The garage door mechanism was 21 years old and it was recommended that replacement would be the best option. Mescher was able to respond within a day or two. I had a rollup garage door in a 12 x 20 metal shed. It would not operate. I had two previous companies come out. The first one told me they did not have the expertise to work on a rollup door, and the second company told me it could not be repaired and cost $4700 for a new one! Mescher Door did not fix my garage door. This is only my experience with them. I initially tried to repair my garage door myself. The issue was the spring, but in the process, I damaged the door. The damage was mostly cosmetic(two broken panes of glass and one slightly bent track). I contacted this company to come and get the spring replaced, and get me an estimate for the glass. They told me they'd have to send someone to see the door. The first technician came out and was told the whole story. He was told about the track and said it might be recommended to replace it, but was unsure. He seemed honest and quoted me about $300(verbally) for the spring only and recommended reusing some of the parts(the torsion bar and the track). Which is fair. I initially wanted to replace the whole torsion bar just to have more peace of mind. He said he wasn't sure about the cost for a new bar but the old one didn't look too bad beside some dents from the spring set screws. A few days later, a second guy got sent out to "take measurements". Since the first technician said he didnt know the price of the torsion bar and the track, he couldn't give me an accurate cost to replace them. I thought the second guy would be a more experienced technician possibly ready to just do some work or at least give good reason to reuse or replace parts. He didn't have any intentions of repairing anything or honest advice. Instead he tried talking me into buying a whole new door for $1500. Initially saying the door was old and "parts aren't made anymore". Said that the torsion bar alone would cost me $400, spring for $300, and track with a new top panel would be a whopping $700. He recommended replacing the whole top panel isntead of two broken pieces of glass. A total of $1400, so why not just buy a new door, right? Keep in mind the track that was bent was barely noticeable. It was barely misaligned. I insisted on just getting it to work again with spring and only necessary parts. I was told I'd have an estimate soon. As of this review, another company got the door working without trying to sell me a new door or charge me outrageous numbers for parts. I never even got a written estimate for the spring replacement from Mescher door. The technician from the other company noticed that the track was only misaligned because a bracket was bent. They got the job done faster, hassle free. That gentleman got it done in the first visit and gave honest advise as to what can and cant be reused. I was hoping Mescher Door would get it done right because they've been around for a long time. Unfortunately, not the case. The pictures show the door and you can understand why I don't think a new door is needed. read more

I have had them replace and service my garage doors for over thirty years and have always been more than happy with the results.

Today is October 16th. On September 13th Mescher Door said they would come out to repair my garage door opener, which would close but not open the door. They have been out 3 times since then. The first time they said they couldn't fix it and the opener had to be replaced, and they would need to come back. The second time they brought the wrong equipment and said they would need to come back. The third time they finally replaced the garage door opener. However, they left off the safety sensors that prevent the door from closing when your car or your dog is under it. So it still doesn't work right, over a month and three visits after promising to fix it. And as a minor complaint, the last time they said they would be at my house between 8am and noon. At about 2:30 I finally got a call saying they would be there by 4pm. I had already changed my whole morning to be available, and they didn't even have the courtesy to call me until hours after the time window had closed, and then they made me stay in the afternoon/evening waiting for them, too. The workers have been gone about two weeks, now, after the third visit. I haven't heard back from them. I think they believe they are done with the project and have no intention of installing the safety sensors. Three trips. Said they couldn't fix it, had to replace it. Tried twice to replace it. Never made their time window. It still isn't completely installed. And they jury-rigged the opener into place, anyway. Right now, I don't have much faith in Mescher Door, or much positive to say about the company. read more

Great company! Showed up on the day and time frame that we had scheduled. Dave was very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. Our garage door was being really temperamental (wouldn't close, kept blinking, etc) and we tried to align the sensors as best as we could. Finally after weeks of having to manually close the garage door (which is a pain when you're trying to go someplace), we contacted our home warranty company (First American, the best!) and they patched us thru to another company first. That particular company didn't exactly have the friendliest employee calling people (I'm big on customer service) and their appointments were about a week out. So we asked our warranty company to connect us with another company instead, and Mescher Door Co called us back the same day, and were very friendly! :) Dave showed up today and had a nice friendly, relaxed way about him. We ended up getting new garage sensors (which he had stocked in his truck already) and now our garage door opens and closes smoothly. I highly recommend Dave and Mescher Door Co! read more

My garage door spring snapped. After briefly looking into fixing it DIY and discovering the dangers in doing so, I found Mescher Door Company on Yelp. I called them and was told they would try to send someone that day. The price they quoted seemed fair. About 2 hours later a nice man came and fixed it. He even repaired the side of the garage door that was dented from when I started backing up before it was completely open. There was no extra charge for this. I recommended your company because the company that I work for does a lot of business with Mescher door. Sean came out to give an estimate and was polite. Looked at the damage and we agreed on replacing two panels. But asked if he could give us estimates for two and four panels. I asked if they do the painting, he said no but they have a person that does. I said have him get in touch with me. He then sent the estimate out 3days later. It was for 575.00. I called and ask if that was for 2 or 4 panels. He said two and after we talked we agreed to that estimate. We set a time and date for the install. We initially paid with my Honeys card but two days later they contacted me to say that they must have wrote the number wrong so I provided my card. On the date of install the time came and went and no word from the person doing the work or the company. Nobody called to let us know that they were not going to show. It was a Friday and the appointment was 2-5. So at 5 when they did not show up we called to find out what had happened they were closed. Very frustrating!! We had to wait until Monday. They told us on monday that there was no appointment scheduled but we had gotten conformation texts about the upcoming appointment. Very frustrating!!! So we scheduled another appointment. We made sure to let them know that I was working and would be available after 2. We set the appointment up for 230 -5 again. On the day of the appointment the person showed up at 130. No call just showed up and sat in front of the house for at least 30mins before my girlfriend's son came outside to play basketball and noticed him sitting in his truck. He replaced 1 panel and left. My girlfriend called me and said that he was there installing the panels. When I showed up at 2 he was long gone without saying a word. When I called the company sean said that he didn't remember us talking about the price and panel quantity. He said sorry for the misunderstanding and offered a free install on another panel. after all the complaining they tried to give us a bill for the remaining balance. This is absolutely the worst customer service. The no call service men and a misrepresentative salesman. I surprised they get any repeat business. I cant say this enough do not go with this company. First of all, let me start off with saying that if I can give this company a ZERO rating then I would because that's the kind of customer service they deliver. Do not waste your time on a so called company that doesn't give you the correct and accurate estimate, a company that lies to you, doesn't show up to the job the day they were scheduled and no phone call to the customer. Some guy named Shawn does the estimates. Then I rescheduled the job and Chris the contractor shows up 2 hours before the scheduled time, he doesn't deliver or replace the correct order, and doesn't offer to come back to my house and make anything right. There are other garage door companies in Yuba like The Garage Door that has great customer service and they put their customers first. I should have known to have gone with a different company when I saw this companies poor reviews. I hope this review puts them out of business because no business should be ran like this. It reminds me of slummy landlords. The ladies who work for customer service are worse than the others I mentioned in this review. What kind of scheduler just doesn't schedule at all? When I called they said the contractor didn't have an appointment?Uh so No contractor shows up to my house because of her negligence to do her job and she has no idea how to go about fixing any of this? I would give them a big zero, but they were pleasant, even though they were not helpful in any way at all. We have a very simple Sears 1/2 HP garage door opener that had the gears go out on it. Our home warrantee company sent out a fella from the Mescher Door Company. It was a Monday morning. The first thing the fella did after entering our garage, was tell me that he needed a check for $65, and that he wasn't even going to get the tools off his truck until her received it? Wha...? We have had a dozen things fixed by contractors our insurance company has sent over in the last 10 years, none of them have ever said or done anything like that. We later found out that 'he' was not supposed to either. He was lazy lazy lazy from the start, this man that Mescher sent over... That opener weighs a whole like 5-8 lbs maybe... It was mounted to the ceiling and was just over the edge of a pool table that had a ping pong table on top of it. Long story short - this wuss said he could not do the job unless we moved our pool table. I told him he could just take it down, replace the gears and put it right back up. i told him he could even stand on the ping pong table top... The wuss just couldn't handle that, so I sent him on his way, he did not pass GO and he did not collect his $65 check... We called First American, our warantee company, and they apologized and put us in contact with the place anyone reading this should contact - **National Garage Door Company**. Lucky for me the National Garage Door Company has a fella named *Dan* that is a former Maryland'er with a real 'easy going, nothings a problem, East Coast' mentality. Dan took one look at the situation, went out to the truck to get his ladder, tools and parts he needed. Popped up the ladder, took the cover off the unit, pulled and replaced the gears - and was done in less than 20 minutes with a perfectly working, finely tuned, adjusted and oiled garage door opener -and- door. Dan is the man, the National Garage Door Company kicks ass, and they really put poor old Mescher Door Company to shame. Just telling it like it is. I don't bother calling anyone else. Mescher's has the parts and the people. Yesterday I called about a broken spring and was asked if my car was "trapped" in the garage. It was. Told it would be awhile before someone got here, I expected no one until afternoon. In an hour, two guys arrived to open my garage door and let me get my car out. They said might be next day before someone could fix the door but within another two hours Gary Evans showed up and quickly installed a new spring (twenty minutes tops). All the guys were nice and professional. Gary came early because he saw the dispatch and finished another job early so worked me in! Extraordinary!
