Had Bubs out to fix two small leaks and prime our well pump. My mistake was letting them start…read morewithout asking for their rate or an estimate. Getting water running again was our priority but he suggested starting on the leaks. Not long after beginning, Bub's father told me they couldn't attach their fitting to the well line because water was coming through; realizing my well line is gravity-fed after beginning. I had to pull the well line above the water level myself before they could install a shut-off valve. My well cover is about 300lbs and the line is 8ft down. I'm not sure what their plan would've been if I was not there. After saying the water was flowing again, they later told me my pump was done for and not to run it. They quoted $925 for a new pump, not including labor. With two hours of labor, the bill also came to $925 and my family was no closer to having running water. The materials installed were six feet of copper pipe, several compression fittings, a shut off valve, and a pipe hanger. I called another plumber afterward, who knew right away (just from a phone call) that my pump was fine. He had it running smoothly in minutes by clearing a port of sediment and then adjusting the pressure switch. Bub talked a lot about his experience and showed up with help but needed me to find a way to stop the water in order to address the first leak and then either missed or ignored the step that would've gotten my pump working. Their website claims they're transparent and budget-friendly, but I wasn't told his extreme rate upfront, the bill wasn't itemized (still waiting 9 days after he confirmed he would), and I nearly paid for an unnecessary pump replacement. Leaving 2 stars because the copper work itself was solid, but charging $250 per hour for six feet of easily accessible pipe work feels unreasonable. Being given the wrong diagnosis on the pump was unacceptable and raises concerns about their expertise or honesty.

Something lets go, there's the sound of rushing water, and the whole downstairs fills up with steam. It was so thick I couldn't even see a foot in front of me in the basement as my plumber, Darren Powers, talked me through on the phone how to shut the furnace down, and which valve to turn to get the water to stop. Man! What a mess.... Darren was such a help to me. Though he had been up since early that morning working a job when I reached him at around 7:00 pm, he came over as soon as he could around 9:00 pm and worked on stabilizing things until about 10:30 pm so nothing else would happen. Because it was Saturday, he wasn't able to come back until Monday after gathering all the parts and equipment needed to fix the furnace and burst pipe line. I've known Darren for years, and he's helped me on many occasions. Each time, he came as soon as he could, did great work, and cleaned up the resulting mess after. I've trusted him numerous times to come in to do his work even when I wasn't home. And he's always been more than fair with not only his prices, but also his time. He came back the next day to do a better assessment and discovered we would need to remove our very old drain trap. His crew came out the very next day and removed it after cutting a small access hole in the hall ceiling. They guys were quick and efficient and discovered a very old rag lodged in was the clog. In doing so they also discovered a rotted spot that could have cause thousands in damage. Had we gone with anyone else I don't think that would have been caught and we could be up to our eyeballs in water damage. These are now my go to plumbers and I hope you will give them a shot too!
