I felt inclined to leave a review as I'm a bit surprised by some of the other 5 star reviews. I brought a bridesmaid dress in to be tailored in August, with a two week window to have hemming done. I notified them on the phone, prior to the appointment, the timing and service requested. There was no pricing discussed or mention of it being "cash only" and requiring a deposit. At the appointment, I was a bit early, so I heard the tail-end of a gentlemen's appointment before me. He brought in a full suit to be tailored and they told him, without hesitation, that it could be done within that week. When it came to my appointment, the tone changed. After completing the quick mark-ups on the dress to see where the hemming needed to be, they acted as though two weeks was a rush! Perhaps it is, as I'm not a tailor myself, but it was a bit surprising after hearing the appointment before me. When concluding the appointment, they told me $80 cash only ($40 more than a 5 star rated tailor in Boston mind you, but perhaps this included a "rush" cost) and expected me to have a deposit. Is my deposit not the $250 dress you're holding? I think this policy needed to be a bit more clear. Also, in general, a business does not need to hold two assets to ensure payment at the completion of service, but maybe they have reason for doing so. I picked up the dress and inspected it, and saw a few hanging threads, as it looked a tad rushed (see picture). I'm not sure if it was because of it being considered a rush order, but I was a bit disappointed for the price paid. It was good enough for the wedding, so I chose not to complain. I had purchased a Veronica Beard $800 silk dress which was floor length with a side slit...I had to purchase a size larger than I normally take due to side zipper which left the top too large. I needed the top fitted and I wanted the lined silk dress made into a midi dress because I would get more use out of it. Skip the NEX and come here. Hands down the best tailor shop on the Island! This shop is extraordinarily friendly to military members and is willing to do same day alterations or next day pickup depending on when you come in. All for $5, and it is by far the most bang for you buck. Customers may utilize the bank parking lot across the street for free, so no need to search endlessly for a parking spot. I needed a suit altered for an upcoming wedding. I spoke with someone over the phone 2 business days ago about which alterations I would need and was told they could do those fixes "anytime" and it would take no more than a day. I was met with hostility and disdain upon entering, and was laughed at when I told them the wedding was in a few weeks. They told me there is no way they could do that in 2 weeks, and would take around 4 weeks.
