We had issues communicating with them originally. I wasn't getting emails from them. The service was mediocre for the amount I paid. There were areas missed and for safety reasons you do not have your particular cleaners number so if something happened, you cannot reach them right away. I wouldn't be 100% opposed to service in the future but I would be very observant that what I wanted done was complete. read more

They started off great. The women who came to clean were extraordinary, however over time, scheduling became a nightmare. No one would show up, and I got the excuse of "we're short handed", yet I was still charged AND NOT NOTIFIED the day of. Had to call main office to CANCEL and get a refund. They charged 2 hours for one hour's work. They rate my apartment 'two hours' but got it done in one hour. The 'merry maid' rate is effectively $260,000 a year. They took pictures of things they would not clean rather than discuss it. Glaringly missed dirt and/or things grossly out of order or place. They take your trash away with them for some reason. I gave them great ratings for first visits but 7 visits later I dismissed them. read more

Avoid! The job was apparently too overwhelming for the young woman they sent out to do a whole house cleaning. She called for help and they made up a story for the owner about there being cat feces all over my house. ABSOLUTELY UNTRUE! The Field Office Manager came out in June to give me a quote. She looked at everything. No problems mentioned other than I would need to vacuum the kitty litter off the tile floor in the master bath before they got here July 9th. The reason she said was the maid would have to kneel on the bathroom floor and "ouch". Well, that made perfect sense. The morning of the cleaning I emptied and washed the litter box, took the bath mat that sits under it outside and beat any excess kitty litter out of it, then vacuumed the tile floor. Meanwhile, I'd contracted with them (at a substantial price) to clean the entire house in preparation for putting it on the market. Dust, mop, vacuum. What the young woman did was clean the dual sinks/vanity in the MB, the toilet and the tub. She didn't seem to have a problem with cleaning the tub or the toilet in the master bath (she was wearing knee pads). But after lunch she called for help. The woman who gave me the original quote showed up. Together they cleaned the kitchen counter tops, sink and appliances. But then they conferred and said they couldn't mop the master bathroom floor because of the cat litter. (Remember, it wasn't a problem when the young woman was cleaning the toilet or the tub. Think: "excuses".) I have the original paperwork. They were supposed to clean the entire house. At a fairly substantial price, mind you. The problem is, they didn't do it. Just those few things in the master bath and in the kitchen. Only some surface items in the master bedroom were dusted. None of the the other rooms were touched. They didn't vacuum anything. The guest bathroom was completely ignored. They started spouting OSHA regulation crap at me about cat litter, which, when I talked with the owner turned into claims of "cat feces all over the house". Ridiculous! The carpet is white and it IS stained, but not with cat feces! And the woman who gave me the quote saw the entire house when she came over in June. Then before they left (and when I called to complain) they tried to talk me into calling one of their affiliated (and more expensive) companies to finish cleaning the house! No thank you. Frankly, I think the young woman just wasn't up to the task. So she called for help, then they made up a story to tell the owner so they could leave. I have the original paperwork which clearly shows every room they were supposed to clean. It sure didn't happen that way. Thank god they hadn't cashed my check yet! Avoid this company. They absolutely do NOT do what they say they're going to do. Apparently they spend more money on glossy brochures than they spend on hiring people who will actually do the job. And they WILL try to sell you on an affiliated service company (Serv-Pro). Sorry, that's not going to happen. read more

Even though I read the poor review merry maid of Beaufort, I gave them a shot... HUGE waste of money. The girl did not know how to clean, her "boss" came to help her. She showed up an hour and a half late and then the 2.5 hour job turned into 4 hours, with two girl, for one kitchen and two bathes!!! I don't even know what she possibly could have been doing that whole time, it was very uncomfortable and a huge inconvience. I cancelled the service telling them they did a terrible job and it was not worth the $121 and they have talked me twice trying to find out what they did wrong. You dont know how to clean, that's it, plain and simple. Very annoying. If your looking for a good maid service, I would just ask your neighbors, so you dont have to do through and trials and tribulations I went through. read more

They used to be much better here, but quality of cleaning and customer service has gone downhill. Cost has gone up too - I pay more for a smaller place here than for our place in the NYC area. Office Manager can be abrasive. read more

This is the second time we've had Merry Maids clean our house. The first time was a major clean. The young ladies worked diligently and were a wonderful pleasure to have in our home. Terrible, Lazy & Unprofessional! I contracted with them for a service called The Merry Maids "Advantage" program. I am so disappointed that I'm paying them to break my "contract" and told them never to come back to my home. Every week, I came home and there was no relaxing- I had to sweep/clean up behind them. There was a revolving door of different people through the 6 months I used them. I specifically said I wanted the same person to come into my home each time. The work was not consistent, sloppy and it was clear the people didn't take the time to really clean. I had to call each week to remind the "field manager" how to do her job and make sure the cleaning people knew what I was needing. The "straw that broke the camel's back" was when the last maid made up my daughters bed. It was time for my daughter's nap and I put her in bed to find Leggo blocks in her sheets. Then to my surprise I could smell the urine odor and discovered the maid did not change the sheets- (my daughter is in midst of potty training...the sheets were soaked with urine from an accident she had the night before). The bed was just made up to look "fresh". I was totally disgusted! When I brought it to the "field managers" attention, she read me the OSHA legal jargon too. Whatever. They were changing my diaper genie for 6 months along with washing clothes until I had to stop that "special extra service" too for not doing it right either. I paid a premium price for "a la carte" services that they were unable to perform. These people are a bunch of unprofessional crooks that need to close this business. I now have a high quality Housekeeper for THE SAME PRICE who will spend all day caring to my home's needs and knows how to follow instructions. If anyone reading this wants her contact information- let me know, I will gladly share her expertise. Don't bother with Merry Maids of Beaufort. They are terrible!!! read more
