This was my first experience with GBBS--and I regret waiting so long. The short answer is I got a great haircut and beard trim; had wonderful conversations with the barbers; and was gobsmacked with how stylish the barbershop workspace itself was--it's worth visiting just to see how it is set up and outfitted with an old-timey and gentlemanly flair. Let me elaborate: First, the haircut and beard trim were first class (thanks, Oliver!). Great communication about what I wanted, had some more conversations about what I wanted and he made suggestions that I went with. Second, the haircut included a fantastic head massage, warm towel and gentleman's after haircut spritz. Oliver and I also discussed the future cuts and styles I should consider. Finally, the barbershop really is "bespoke." From the second you walk in, you are transported to a fine establishment outfitted with gentlemanly bourbon and tea items and related paraphernalia. I enjoyed a complementary tea from Garrett's Turkish Samovar, which he poured for me, then mixed with water...delicious. We also chatted about Scotch (and he showed me a Laguvellan 16 along with Nick Offerman's Lag 11, told me how to purchase it and have me a whisky connosuer's take on why he recommended it (along with a recommendation for where to buy it). read more
