut on base for a lifetime . ) But I could not find this person listed so I opted for the one who was laughing the hardest . Damn haircut turned out perfectly with no lines. He used scissors to blend the 6top and 3 side . He took the military look out of cut I look professional and that my girlfriend noticed. Said I was hot. :). I had a trader joes bag and I'm sure that didn't have anything to do with it. But nice job guys !!! You work like family. Nice environment need beer ! Bob - read more
