I booked myself a 1hr Deep Tissue Massage with Melissa ($120) and had a great experience. Melissa was very thorough in explaining her techniques and ensuring that I was always comfortable with the amount of pressure. I like a lot of pressure, so that it really feels like my muscles have gotten their knots worked out. Melissa wasn't afraid to use a lot of pressure (I find some RMTs almost seem scared to do too much) and I appreciated that. Once the massage was done, she reminded me to drink lots of water and to apply heat if possible. She said that I would feel like I had a workout the next day and possibly have some bruising. She was right - I did have some bruising, but my muscles also felt the best that they have in a long time. Definitely worth it and I recommend Melissa if you want a lot of pressure in your massage. She was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. As for the massage room itself, it was dimly lit with soft relaxing music and it was clean - pretty standard. What was a nice touch though was that there was a heating pad on the table that I could lie on to stay warm in addition to a sheet to put over me. This clinic doesn't do direct billing for members of the Public Service. I think they do for other plans. There is plenty of free parking and Mavericks Donuts is walking distance if you really want to splurge and get yourself a donut to pamper yourself! ;)

I started visiting Lucy when she worked at the Woodroffe Chiropractic Clinic, due to severe migraines and an old cheerleading injury (you can stop laughing now...some "tiny" girl fell on my neck!). In addition to be super sweet and kind, she is really skilled at what she does. She made getting through life that much easier. Lucy moved to Hands on Health a few years ago, and I really like vising this place. Their location is in Centrepointe, in what looks like a row of nice, new town homes, but is actually a group of small businesses. They're office is located in the downstairs portion of one of the town homes, and is stunningly decorated (they sued to have teh designers card there, but I can't remember her name!) to make you feel relaxed and calm. I've never visited any of the other practitioners, but I've spoken to a few of them and they're delightful. They really care about the clients (Lucy remembers things I told her years ago, and always asks about loved ones and goals I've mentioned) and client satisfaction is really important to them. After being diagnosed with a chronic pain condition a few years back, Lucy helped even more, with stretching techniques, relaxation tips and deep tissue massage. The staff also offers services like hot stone therapy, Reiki, pregnancy and infant massage, myofascial release and tons more. check them out if you're in pain, or just need to relax. I went on a Saturday, which was great because I got an appointment very easily, but when I arrived I sat in the lobby for about 10 minutes without anybody around or greeting me. Definitely very minimal staff there on weekends. The actual massage was wonderful, and I left feeling so relaxed. The insurance processing was also incredibly easy, which was nice. Will definitely be booking another visit very soon!
