Avoid at all costs. If I could give zero stars or negative stars, I would do it. Vanessa Joseph, the property manager, has sent me multiple extremely rude emails and threatened to terminate my lease when I asked her to take care of building issues that severely affected my quality of life. I also got no response from anyone else at the company or her supervisor, Jimmy Demetriades. Do NOT live in a Meridian Property. You will be miserable. The buildings are infested with cockroaches, front door is perpetually broken which is a huge security risk and they do nothing about tenant on tenant harassment. read more

We've had water leaks in our apartment since LAST YEAR. Pointing work is desperately needed at least on one side of the building, yet NOTHING has been done. We cannot make any repairs to the inside if the OUTSIDE hasn't been addressed. We've repeatedly stated this to management for a year now & STILL they have NOT addressed the issues. read more

Jimmy the manager is horribly rude and refuses to help his tenants. They also refuse to answer calls or calls back. They completely lie about status of building inspections and completely ignore state regulations for safety maintenance. My experience with Meridian Properties has been nothing but positive. The management company has been attentive, responsive and helpful throughout my entire time in the building. The Superintendent has gone above and beyond to be available and accommodating, no matter what the situation may be. There have been numerous instances where the superintendent has gone out of his way to help me; whether I locked myself out of the apartment or I needed someone to check on the apartment while I was out of town. The property manager has also made my overall experience exceptional. Every question or concern I have had has been promptly resolved and no email goes without an immediate response. I kept getting packages stolen so I finally went there to ask to see the camera they display in the mail room just to be told the cameras don't work and "there is nothing they can do about it"... Also the supper a very nice guy but when I call to schedule him to come he either shows up 2 months later or doesn't show up at all. They do not take their job serious and are very rude there... Avoid at all costs. I have lived in one of their buildings for over a year and a half and have had nothing but issues. This is one of those landlords that own a ton of buildings and sacrifice quality for quantity. When I moved in, a pipe broke in my bedroom and the ceiling collapsed, narrowly missing my bed. It was fixed but I had to sleep in a very dangerous environment with bit of sheetrock and mold falling on me while they did a hack job fixing it. The super lied to me and told me that it never had happened, but a neighbor who used to live in this unit told me it has happened many times. The pipe wasn't fixed properly and broke a few feet away from the first break and the ceiling collapsed a second time. The super was defensive and yelled at me for no reason, like it was my fault. He is so rude and unhelpful. Management never offered to put me up in a safer environment while they fixed it which took a couple weeks.It stank like all the crap in the ceiling and wet wall for weeks and weeks The front door lock was broken for months. Someone in my building stole my dog. I ended up getting him back after offering a reward, and later I found out it was the super's niece. The super had seen that my dog had gotten out and hadn't notified me because he "thought I did it on purpose" (I am literally a purse dog person who is seen kissing and carrying my little guy everywhere, not a "put my dog outside on purpsose") and next thing that happens is his niece takes him and the reward? Very very shady. I am afraid to call the super for anything now, because I don't want him in my apartment plus he yells at me like I am a problem when I ask him to fix anything. Recently, there has been a fly infestation in the basement and many in my apartment. The basement has laundry, and when I am down there I see men shuffling around in pajamas. I am fairly certain the super is renting out storage spaces to live in to people. My fridge just broke and when I called the super, someone else said he was on vacation and could not help and to call the office. The office is closed on the weekend and Monday is a holiday, so I suspect all my food will spoil. Not bad enough? The woman next door was placed by CAMBA, I found out. This would be fine, but she screams as if she is being attacked (she isn't - she just sees things that aren't there) intermittently all day and all night. I've lost so much sleep over her. When I asked her to be quieter, she hit me with her cane. She does some kind of spells and pours tinctures and oils on my door. I have complained to management about her at least 100 times and they always say they've contacted her agency. I think I've seen an actual case worker there maybe 4 times in a year and half so they aren't dealing with her appropriately. My rent stabilized neighbor on the other side of her is convinced she was placed there to get her out. I am the third or fourth tenant in this unit in the past couple of years and I recently just broke my least and am moving out soon. TLDR: The cheap rent isn't worth it. Horribly run, corrupt and opportunistic super, ineffective management. read more

If you want a building superintendent (Dennis) and building manager (Jimmy) that ignore you for two months, this is the management company for you. I've reached out via email, phone call, text, through their website, etc and they still won't even respond let alone address the issue I'm having. The only person that's been remotely helpful is the receptionist but ultimately she can't fix the issue so we're still at square one. Moved in June 2021, immediately our bathroom ceiling sprung a leak and flooded our walls, the super was "too busy" to handle it for two weeks, and when he finally did come, he knocked a hole in our ceiling, lied and said it was fixed, and water continued to pour in. Flash forward to December 2021 and we have black mold all over our bathroom ceiling (because the super lied and did not properly fix it), and in our bedroom closet. Feels dirty that they raised our rent in the middle of the Pandemic when our lease expired. Feel like a prisoner knowing rent prices are dropping all over the city and I'm stuck here paying 1900. I lived in one of their building for 9 years. I needed a bigger apartment after 3 years and when one became available they charged me a "turn key" fee which is illegal. It was basically the amount I would have had to pay the real estate agent. I had just paid an agent three years before plus security deposit. I didn't care because it was a great apartment, but these are the type of people who are running things over at the management office. We purchased a home and our lease was up. The renovation was delayed by a month and I called the management company to let them know we would be there one month beyond our lease. I left two messages. Over two weeks later, Nadine Buddy called to ask why I had not signed the lease agreement. I told her I left two messages and would need to extend my lease for one month. She told me that it would not be possible unless I signed the new lease. I said that it made no sense to sign a year lease for one month and I was sending in the rent check. After going around in circles with the convo, for a ridiculous amount of time, I finally told her not to contact me again. She was aggressive and unnecessarily rude. The super of the building is wonderful but is no conciliation for having to deal with an animal like Nadine. I had previously spoken to Mattie who is lovely and kind. I'm not sure why they would replace Mattie with Nadine but they should really reconsider employing such a disgusting person. Not a good look. read more

I'm a current tenant at one of Meridian's properties and recently (as in a week ago) had to deal with Nadine Buddy for a lease renewal. WORST. PERSON. She is incredibly aggressive, combative, rude and insanely unprofessional in each and every encounter I've had with her. Others in the office have been lovely, however she is grossly unqualified to provide any level of customer service based on her disgusting demeanor. Good luck trying to get a word out, ask a question or say anything without being cut off, spoken over or being spoken to in a condescending tone. Nadine won't provide any actual answers to your questions, will give vague (or no reasoning at all) for decisions and will leave you wanting to visit their office and have it out in person. She'll also tell you one thing over the phone, then completely deny it in writing and twist the entire issue to make it sound like you're the one being difficult. Again, WORST. PERSON. I found Meridian's broker NICOLE JAMES extremely unhelpful throughout my apartment application process. I was denied an apartment that I can easily afford, despite the fact that I have a guarantor. I have wasted a lot of time and $75 on an application that was denied for vague reasons - Nicole rarely replied to my emails and texts over the course of two days, and wouldn't have even told me that I was denied the apartment rental if I hadn't personally called her. When I called the office to complain, they told me that I can only interact with the specific broker and that they couldn't help me at all. Awful, rude people. I will never rent an apartment with Meridian in the future. read more

Meridian Properties is a complete scam. After finding an apartment my roommate and I filled out applications and added all necessary paperwork (we were both using guarantors). We collectively paid 300$ for the application. We then continuously contacted Meridian Properties about the status of our application. They were extremely vague and unhelpful throughout the process. After several days of emailing and phone calling they finally responded, informing us that our application had been denied. At first they refused to give a reason, but upon further questioning they said it was an issue with one of our guarantor's, refusing to specify. Our guarantor's both have outstanding credit and steady incomes, so this came as quite a shock. We still are unaware exactly what the issues was. Don't deal with this management! Nadine Buddy will drive you nuts. Even if you have a perfect credit and high salary, Nadine Buddy will give you a very hard time and might never give you an apartment anyway. She does not care how and with what agent you saw the apartment, she forces you to deal with her agent, that is extremely rude and far away from the building. After dealing with this management, you would not want an apartment in their building, you would definitely want to find apartment elsewhere. read more

There's no customer service in this Brooklyn office. They set a list with different extensions for tenants to call when there's an issue. But once you called and delivered your message or asked a simple question. People there tries to twisted your words and put words in your mouth. The worst is they tried to bullied you and belittle you. What type of management office is that ? Especially when the so called manager is the one that's doing it. So imagine the manager acts and talks like that. That's why the majority of the other women also acts like that too. Instead of being proactive and get to the bottom of the issue. They were rude, disrespectful and even obnoxious. There were times this guy hangs up on people. Wow real customer service. It's a zoo there. That's not the way to help and assist tenants. What a disgrace. These tenants are paying for rent, they have the right to call the management office when there's an issue. They are the ones whose paying for your job.
