I can't say enough good things about Mesa Verde Post Acute. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcomed and cared for. The nurses are truly exceptional--compassionate, attentive, and consistently going above and beyond to ensure comfort and well-being. You can tell they genuinely care about their patients, and that makes all the difference. The facility itself is clean, well-maintained, and has a warm, homey atmosphere that puts you at ease right away. It doesn't feel cold or clinical like some other places--it really feels like a second home. My mom had to be at a skilled nursing home post hospitalization. She was only at Mesa Verde for a couple of weeks but we were grateful for the wonderful care of all the nurses, CNAs, PT/OT, admin team. The facility is older and could use a good renovation indeed, but it was always clean. The staff is the true difference here. Thank you Irma and Kevin in social services for helping to organize the many outside doctors appointments and all your guidance, thank you to all the nurses and CNAs Harry, Janet, Cherelle, Mary Ann, Letetia, Dahlia; Kathy (Speech Therapy), Raina/Gil/Steve in PT/OT. Mesa Verde is a great place to recover. I had a right knee complete replacement. Their staff were remarkable and treated me very kindly and with respect. The Physical Therapist were the best. Everyone worked together as a team to provide the best help possible. They also have an activities room where there is something to all day. Also, DirecTv and WiFi. The CNA's were very attentive. I never leave yelp reviews but just had to for this center. Mesa Verde Post Acute center has been a great facility and helped our family in our time of need. My mom lived in a different county and we were having to travel hours just to go visit my mom. We wanted her close to home but could not figure out the confusing Medical Insurance system The facility my mom was in kept informing us that it would take several months to have her transferred. My sister and I were exhausted and confused. I called a close friend from OC Hospice (Soila Villegas) for help by recommending this facility. We toured many facilities in Orange County, but when we toured Mesa Verde we could tell that it was a good place. The place was clean. Staff was courteous, and Blanca knew the patients by their first name. Thanks to Blanca and Bianca they were able to not only educators on insurance, but help us with a smooth transition. We have our mom close to us now and I am glad she is at Mesa Verde. I have found staff members doing extra things like combing my mom's hair and just talking with her. The administrator, Angelo, is extremely professional. He personally went to my mom's room, provided us with his cell phone number has an open door policy where we have been able to speak with him directly. The social worker Brandon is super efficient and working at caring for my mom needs of setting up dental appointments, and coordinating other things she needs. And then,of course, there are the nurses who are great! There is a special nurse, Janet, who we appreciate immensely. This does not take away from the other nurses who are there it's just that we personally know Janet very well since she was the one to welcome us the night we brought my mother in. My mom is always mentioning how good the food is and how she enjoys the activities the center provides keep the patients engaged. My mom was referred here by HOAG upon discharge. The staff have been very accommodating, compassionate, and attentive to my mom.

I mistakenly let my husband stay there for 3 weeks. The day he left he had to be IV'd with fluids he had an infection.

Way to many people today only get bad reviews from others, well, this is a praise post. I've been at this care center now over a year. It as a whole is far better than a few others I've had been to. I absolutely love most of the staff here. As they go above and beyond the bar. One particular CNA Piola Ramirez is just that person. She always keeps a smile in her voice, and she honestly cares about the people here. From day 1 she's made me feel like I'm not just another job. She treats everyone with kindness, and dignity. If I could clone her and know that it's she that's assigned to me everyday I would. More places need people who care as much as she does. The manager Monica has been incredibly rude since the day I arrived. She constantly interrupts me when I am asking a question and has absolutely no people skills. There is no therapy given to my room mate when he has been requesting it for two weeks. I have only seen my doctor once in the three weeks I have been there. The nurses are incredibly rude and not compassionate in any way what's so ever. I was forced to call an ambulance to be seen by a doctor because my nurse told me she was changing shifts and I would have to wait. The food is horrible. The patients are mistreated. The staff is incredibly lazy. You can smell the feces in the halls constantly I have been here for three weeks and I am incredibly dissatisfied. I have gotten two infections here from the place being so dirty and am now back at the hospital to get proper treatment read more

My review of this facility below. 1. CNAs: Inconsistent, poor response times, often more than 1-2+ hours - particularly late evening and overnight. Smacks of constant, recurring staffing challenges. Has been going on for quite a number of months now. Nearly had to call 911 on 4/22 when no one initially responded to an urgent call for care. Often rude and disrespectful CNAs. One recent example? An African-American CNA openly cursed me within earshot of other patients/staff, and somehow managed to keep his job instead of having his sorry ass kicked to the curb. Disgraceful! Grade: D- 2. Roommate Situation: Have experienced more than my share of troubled roommates since being admitted here. Well documented issues, including the present one (apparent history of multiple incarcerations, his words). Alarming and worrisome. Grade: C 3. Meal Service: Very inconsistent. I've rarely been given the opportunity to communicate dietary changes to kitchen management. Food quality and preparation need significant improvement. Further, ordering from outside seems to be either hit or miss. Often, there is no one to hand off orders to; and even when there is, I've had to wait an unreasonable amount of time to receive the order resulting in cold food. Grade: D 4. Nursing/Medication Services: Wildly inconsistent. Various medication nurses deliver them. Sometimes I've failed to receive required medications at all during a shift, or I receive different ones depending upon who my medication nurse is on that shift. Some nurses display a very poor attitude, lack of professionalism and/basic empathy toward patients needing aid or assistance. One in particular is an absolute Karen, sticking her nose into every possible situation not her business and inflaming matters. Often have to wait a week to get bathed when a regular shower day is missed by a CNA. Grade: D- 5. Business/Social Services: Sluggish, inconsistent response times, particularly with regard to doctor appts. Also, very difficult to get assistance from Social Services employees when needed. Excessive delays in getting relocated to assisted living facility. Grade: C- 6. Internet: Major, known issue. Repeated complaints absent any resolution. If you happen to be housed in a part of the facility with limited or no signal, and the patient has to incur excessive data fees, then that's just the way it is. Corporate ownership steadfastly refuses to allocate the funds necessary to make these fixes. I've been told on multiple occasions that they are in no way 'obligated' to do so. Update: Wifi has noticeably improved finally in the past 2 weeks. Grade: C+ 7. Parcel Deliveries: Once again, hit or miss. More often than not, deliveries arrive and are accepted within normal business hours, but because Activities personnel often go home early, I don't receive my item(s) until the following day or thereafter. Grade C 8. Overall: Caustic, derisive, vindictive and retaliatory administrative/management reaction to legitimate grievances, often accompanied by retort and intimidation. A pervasive toxic culture of mismanagement and neglect. Just one example? Will force me to discuss roommate and other private issues with my roommate just a few feet away. Unprofessional and a clear HIPAA privacy violation. Occurs all the time in this place. As a reviewer has already mentioned, very little compassion or dignity at this place. Very deserving of it's low overall rating. Overall Grade: D+ read more

Without a skilled need Mesa Verde has refused to discharge my grandfather being billed under Medicare. Because family isn't allowed onsite the staff has been able to: not return calls, state the DCplanner/social worker/administrator all are in meetings, just hang up on phone calls. As discharge was to be the first of August we have recieved over a week of avoidance and lies, essentially holding grandpa hostage to burn his Medicare days. read more

I recently had a family member staying here and I can say that I felt extremely guilty leaving her here but at the moment I don't have any way to care for her. The staff was kind and nice. Like any place not all is perfect but overall there were angles looking out for my mom. We have been to many rehab centers in Orange County, and this facility would be our #1 pick. Mesa Verde is close to home and the facility doesn't smell like most places. The nurses are friendly. The social worker Clark, is very on top of things. Our relative is doing very well here, he is getting stronger and it shows! He shares a bedroom with one person and it is clean. The other place he stayed at in HB was a one bedroom shared with 3 people. It was okay, but having more space is better. It is so hard to trust people with your family members. The food is somewhat good and the communication is average than most. I would NOT recommend anyone to take their family member to Victoria Health Care center. We had a family member almost pass away there. They over drugged, and I had to get them out stat. Lastly, always always label personal belongings. Hearing aids get lost very easily, sweat shirts, shoes, wheel chairs, walkers, canes, pants, etc. We have come home with other people's belongings. I don't know how this happens but we always lose something during Respite. I do not advise to keep hearing aids unless you are aware of them getting misplaces, stolen, or lost! They will somehow always get misplaced and they are very expensive! Anything valuable, keep at home in a safe place. Check out this hearing device. I'm baffled how this place got 4 stars. I've heard about businesses paying Yelp to filter out certain reviews, this must be the case here because I really don't understand. My dad has been battling leukemia for the last 2 years and requires a special diet. Unfortunately they will not let me bring my own food or a small Mini fridge to put his supplementations, meals and medicine in. Not to mention, the fact that he has to share a bathroom with another Room is absolutely high risk for someone of his condition. The place has a really ad smell and the staff is sub par. The food here is awful and unfortunately you don't have a choice but to eat it. We will be transferring him as soon as possible read more

I am currently a patient here at Mesa Verde here for rahbilitation but feels more like rehaboardation , I prefer to be anonymous, as I feel any acknowledgement of who I am would result in a means of retaliation. Currently at this location in regard to activities or a means of rehab there are none available to us patients. The Director is unprofessional and extremely derogatory toward all patients including myself. I have heard her yelling at staff and/or patients from rooms down the hall. The evening staff overall is horrible. I don't know how they hire night time personnel but I do not feel comfortable nor would I recommend anyone to come at night regardless of availability. Overall the daytime crew and personnel outside the director is enjoyable and better than my last place I was sent to for PT, the directors attitude and demeanor needs to change. read more

Mesa Verde Convalescent Hospital I will give it a 5 out of 5--one of the best nursing home facilities in California. The building is well-kept, clean, and safe for the staff and residents. Teams are nice and friendly. My students learned how to take care of elderly patients with their ADLs. CNAs are the best, and the charge nurses as well. The billing department of this nursing home could do better. Most of the time, no one answers the phone when the receptionist transfers me. The voicemail asks you to leave a message, but no one calls back. It's a pain to get anyone at the billing dept. I have to call multiple times a day and sometimes it takes 2 or 3 days to finally get someone. read more

My beloved aunt recently had hip surgery at Hoag hospital, and Mesa Verde came recommended to us for her ongoing physical therapy. You always want the best for your loved ones in such a challenging time, and I can say with confidence that we are thrilled that we brought her here. From the second she arrived everybody was warm and so welcoming. We were put right at ease with the fantastic energy in the place and the clearly very competent team. My aunt got along with all the other patients (which is a bonus), but the actual therapy staff were just wonderful; so supportive and knowledgeable. If you love the person who has been put in this God forsaken, awful place, get them out fast before your loved one dies. It took them 3 days of neglect before my family member died. The staff was rude, pushy and unhelpful and almost illiterate. Very uneducated people working her and ZERO bedside manner. When my person passed away, they made us believe that it was our responsibility to have the body removed within 4 hours. When in reality, the morgue could and should have picked him up. My dear friend who was bed bound was cared for at Mesa Verde. She died a couple weeks ago, but she had been there about 5 years. She had many visitors, and I would visit her several times a week to check on her. I could see that the staff cared very much about her and all their residents. From Maria who would clean her to the nurses, Jayde, Liza, Christine and Janika who were so helpful the day our friend passed away. The Social Service director, Paloma - Marlon in maintenance, they all took pride in their level of care of the residents. Even Gabriel and Andrew in accounting were very open if you had a question or concern. They have a tremendously difficult job, but the staff I've interacted with have been very professional, caring and responsive, ready to communicate and listen if you had concerns then look for solutions Honestly, care homes are never fun places, but I appreciated that they work hard to keep their place clean without the really bad smells and they keep the residents busy with activities. We still drop in ( but not as often) to visit other friends there. We want the staff to know we notice the pride they take in their work and that it's very much appreciated read more

I was at Mesa Verde For 1month and a 1/2. The care I received was great. All the nurses are very skilled and caring the Cnas are very caring and take very good care of their patients. The Physical Therapy staff is very good with patients, and care about your recovery.They have very good equipment, for Physical Therapy. Everyone there are like a family. I have been to a few Rehabilitation Hospitals before and I feel this one was the best. read more

My father was at this facility (Mesa Verde) after being transferred from the hospital. He was there a couple of weeks and then we received a call from the social worker letting us know that we needed to transfer him as "they could not sustain his level of care" we were given a couple of days to find an alternate facility to take him to. The reason that they did not want to keep him there any longer was because he was a fall risk, which they were advised about prior to the hospital transferring him there. My sister and I scrambled to find another facility and were fortunate to be able to transfer him in that short of notice. We gave Mesa Verde ample time (over 24 hours) to get my dad's transfer papers completed. When I arrived at 11am the following day (on Friday) to take my dad to the new facility no one knew anything about his transfer paperwork and they scrambled to get information. For 2 hours I was given the run around and finally was told that they could not get a hold of the doctor to sign the release so he would have to stay a couple of extra days there. This was unacceptable, I advised the Director at Mesa Verde that we had already paid for those days at the new facility and would not be able to get a refund. I was then told by the Director and social worker Quyen that Mesa Verde would reimburse those extra days that he would not be at the new facility. After several emails and phone calls to Mesa Verde, with no response, I called again today and finally received a call back from Gabriel who informed me that they can not reimburse the extra days and he had never heard of such a thing. I advised that I was assured by both the social worker (who I had sent emails to in regards to this) and the Director that those days would be reimbursed but all he kept saying is sorry we just don't reimburse for that. Lying to me about the reimbursement is completely unethical and not a good business practice . . . I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND this facility to anyone . . . If you are looking for a great facility my dad had been at Beachside in HB and they were absolutely wonderful. We would have placed him there again but unfortunately they did not have any open beds at the time. read more

Came to Mesa Verde the other day to visit my great grandmother, to say I was nervous is an understatement. But, to my sweet surprise, I could not have been more pleased. My great grandmother looked amazing. She was so happy, and everyone seemed sooooo nice. I was truly impressed. The nurses were all so friendly and were extremely attentive. Not mention the administration team. They took so much time making everything seamless from the transition from the hospital to here. They continually followed up. My great grandmother is healing up fast, and is tentatively heading home next week. Kudos Mesa Verde. read more
