To be candid, this is a bit of an emotional review for me…read more Anyone who has ever struggled with chronic pain will know this to be true: it's absolute hell. For the past six years, I have had debilitating lower back pain. I've had to stop working out, and I've had days when I could barely walk across the room. I've gained weight, lost sleep, and have really struggled. The most frustrating part has been that no one could ever tell me what was wrong with my back. My scans showed some swelling in my SI joints, but that was always the end of it. A year ago, it was discovered through a blood test that I possess the gene HLA-B27, which can indicate the presence of a disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis. So there it was: an answer! But even after previous doctors saw this, they were hesitant to diagnose. Why? I have no idea. But I was always just put on pain medications, which is never a good answer. I actually stumbled into Dr. Paul by accident when my previous doctor was out on leave. She was the first person to have a long, focused conversation with me about what was going on, and diagnosed me with AS pretty much immediately. It was such a relief to have an actual answer. From there, I was put on the appropriate medications, and was pain-free almost immediately. It's been several months and I am still feeling amazing. Dr. Paul is an exceptional doctor, and spends time addressing questions and concerns, which I've found to be really rare with rheumatologists. She changed my entire life and I'm back to functioning at 100%, which I'll never take for granted. I cannot recommend her enough. Kathy, one of her staff, has been wonderful as well. Truly a great group of people.

My mother was a patient of Dr. Craig Holzem. I would not recommend this Doctor. My mother was 88…read moreyears old she would had made it to 89 if Dr. Holzem would had done his job right. Mother was dealing with urine issue for a year. All he did is send her home with antibiotic. As time went on my mother pain got worse he would just give her a stronger antibiotic. When her pain spread to her back he told her she was having back spasms. His plan of action was to give her a pain pill. In that time my mother had bladder cancer that had spread to her stomach then to lungs. He did nothing to look into her issues. He is a failed my mother, not sure if he looks at the elderly as a waste of time. His office staff was not useful at all either. I would not recommend this doctor to my worst enemy if I had one. He should be ashamed of himself for doing that to my mother, not looking into her problems as a doctor should.

Best MD ever! I really appreciate a practice where your MD knows you and you know your MD. Every time I go in I know I'm seeing Dr. Holzem, not a NP or his nurse. I always will see him. He spends as much time as you need. He takes your concerns personal. He not only listens to you, but educates you about the concerns you bring to his attention. Dr Holzem moved from eureka to Washington. It's a further drive for me but it's worth it when you're receiving compassionate care.

Went to St. Louis Neuropathy and Pain Relief Center today with my son who suffers chronic pain…read more You get to the office hoping the doctor will be able to offer some relief for chronic pain. The physicians assistant says they only offer interventional pain relief. What does that mean? Do they review the referral notes sent by primary care physicians? I don't think so. It was a waste of time and a hope shattering experience to go here.

Another dr in crystal city hurt me so bad i could hardly walk an had to leave work for 2 months. I have 3 herniated disc, degenerative arthritis, scoliosis an horrible fibromyalgia. Then in 2019 i broke my back. The dr in crystal city said i didnt need to be on pain killers. I hurt constantly. My ex husband an i owned 8 martial arts schools. My first BB test lasted 13 hours. i fought 6 men at a time. I did full contact for 25 yrs. 6 ft tall men threw me in takedowns as hard as the could. I also showed horses in barrels, pole bending western pleasure hunter under saddle an gaited. Ive had a car fall on top of me an 3 big horses the same. Ive been kicked in ribs an broken, runover by horse at top speed an a bunch of other things in gymnastics. So yes im always in pain. But i think his last name is Anderson a black guy hurt me, belittled me an lied about me. NEVER GO TO THIS ASSHOLE IN CRYSTAL CITY MO. Dr Shapiro is great but now retired. He had a Nurse Practioner named Betty. Shes a bitch, rude an call you a liar. Walk out if shes part of pain management you switch toi. There are more complaints about her on yelp
