The two women who came to do an intense cleaning were very nice and hard working. Our condo became layered with dust on everything after some construction work. They cleaned everything and completed the work in time. My only complaint is that the cost is very high, so I won't hire them for ongoing work. read more

Hired Merry Maids to clean my new empty house before my household goods arrived. You would think that it would be an easy task. They sent 3 women to clean and I had to lie down- bad back and lots of moving boxes. 2 Hours later they finished and I was pleased that they we're leaving so I could rest. I guess I needed to walk around the entire time and instruct them. If they couldn't reach it or clean it without bending over- it didn't get cleaned. Swifer, vacuum and out. I ended up with a bill for 5 women for 3 hours and the place was filthy. I asked they pay particular attention to the white wire shelves in closets and bathroom. The painter asked me a week later if he should just paint those racks because they were dirty and sticky for years of dust and humidity. None of the corners of the bathrooms were cleaned, no windowsills,... and the bill was over $600. Lots of friends like this franchise; maybe I just got the worst crew and manager the organization has. I told them it was unacceptable and I would be back in town May 10th and to call me to redo the entire thing. Two women showed up that day knowing that I would turn them away as they were unexpected and my dogs are now here with me. I was really hoping that they would workout but absolutely not. Omg....overpriced, broke a blind and never told me, areas to be dusted were not, very slow, they never got to the family room and office. My home is only 1,400 square feet and they were here for 4 hours....total rip off... I'm embarrassed that I was so naive. Had merry maids do a deep clean of my home after tenants moved out. Dust was still on window sills etc. grime all over. They charged 760 dollars for absolutely substandard work. I would have been embarrassed to have a tenant move in as the place was not clean. I didn't even smell cleaning supplies upon returning home that afternoon. If I could give a negative review I would. Owners are greedy, vindictive, and focused only on how much money they can cheat out of you. They do not give clear indications about prices and just charge your card without any authorization, or advance notice. If you raise a serious issue, they turn it around on you, and threaten your privacy, they actually took photos of things in our home and tried to blackmail and extort us with them when we refused to pay due to a serious service issue. They then charged credit cards without any authorization to do so. Beware of this organization. There is no customer loyalty. They are cut throat and could care less about customers or resolving issues. read more

If only zero stars were an option... I called on Monday to set up an appointment for an in-home estimate the following Friday. I spoke with Lindsay and was assured that someone would be at my home by 10:30 am for a 30-minute walk through/estimate. Friday came and went with no phone call explaining if they were running late or if they had simply cancelled my appointment. I called their local number three times and where it rang with no answer. Called the 800-number where the customer service rep said it looks like they're too busy to answer their phone...really? Don't go through this horribly unprofessional business. read more

Matt the manager is hands down one of the most rude employees I've ever talked to. His team was over an hour and 30 minutes late to clean and never showed up. When I called the next day to point this out, he became angry like a child and hung up on me. WORST SERVICE EVER. Most horrible service and cleaning ever! Texted for an estimate for "basic" cleaning by specifying only cleaning floors & removal of stains on hardwood floor, vacuuming, cleaning glass table tops, mirrors and ceramic floors. Had to remind tho two non experienced teenagers - probably underage to work - to do the basics as we had asked, but nothing was being done, she was out the door either gossiping or texting as she coughed away not working and taking cigarette breaks. We called Matt the Manager and he started yelling at us because we were not satisfied for any of the work NOT DONE and were completely over charged for this. He was very arrogant and rude and didn't want to listen at all and he threatened me over the phone! All good reviews are FAKE - beware! read more

I came to the Sarasota area without any personal connections so I had to find someone I could trust without a recommendation. When I spoke with Amy during my initial call to Merry Maids she put my mind at ease: she assured me they were a family run business and they had generations of experience behind them. All of the women who have come to my home to clean have been friendly and efficient, they are in and out as quickly as possible without cutting corners on the cleaning. Matt has also been conscientious enough to come and inspect the work they're doing to assure quality and customer satisfaction. I couldn't ask for a better experience, I am very happy! read more

If only I could give negative stars.... This company is a disaster. I had the owner come out to look at the house and we decided that they would do what they could in three hours. Once the initial cleaning was done we would figure out a bi weekly schedule. What a nightmare! When they didnt show up during the two hour window with no phone call or text to explain why, I called only to get a surly employee who complained that she was incapable of keeping up with all of the teams they have running around. My first clue. Once they got there the two person team took over an hour to do a bedroom and a 3 X5 bathroom. The other hour was spent doing a quick and sloppy job in the kitchen and other bedrooms. After two and 1/2 hours watching this I realized it was late and they hesitated to do the mud room where I really wanted them to clean in the first place. They said they had to go and I decided this was the last time I hire this company. When I got the bill for 30 minutes more than they were here for, the owner refused to talk to me directly. He sent me to his manager who was defensive and hostile. In the end I am out $300 and have a dirty house and a conflict with my credit card company. I would gladly hire a homeless person with one arm before I would call these incompetent people again. Save yourself the aggravation. read more
