When they came back the next week I was being asked strange questions like what is in my basement, which made me feel like they were casing the place. The didn't clean stains I asked them to clean so I had to ask them twice and even then they missed spots (there were only 4 areas) The carpet was soaked when they were done and my furniture was just piled on top of each other. They didn't even put the plastic carpet protectors on my dining room table chairs, sofa, chairs end tables. They left dining room chairs on other furniture and left my piano bench on the sofa. When I asked for floor protector they just handed me some and I had to do it myself. They took the nosel off my bathroom sink to put it on their equipment. They put it back on and somehow crammed it on off the thread and it squirts out the sides all over the place. It was a total disaster. I can not even use my bathroom sink now. I hope I can salvage my carpet & the plumber doesn't cost too much. The company saw my review on google and called me. The guy I talked to said he was the owner & the weird questions were related to them trying to up sell. I told the best way of doing this would be just to ask if they could clean any other carpets not asking what was downstairs in my basement. It would of made their intentions clear and not left me the feeling my home was being cased. I explained to him the next day my carpet still was damp in areas, I got what I would call excuses. It was also no longer soft. I let him know other than not having water between my toes after a water extraction I would also expect after a cleaning that my furniture to put back in place with protectors on wooden legs and they at least check the faucet to make sure they got the cap threaded on. He offered to fix it and return my payment to me, if and only if I removed my review. I had planned on taking him up on the offer to get my payment returned in exchange for removing my unsatisfactory review (I was very uncomfortable about them returning). Later that same day I received a text from the guy that said he was the owner telling me to remove my review by 9 am the next morning or he would be contacting his attorney. I have included their text to me in a screen shot below. For me once a company threatens me with more aggravation for giving them the curtesy of a review & exercising my constitutional rights I am done with that company. I had an accident that resulted in paint spilling on a chair in the living room. The technician used some solvent and a brush but wasn't able to clean the chair. As I was also having my carpets cleaned, there were floor units in my home. The technician, without my consent or knowledge, decided to use a floor unit on my delicate chair to try to take out the paint and all it did was leave a water mark and worse yet, ruined the fabric. Since that didn't feel precise, I asked for someone to come out and confirm the estimate. A staff member visited, counted all the vents and intakes, and explained that we had more vents than expected for a home our size, which increased the price. I appreciated the transparency there. Before scheduling, I asked how long the job would take. I was told two hours. The day of service was where the problems began. Two Steamatic employees arrived at 9 a.m. They explained they needed to set up a large vacuum system in the basement. Unfortunately, this equipment required more power than anticipated, and it took nearly two hours just to find an outlet configuration that would work. Once they began cleaning, the process took much longer than the original estimate - they finished at 4:30 p.m. That's a seven-and-a-half-hour job, not the two hours I had been told. I contacted Steamatic to express my frustration. To their credit, the company responded quickly: a supervisor came out several days later to inspect the work and found several issues, including dust on walls and ceilings, vents missing screws, and others not secured properly. Within a few hours, a second crew was sent to correct everything. Steamatic ultimately made things right. I received a revised invoice with a $177 discount, which I appreciated, and a VP called me personally to understand what happened. The supervisor also explained that the job should have been estimated at five hours - not two. One final note: no matter how careful the team is, vent cleaning does create some dust in the home. That's simply part of the process. Bottom line: Based solely on the service day experience, I would have rated this a 1. But because of how they handled the issues- prompt follow-up, corrections, and a fair discount - I'm giving them a 3 out of 5.

Owner did not provide written itemized invoice near conclusion of job; then called police. She stated she thought I was not going pay her because I asked for invoice before paying. Her behavior could be described as a child throwing a temper tantrum. She and older son walked off the job before it was completed but not before she got her money. Charges were 2 -2 1/2 times greater than stated in BIG DEAL which I purchased. Workers took (stole) items they were told not to touch, some new and some irreplaceable; whether for their own use could not be determined. Estimated replacement costs at the time of known discarded items that should not have been was over $1000. As disabled senior I do not have that amount of extra cash just lying around. They stated they would bring vacuum but never did so asked to use mine. Bag was nearly full but they did not change it before using, therefore, burned out motor. Took unopened boxes of cereal and cans of soup. When there were multiples of an item, they discarded some such as one of two Igloo ice chests. Used MY terry cloth hand towel to clean kitchen floor. Claimed there was bio-hazardous waste but did not come prepared with appropriate clothing or equipment and did not use appropriate techniques if this were indeed the case. They certainly were not trained to work with bio-hazardous waste. Workers were owner's young sons with inadequate training and no supervision as owner stated she was on canoeing trip during that time. Even trained workers would not have been worth the hourly rate she charged in this situation. The boys were physically capable but not mature enough to make the decisions required especially in the home of a senior. The younger boy discarded the toy bear from my childhood because he thought it looked old and dirty. It is 70 years old, in good condition, and not that dirty. It was retrieved. Work was substandard. Owner made minimal effort to compromise on over-charges and inappropriately discarded items while police were on premises but totally refused to participate in mediation to resolve issues through Angie's List. I reported details of encounter to state attorney general's office and she refused to respond to their inquiries. Owner's web site at the time stated she had exceptional BBB rating but BBB had never heard of her or her business. I shared the same information with BBB as with Angie's List and state AG's office. She now has a D+ rating from BBB. In that documentation which was exchanged during attempted mediation through Angie's List owner consistently exaggerated her description of the issues. I have "before" pictures which owner is unaware of to prove extreme exaggerations made by her. The only consistency was the inconsistency of her statements. At the time of this encounter owner's business was not registered as a business entity in the state of Missouri although her web site stated the scope of her business included Kansas and Missouri. This work occurred in Missouri. I post this as a warning so other unsuspecting potential customers are not taken advantage of as I was, "ripped off," and violated.
