Coming back to get the acrylics off was not as pleasant of an experience. For one, I picked a time to stop in that was really busy (Sunday 2pm, if you're wondering) so I had a decent wait and was forgotten at the drying table. I don't know if he was speeding, but Manh didn't shape my nails as well as I thought and my polish is kinda flooded and bubbled. I couldn't tell inside, but they're filed low enough that I'll just have to wait to fix them. It was still easier than removing the acrylics at home. ---- I only get my nails professionally done for special occasions, so I don't have a regular and I'm always nervous about trying a new place. I walked in around 3:15 on a Tuesday for a set of acrylics and within moments, Thu was working on my nails. While I'd have liked a little attention to my natural nails before the acrylics, I'm really pleased with how they turned out. In the past, fake nails have been too thick and heavy or oddly shaped, but Thu did a wonderful job. The length is exactly perfect and the shape is consistent and flattering. I believe it was something like $27 before a tip - very affordable! I also appreciate being able to bring my own polish. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

I don't mind spending an hour for a luxury service but they rushed me out the chair anyways. I left with cut up fingers, and terribly done nails. Their terrible customer service included snatching my arm across my body so they could have two people do my nails at once, unknown extra charges of absurd amounts, and no care in my cut up cuticles/fingers. The nails lifted at the base and ripped my nail with them within the first two day. I've never wrote a review before but the terrible work/ customer service deserved it for the first time ever. read more

Bad experience with Jay, metal drummel was used aggressively on my natural nails to the point where it is very thin and painful. I let him know I was scared and he kept going. He cut me twice without providing alcohol, so I used my own hand sanitizer to cleanse the area. Do NOT recommend going there. read more

While visiting Iowa for a wedding, I came to Merry Nails with the Bride and mothers. I had a so-so experience, and didn't write a review at first. But after having the "Dip" removed last night, I felt I should share my thoughts and warn others not to get the "Dip". When we arrived to Merry Nails, we all signed in (had previously scheduled appointments), and were asked what services we wanted. I had made the appointment for shellac, and stated that I wanted that, but they really push the "Dip" (what other salons may call NexGen). After being told that the Dip would last longer than shellac, and be less harmful on my nails, I agreed to try it. That's the biggest mistake I've ever made at a nail salon. To start, I came with clean, unpolished nails. They immediately started the Dip process, instead of trimming my cuticles, buffing, ect. (I've never had a manicure where they skip that step). When the process was complete my nails felt so odd and thick - almost like having fake nails. I also felt the color was much lighter than on the sample I chose. Only a week and a half after the "dip", the top part started peeling up. It got to the point every time I washed my hair or ran my fingers through my hair, my hair would get stuck between the polish and my nail. Then, three days ago (15 days post "Dip"), two of the "dips" broke off from the top half of my nail. Thankfully, I was able to get an appointment (at home in CT) to have the Dip removed last night. My salon at home soaked, and soaked, and soaked, and really struggled to get the dip off completely - it took over 30 minutes to remove. After getting down to my nails, I saw that two were YELLOW, and 7 of my 10 nails are peeling, weak and brittle! I have never in my life had yellow or peeling nails! I was advised to not use any type of polish on my nails for the next month to get them to "heal". My typical shellac lasts 3 weeks without a chip (I've had it last 4 weeks once). This Dip lasted less than 2 weeks and my nails are now ruined. I should have trusted my gut. If you come here, just get regular polish or shellac! Also, as a suggestion, I've been to other salons that offer champagne for the bridal party, or a bridal sash and take photos and such - just a nice touch for someone getting ready for their wedding. read more

Not as good as 1 year ago!! Affordable. Mary, the owner, is a true entrepreneur spirit. The growing crowd and popularity is however becoming a problem. They added more chairs to accommodate peddi's. It's a tight squeeze Abminderung if your neighbor has the massage on you get to go along for the ride. The place has gone from sprawling new to very dirty. Dust bunnies everywhere, dirty tables, service carts and equipment. With success came the lack of attention to basic principle. This SPA is supposed to be a relaxing, clean environment. I hope the store owner refocuses, because she does deserve the success overall. I will not be back for a while. read more

Went to Merry Nails for a manicure with dip. They don't do actually manicures, but charge you for them. They don't clip extra skin off if there is any and don't shape the nails till the very end. So the chance to break the polish off is higher. When I went to pay, I was charged more than the person beside me, and we had the exact same thing done. In top of that, I realize that these places are paid under the table, but seriously, don't count your "paycheck" infront of coustomers. The best thing about this place had to be the customers that do go there. read more

I truly wanted to believe the good reviews because I've been trying new places due to the long waits in CR but I've been getting my nails done regularly (every 2-3 weeks) for about 3+ years and this is probably the least satisfied I've ever been. Pretty much the opposite shape I asked for, never let me look at the colors, picked one blindly and it ended up being an all-sparkle grey (I hate sparkles on my nails). I told the lady it wasn't what I expected and she was unfazed and walked away. Very sad with the outcome. read more

I have been a satisfied customer for a year and a half at Merry Nails. I recently moved to Florida and had a terrible experience at a nails salon there. I decided to wait y'all i got home to get my nails done again so i could come back to Merry Nails. I booked a plane ticket back for my sisters birthday and took my mom my sister and I to Merry Nails to have a girls day. I know that they are pretty busy on the weekends i am very understanding in that sense. When I pulled up a picture to show what I wanted the owner Mary proceeded to respond very rudely and say, "if you don't know what you want we don't have time we are very busy". Not only was she beyond rude but I was also tossed between three nails techs and needless to say my nails look nothing like the picture. I will not be returning to Merry Nails. read more

The people were nice but the lady that did my nails was so rushed. I understand if it's busy you want to work fast but at least do the nails right. This is the worst job I've gotten done on my nails. She filed them short and filed them twice. Don't file them the first time then? And they arnt even smooth, there are ridges that I have to go and fix myself. Worst manicure ever. Imagine I got the C team because a few people have vouched for this place but oh-my-lanta, this was abysmal. Actually went in for a gel manicure - had to abort that plan after observing their handiwork. Had to warn her several times about using the drill on my nails & after all that, tech still failed to remove all gel, broke nail (improper cutting), & left ridges in nails from using a coarse file. Guy who replaced her, although very nice, wasn't much more thorough. Nails are now catching on everything (again, same coarse file ripping up my nail tips), cuticles are ragged & hangnails all over. Asked 2nd tech if this was typical of their work. He replied no, acknowledged most everything I listed here, but did absolutely nothing to correct it. Here on business & tho I've paid a pretty penny for manicures before (5x as much, & more), at $15 this feels like the most expensive/least worth it. Gave it a try because my "usual" tech is out & I was less than thrilled with her sub. After this experience, the 20min trip to Coralville is more than worth the drive even with the substitute. If you have natural nails & like to take care of them, this is not the plac for you. Highly disappointed. read more

I was told about this place from someone I met in the area as I recently came to visit the area. I'm hoping the lackluster service could have been because it was near closing time, however, I would have rather appreciated being told to make another appointment instead of telling me it was okay to come in. I enjoyed the large amount of OPI and Essie colors and thought that was great. I requested dip nails and a pedicure. Pedicure was fast and I was rushed to pick a color for both toes and hands.The massage chair worked fine and I liked that it actually worked my muscles. It didn't seem like the friendliest atmosphere and when I would ask a question or have something redone, it seemed as if the tech was annoyed. My dip nails came out uneven and the thumbs are two different lengths. I was unimpressed seeing the amount of money I paid for both services. When I finally got to see my toes in the car, I notices a piece of my toenail going off. Maybe it was because of the time that I arrived, but as a paying customer coming here for the first time, I would have definitely appreciated them being more friendly and professional.
