Waste of money. Lost paperwork charged me 9 grand and didn't even fight for me to win . She's lazy and her office smells.

If you want to be having very short period of time to find attorney to represent you for the right of your kids. So hire him. He went to the juvenile court with me twice. First time the judge said the paperwork was filed wrong. Second time he came late we were in December and when he came late the judge was done so he continued to first week of. This office had me in thier calender since then. The surprise is that his assistant called me before the court by five days telling me that he will not come to the court to represent me because he has to go to chesapeake. The court does not want to continue cause it is the third time. He is putting me in very bad situation after he had is the one who continued till may. So from December till May he could not tell me earlier that he does not want to go to the court. First, no responsibility to handle people matters. Second, he put the claint in bad position because who will be able to find another attorney in a few days. Third, being told to go represent myself in the court alone is not appropriate. If you want to go through this so this will be a right choice for you

On multiple occasions, I requested that my spouse be contacted. I was told this would happen, but to my knowledge, it never did. I was also asked to spend significant time preparing financial documents, narratives, and other case information. Later, while preparing my settlement, I was repeatedly asked for the same information by phone and text. I was told it was "cheaper for you to just answer my questions," which made the time I invested gathering those materials feel unnecessary. Despite investing nearly $10,000 in legal fees, I did not feel my case made meaningful progress toward mediation or divorce. My biggest concern was the lack of communication. Even after requesting it by phone and in writing, I was never provided a clear timeline, an explanation of the process, or realistic expectations for next steps. Navigating separation after experiencing a physical attack by my spouse was already extremely difficult. During that time, I needed proactive communication, guidance, and confidence that my case was moving forward. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I left feeling disappointed by the lack of follow-through, transparency, and overall case management.

THIS is what a law firm should be -- people over billable hours. Thank you, Melone Hatley, for being there when I needed you.

They lure you in with a flat fee, then double the price mid-case, knowing changing attorneys can hurt your case in court. They ignore explicit instructions and still bill you for what you told them not to do. Never made it to court and the case was rescheduled because of his unavailability to appear. Yet the bill was $4500. Still waiting for a refund that was promised by his staff. Its been months with no avail. Do not use this attorney unless you want to toss you money into a furnace. Responses to your "Update" The issue remains unresolved. The communication issues have been ongoing, not recent. Furthermore, this does not negate the fact that your client provided specific instructions that were disregarded, resulting in charges for services they explicitly declined. This appears to stem from your staff failing to read or respond to emails in a timely manner. Additionally, the case was unnecessarily prolonged for several months due to your unavailability. Incorrect dates and other inaccuracies were submitted, despite accurate information being provided by the guardian ad litem. Your client was forced to follow up and personally correct these errors. To add to the concern, your recent response merely stated that the refund process will take another month, offering no real resolution or accountability.
