Me & My girlfriend booked a Scuba Tour for this past saturday, september 15th,we were told it was $95 for the tour and $70 for the gear rental. Vanessa told us that we would be joining another couple and that she would confirm the meeting point since the cove wasn't having good visibility later.
She decided it was better to dive at the canyon , so we met by the shore at 7:30.
While assembling the gear, some minor problems started, the weight bag zipper was broken so Vanessa put it together using some seals, during our walk to the beach my alternate regulator wouldn't stop loosing air, even tho we tried multiple times to stop it, it would stop for a moment and then start again.
During our first attempt to get pass the waves, it was nearly impossible, we stood in the water for almost 40 minutes, and waves kept coming bigger and bigger, once me & my girlfriend passed the waves, the other couple were behind us, so we had to wait, at one point vanessa helped me put of my fins on , but it was loose 2 mins from that, and we were both trying to put it back, waves kept hitting , and i felt exhausted, so we decided it was better to go back to the beach, i told her it was ok, and told her to go with my girlfriend and the other couple. while i was trying to get back to the beach , i lost one of my fins was it was too loose.
30 min after i got to the beach, every body came back again, cause they were too exhausted, and the guy from the other couple was having cramps. my girlfriend told that she lost her mask while coming back from the beach
after we rested a bit, we were asked if we wanted to give it a second shot, if not we would be refunded for the second dive. the other couple and i decided to try the second dive, my girlfriend didn't want to try it again so she left, after that vanessa told me she didn't actually loose the mask, that she counted and were all there.
we went back to the shore, during the walk i mentioned vanessa my alternate regulator was still loosing air, she hitted it a couple of times till it stopped for a moment, and told me that if it happened under water i should breathe through that one.
This time we could pass the waves and went to the point where we would dive. under water when we started diving, she was ahead of the group, the visibility wasn't that good, but it was ok, but she kept a long distance from us, without checking if we were there.
at one point , minutes right after we started, we lost the other's couple boyfriend, and we had to stay there while vanessa looked for him.
the whole dive was boring, we didn't go to the canyon as she said we would do. there was nothing to see , only sand. She was at a long distance from us, playing with her camera, and looked back only a couple of times, we were trying to stay close to her and not loose her.
i was constantly checking for my oxygen level, we were supposed to go back after the first of us reached half tank. she didn't ask for our oxygen levels at any point, only when i was a bit under 1000 and i went to her until she noticed me, and told her i was under 1000 of oxygen, she then asked the rest of the group, and we headed back to the shore.
after all, i asked her how much i owed her for the fin, so she called the store, and they told her it was $35, so when i asked her how much was the refund for my girlfriend's second dive, she conveniently $35
(which really doesn't make sense that 50% of the original $95 is $35), but anyways, all i wanted to do is go back to town.
also, after a couple of hours she told that my girlfriend did actually loose her mask (after telling me in person she didn't loose it and that all masks were there) , and that the cost was $30, she then sent me a square invoice for $35 ( $5 extra, i don't know for that reason), which i paid.
It wasn't a good experience, Vanessa is a nice person, with a good humor, she clearly loves diving, but i don't think she's still ready to run a business, she never asked for our certifications, the gear she rents is not the best, and in my opinion a group of 4 was just too much for her to handle. read more
