Relatively new Tattoo/piercing shop. Veteran owned. Ron and company do great work. The decor in this place is fantastic. Very clean, make appointments in advance. Everyone needs at least one tattoo. :) (I always forget how much they hurt)

This area doesn't have a lot of reviews on local tattoo shops but Mermaids Mark had solid reviews so I stopped in for a price and to make an appointment. Ronald greeted me when I walked in the door and was very friendly and professional. I'm not very artistic so I told him what I was thinking about and he gave suggestions to fine tune the tattoo I wanted in memory of my dad that passed away last year. He was available right then as he had just had a cancellation. I got a beautiful tattoo and a great price. I will be back there next time I pass through this area

This is my first time going to a tattoo shop do I don't know anything about getting tattoos. Do they have a selection of tattoo designs you can pick from or do you pick your personal choice from the internet and how do they trace it?

Philip, You can do it either way. Typically they have books and books and books of tattoos you can choose from or if you have something in mind bring a picture. They make a transfer of the picture which then goes on your skin for them to "trace".… Read more

Mind you, I'm vacationing here with the BF so I wanted to ensure my stubborn butt cartilage piercing wouldn't close up. Since we were in downtown Carlisle, the parking was on the street but wasn't busy. Thankfully, we were there when they opened at 12. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by all the gnarly art work and the this dope guy who asked how he could help. I told him my issue and he was helping alongside the assistance of who I believe is their residential piercer, Lexi. Lexi was able to hook me up with a flat back stud that matched my second cartilage piercing. She helped put it in and we were set to go. Pricing was decent and they were super sweet. Sadly, I was only in town for a short amount of time or else I would have gotten another piercing. Overall, loved this place. Kind people, fun environment and reasonable prices!

She did a great job, was very professional, and provided a very clean and sanitary environment. The price was affordable which included a pair of surgical steel earrings. Lexi was also very informative with the healing aftercare of the re-piercing along with an all-natural lotion. I loved the artistry shown thru-out the shop which demonstrated the artists talents. Thank you!

The process was smooth and simple. We showed up 10 minutes early and Liz was waiting. She and a gentleman tattoo artist greeted us and were both pleasant. We even had a little mishap coming in and everyone joked about it and made us feel more comfortable. We proceeded up to Liz's work space which was cute and quaint. She was very well organized and clean. We discussed placement and she helped my daughter make an educated decision. She asked about the meaning of the tattoo and we chatted the entire time. My daughter said she had a very light hand and is very happy with her new ink and is looking to book with Liz again in the future for her floral piece.

Some lines are noticeably thicker than others, and it looks like the needle had gone too deep in several areas. Instead of clean, smooth lines, the tattoo appears shaky and poorly done. I understand that no tattoo is perfect, but this goes beyond minor imperfections. For something this large and permanent, I expected a much higher level of precision. I was there for many hours and spent hundreds of dollars to be left with a big embarrassment.

So-- I thought I'd tell you how it was-- in case you too are teetering on the edge of indecision and needed just a little push to compel you to take the plunge too. I worked with Mike Bradley-- and he was fantastic. I gave him two images that I liked, then he came up with an original work from those ideas-- and he is an artist-- with an artist's eye for detail and precision-- and in the end, the work was spectacular. In the end, the piece took about five hours. Needless to say, getting a larger tattoo means pain-- and I think I'd gone in underestimating just how important it is that the artist doing the work is personable and patient and thoughtful. Mike was all of these-- which took the edge off of the pain and made the time fly. So! If you're looking for quality and skill, I highly recommend Mike at 717 in Columbia. The place offers piercing and tattooing services, and jewelry as well. It's clean, and the staff is helpful and accommodating, and it's not too far off Route 30, and has cheap, metered street parking. And you know how it is: tattoos are a little like them Lay's potato chips-- it's really hard to stop at just one. When I went in I had no intention of getting more-- but now I'm reconsidering; I had such a positive experience, and I don't know that I can articulate just how much I love the piece that I will carry on my back for the rest of my days-- and I want more. So, if you were looking to support a locally owned business, and support our local artists, you should definitely check out 717.
