This company will take your money and run! These people are equivalent to the Daddy who tells the kids I'll be back getting milk and cigarettes, and then GHOSTS! Quality of work will appear to be great however as time progresses, and the materials begin to settle in, you will begin to see the defects on the sh1ty workmanship they provide. They will tell you they will cover workmanship yet, when it's time for them to do their part, they will be no where to be found. They will stall you. So if you are lucky to get a hold of them, ensure you lock in the date and time, and keep everything recorded so when the time comes you can protect yourself. They will send you a guy name Earl, he will tell you that they are working on getting things done for you that he cares for you blah blah , however when you show them how the walls look (refer to the pics I shared) they will "agree" with you and you will be told, let me check with the "boss" and see to make it right. Well that will be the story line you will get. I did however get some support from the gentlemen I just named, (not sure if it was because we were still months away from our so called workmanship contract) when I first moved here permanently, and time for us to install my washer the outlet was completely different from what it was originally with.c he did recommend me what to get and he ended up coming out to get that taken care off, again not sure if it was a front due to we still had several months left before that 1 year of new builders "warranty" . Fast track to today's date, after talking to the owner over the phone and me expressing how the people he contracted to do work on his behalf representing his name , was defected he himself said there was nothing he can do, I don't know if he even cared to see the videos I sent but as you can see in the pictures of the wall I shared, that looked like some folks from home depot did that wall who had not license to work on walls. Heck some of his own people told me that that wall was unacceptable. Anywho, not sure if I'm being petty or childish however I don't want for anyone to have to deal with what I'm dealing with. To be fair, my neighbor told me that he himself had the same issue with them trying to repair workmanship. He said it was like pulling teeth to get them to dos his stuff, what he did was opted let it go since the hassle was not worth it. When the Merrill's sent some folks to the house to repair the bathroom running boards about two weeks ago, and as of today the boards are not taken care off. I trusted their process and it appears that this company is not in the "building relationships with their customers" , how they have been in business for this long is beyond me. The companies reps they send to you will be sweet talking to you and buying time (from the experience and actions I have seen from dealing with them upon requesting the company meets their part of the bargain, maybe some other folks have had better luck but I'm expressing what has taken place in my situation showing the pics ) and will not be completing what they said they covered. Overall I would stay away from the Merrill's home improvement/building company. Had I known how they operate, I would have never trusted them. So please be careful and don't let get played by the GOOD COP BAD COP. All they are doing is buying time for themselves. They may be "affordable, but not worth the hassle!! Ensure your fellow veterans are fully aware of your in a leadership position ensure you inform Your soldiers who are looking into purchasing a home, to please ask who the builder is. When they are doing the walk through, please ensure to inform them not to take their realtors word nor the sellers realtors word that they have 1 year of warranty, if they see something wrong with the property looking into purchasing have them get it fixed immediately before they sign any contract! Merrell Home Improvement enclosed our screened porch and repaired/rebuilt our existing deck. We are very pleased with the results. Mr. Merrell communicated with us every step of the process; the crew was polite and kept a clean worksite. We were not intending to address the deck, but Mr. Merrell took the time to investigate the structural issues and proposed a solution. Merrell added a screened in deck enclosure to our lakehouse. The product was great but the follow-up service was terrible. There were some issues that needed to be addressed but they were never completed. A person would show up but never would have what was needed the resolve the "issues": tall ladder, proper length screws, replacement screen, etc. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

We contracted Merrell back in October 2021 for a 7'x9' master bathroom remodel. They never called us to tell us when they were starting, but mentioned when we signed the contract in October that permits would have to be pulled and that could take a month or so. We had to reach out to them numerous times and were strung along for months without any information. Finally they sent someone out to "take a look." Then radio silence for weeks. We kept calling, but got no answers. Then another team comes to look and they have no clue about the last guy that came to look or that there was any issue with communication at all! They finally begin demo March 17, 2022. It's said to be a 6 week job, but they managed to squeeze it into 5 MONTHS. Every step of the way I had to keep correcting the job, advocating for quality work. We paid a LOT for our tiny bathroom and they not only gave us the LOWEST budget allowance for all of our items (like they said the tile we picked out for the floors had to be $1.99/sqft or less. You can't even find tile ANYWHERE at that price point! But if we went over, we had to pay the difference!), they found the cheapest most incompetent laborers out there! None of the walls were primed so all the mudding shows through the paint. The board and baton was spaced at randomly different intervals instead of being evenly spaced. They had to come rip it out twice. They never did get it right. They completely forgot to add it to three different walls, and is having off one of the walls altogether! I was out of state working a Covid ICU nursing contract so I could pay for the remodel, so I couldn't see everything in person, unfortunately. The paint job is absolutely atrocious. But here's the clincher, they didn't even install a shower liner! It's been leaking under our house from day one. They didn't tighten the pipes under the vanity so there's water damage to the new vanity from the 1st day of installation. They got black paint all over my white vanity, then tried to cover it up with mismatched caulking or something. They said we owed the last payment so we paid, then they they never came back to finish it. they put our old door back on, but never painted the casing or the door, left literal dirt all over the door and frame. Forgot to place a baseboard. I get back from my contract and see the "finished job." I called them the next day to have them come fix and finish everything. They told us we signed a job completion form and it was done. They argued with me taking me they had my signed paper on file indicating I was pleased with the job. It wasn't until I told them I wasn't even on the same side of the country when they say I signed the paper that they finally looked in their records to find I was telling them the truth. For months I called them to get something done about the poor quality of work they did and also to just finish the job! It wasn't until I posted on Clarksville Chat on Facebook that they listened. Then they tried to say the shower was lined and everything that wasn't cosmetic was absolutely done right. Then I found the pics that showed it wasn't done right. That's when I learned they didn't pull permit either, so there were no inspections of any of the work done. But they insisted there were permits. They were wrong. So then they send someone who might actually do a good job, but then he doesn't want to pay her to fix the work. He wants to pay ME so I can hire her separately to fix cosmetic stuff, and that way none of her work is guaranteed by his company, even though he hand picked her! I decline that "offer" because I want the company to remain accountable for their work. I had to call a lawyer, and get building and codes personally involved just so I knew how to proceed with this mess. Codes finally told Merrell (I'm guessing) that he had to fix it all, period. So he says he'll start first week in Jan. But he still hasn't pulled permits to show me he's willing to have it inspected. Then he calls and just wants to refund the money. The owner talks like he's pissed AT ME for expecting quality work. We still haven't decided. In a nutshell, don't even let Merrell into your mind, much less into your house!! read more

If I could give this business ZERO stars based on our experience with having them build a sunroom and deck for our home, I would. I could write pages on the issues we had and the poor quality of the work that was completed and the even poorer treatment we received, but I'll aim to spare you some time and summarize why I recommend you do NOT give this business your hard-earned money. - We signed the contract for our project with the salesperson we'd been working with in November 2019. The project was contracted to begin January 2020 and take 8 weeks, and we were told to expect a design meeting next. - January 2020 - we had to follow up on next steps. No one seemed to have any idea what was supposed to be going on. - April 2020 - work finally commenced. Over the next 4 months, we discovered something was done wrong on an almost daily basis, with us having to constantly point it out and the work being completely redone. Wrong materials were delivered. The deck was framed 2 feet short. The framing was done with old, rotting wood from our original deck they tore down. Holes were cut in the floor for electrical outlets (they were to go in the walls). The roof was leaking. The composite was installed so improperly it looked like a kid did it. The skylights (that we didn't initially want and the salesperson talked us into free of charge, assuring us they "install them all the time and never have issues with them leaking") leaked from almost day 1. The electrical inspection failed several times. The roofing inspection failed several times. I could keep going. - July 2020 - the project was finally completed. Two days after we took occupancy - the skylights were leaking again, now all over our brand new furniture. The company came and "fixed" it. - May 2021 - skylights leaked badly again - they came and "fixed it" - August 2021 - skylights leaked badly again - they sent some guys out who told us they'd been installed wrong, but they "fixed it" - Less than 2 weeks later - the skylights leaked worse than ever before. Water was pouring in from them AND leaking into the room through cracks in the ceiling and from the ceiling fan. We called and asked if they would remove the skylights and replace the roof, insulation and ceiling. They said yes verbally over the phone AND in writing by email. - September - they removed the skylights and replaced the roof. They started demo-ing the ceiling. They needed to finish the roof flashing, ceiling demo, and insulation and ceiling replacement. This work was scheduled, and we were told to move all the furniture out of the room and did so. - They didn't show up. When we called, we were put on the phone with some guy that had never been to our home, knew nothing about our project, and had not been involved in any of the conversations about the repairs. He indicated no repairs would be made. - We began several very frustrating weeks of following up with them and reminding them they told us verbally and in writing they would make these repairs. The guy finally sent out a huge crew after telling us they would come and do the repairs as agreed to verbally and in writing, but when they showed up they refused to do the repairs as agreed. They wanted to just fill the holes in the ceiling (which would have looked like trash) and call it a day, never mind the roofing flashing was still incomplete. - We called our attorney and considered legal action. The first step was to find out the cost of repairs so that we knew what to ask for in the case. - We had several contractors come out, ALL of who said ALL of the work done with the roofing, the ceiling, the framing inside the roof, and the skylight installation was done in a faulty, defective manner. All took photos and showed us damaged wood, missing roofing brackets, damaged flashing and roofing, poor roofing that would have resulted in additional leaking if not corrected, and so on. - Due to the builder's faulty and defective work, we had to sink CONSIDERABLY more money into repairs. I hope this review and these insights will help someone else avoid being taken advantage of by this company like we were. - Please feel free to message me if you'd like further information/photos/videos. read more

They literally LIED and said that someone had gone to my house to look at what was needed, but came back and said "we don't go out to look at homes that are using insurance for repairs" when I kept asking for the quote. Why they hell didn't they say this 3 weeks ago?! Completely wasted my time and my property has been in disarray because of them for weeks. Steer clear. Scumbag company. read more

Although the projects took longer than expected, the quality of the work was worth waiting for. We had four different projects completed including adding a screen door, installing a door in our garage to the back yard, installing a window in our dining room where there had just been a wall, and finally a 3 Season room. All of the different workers and crews that came to our home were polite, hard working, cleaned up after themselves, and did an overall great job. I would recommend Merrell unless you're in a hurry or are willing to document in your contract an "end date" that they have to abide by. TIP: For better and easier communication, leave messages with the receptionist Kim - she was GREAT in making sure that people got back to you in a timely manner. read more

Installation took weeks. They replaced my nice wood trim with cheap oak laminate trim. They damaged other trim in my house as well. I could not even get the salesman to call me back. I left messages for a supervisor but he would not respond either. Please spend your money carefully. This company took advantage of us. read more

Signed contract and made 1/3 down payment for bathroom remodel. Had been in contact with salesman (Barry) selecting various items to install. Never once did he indicate there were issues with the cost. Now, Two and a half months later received a copy of contract with "Canx" written across it and return of my down payment, no explanation, no interest (2.5 months worth on $4200). Contacted next business day and person who answered the phone (Hope) told me she would find out what happened and call me back that day. I did not receive a call back. I contacted them the following day and talked to a manager. She (Kim) said that the contract was cancelled because of an increase in cost of materials, they could no longer do the job at the quoted price. Absolutely horrible communication and terrible customer service. Wouldn't use this company to scoop up horse crap after a parade. Completely wasted my time. Too bad for them because, I had several other remodel projects had they shown themselves to be worthwhile. Oh, and did I mention this was a bathroom remodel for a elderly, handicapped, veteran? I totally recommend Merrell Home Improvement... Had windows installed and these guys know what they are doing.. I bought high dollar lifetime warranty window so I wouldn't ever have to worry about windows ever again. The men were professional, friendly, took down my blinds and re-installed them when they got the new windows in. They didn't have to do that.. I asked and without hesitation they happily re-installed my blinds... Very very very happy customer right now.. I have future plans to get a new roof and to get my bathrooms re-modeled and Merrell Home Improvements will be the business I call.. read more
