I have always enjoyed this Barnes & Noble location. They offer a wide range of great options for books and small gifts. Staff have always been friendly to me, and the location always looks clean and organized. One thing the location would improve is the seating area in Starbucks, and installing areas where computer users can plug their items in while conducting work there. I cannot find any outlets that are accessible in the seating areas of the cafe. Remodeling the cafe area to provide more seating options and accommodate customers' needs will attract more business. I hope you expand out to the Waterville, Maine, area. read more

I normally don't give bad reviews but it's been a while so here one is.... Big issue here. I am visiting family and needed a quiet place to work, so I stopped in thinking this establishment would be like all the others. Nope. That wasn't the case. 1. Their Starbucks are not associated with official Starbucks's and They do not take the mobile app or gift cards for payment. It was hard to watch the employees cringe when they had to state that 5 times after I walked in to other patrons. 2. No outlets. Zero outlets, to plug into, to do studying or work. I was told the only outlets were along the wall in the book store and I would have to sit on the floor..... because that was the only option for even local students..... unsatisfactory.... 3. They were out of almond milk..... 4. The store is lucky they have really nice employees, otherwise this would have been a lower rating. read more

I go to this Barnes & Noble frequently and think the store and its employees are great. warm, friendly and very helpful. In fact even when I order books I have the sent to the stores rather than to my home. I enjoy checking out what new things are in the store. plus, I buy most of my books I give for gifts at the store. read more

I'm torn about how I feel about Barnes and Noble - on one hand, it's a big box store and that takes away from the "little guy". On the other hand, it's an actual physical bookstore that gives local people jobs while forcing customers to make eye contact with other real human beings instead of zoning out behind screens while "adding to cart". As a writer I'm always worried about the future of my industry. More and more people are using technology to buy and read (or do everything else but read), so anytime a book store is doing well, promotes local authors and community endeavors, I can't help but be extremely content. Especially when I hear things like what the manager of this Barnes and Noble told me recently: YA is their most popular genre, with more and more tweens and teens are coming in to read and buy books. I hope this is a nationwide trend! Barnes and Noble has an interesting agenda... They have free WIFI and people can come and go as they please with their laptops to use it, they are also totally okay with people reading books in the oversized chairs like they're a library and not actually selling books. I think this is very clever and hope it works to their advantage. The store is clean and well organized, the employees are all well versed in literature, authors, magazines, etc. - the patient staff is also extremely accommodating with requests of all kinds -, and the cafe seems efficiently run (and makes a helluva decent double shot soy latte). Again: content is the general feeling one leaves here. Be sure to take advantage of all the opportunities Barnes and Noble offers, as they have plenty of hands on activities for kids, lectures, and more. Did a pre-order online back on April. They got their money and canceled my order. Now they refuse to refund my money and now can't even reorder the preorder because it's no long available online. Called and the lady and supervisor were incredibly rude. Supervisor told me she was not sorry and continued to belittle and call me a liar. So they got their money and I'm out almost $40 with out my preorder. Bunch of thieves. read more

It's a nice bookstore , not as big as i like to see but its ok! They do have some comfy chairs but only a few and the cafe is good but over priced. Most of the time they don't seem to have what i am looking for and want me to order it! If you need a book fast and they have it then this is your place! read more

Wonderful bookstore of a dying breed. We bought a bunch of Thomas the Train sets and had a 40% off members coupon and most of the sets were 35% off for members. Great prices and helpful staff. Check out woman helped us get our full discount by calling the manager on her own without us asking at all. Clean store and great selection. They didn't have the Thomas the Train setup as some stores do, but they still had a great selection. Lucky to have the store in Augusta, hopefully for a long time. Went to this location yesterday to return a book my wife had purchased quite some time ago. I was surprised that they actually let us bring it back for store credit. Don't ever joke with the management about using Kindle though. I was told not to come back. Pretty sure it was a joke but she didn't seem very jovial about it. read more

Considering it's the only Barnes & Noble in Maine, I'm going to give it five stars. It has a great selection of books, and I found it comfortable and bright (like most B & N stores across the country). I just wish they would have more stores across the state! read more

I ordered a book through Barnes & Noble Marketplace. It was written that the order would ship within 1-2 business days. Three business days after I put in my order, I got an email stating delivery would be 3 weeks. I contacted the seller, bookXpress in NY, via email, twice, with no reply back. I then contacted B&N the following day and they told me they couldn't help me even though it states in their writing that they would contact the seller on our behalf. I am done with doing business with B&N and with the seller at bookXpress. Do not believe what the writing states if you choose to order from them. read more

I have an intrinsic problem with Barnes & Noble allowing customers to sit and read books for free without purchasing them. Sadly, I saw several cracked book spines to attest to this. Prices are high here, even when they have a discount sticker on them it barely brings it to the online price, and nowhere near Amazon's price. read more

Since we lost our Book stores in Brunswick, this location is pretty much the only good one besides Portland. This place has a great selection of Magazines, but I would avoid buying Books here due to being overpriced. Inside is a cozey liitle cafe that has a nice selection of Treats and Coffee. I am disappointed with the lack of respect the management team has shown me. Don't go here if you'd like guidance to the appropriate direction of a certain book. Barnes and Noble has gone down hill...what happened to this place? I can see why bookstores are a dying breed. Over priced books fill the shelves here. I guess if you can't wait for something to be delivered than you kinda have to come here but in my mind it's easier to have a book that's cheaper delivered to my door. Two stars for an overpriced place. read more
