I have to be honest that I don't always follow her advice because if I did I would weigh a normal amount and be able to run a 10 K but I am now working out consistently. It doesn't help that I always work out when it's dark outside, so just walking in is alarming every time. However, the staff is friendly, the gym is quite clean, locker rooms/restrooms/showers/etc. all clean and well maintained. The equipment is also well maintained. This is the first PF I have ever been to (and trust me, I've been to A TON) that has a compact/upright leg press, but also not one, not two, but THREE squat racks/deadlift platforms. Now, the weights don't go up too crazily - it's not a CRUNCH or commercial gym, but this was awesome to see. They also have tons of cardio equipment (of course), but lots of newer versions of some equipment along with the classic versions.

Basically, any charge that is scheduled within the next 30 days is still charged to you after you request to cancel. This means that for me I will be charged 20 days after I requested to cancel. 20 days seems like plenty of time to process a cancellation, but nonetheless they still will charge my card.

The gym is spacious and staff are friendly and it does not lack in any equipment. The only reason I cannot give this gym a 5 star rating is due to their inflexibility with personal training packages. I'm not certain where the decision making originates but if you choose to op for personal training, you are required to commit to one year of payments, period. These can be paid bi weekly or up front but it is very costly and I think it would be well received if there were short term options available. I personally trained with Bree, who is exceptional, and would have preferred to continue with her in order to fulfill my fitness goals; however, as stated, due to lack of short term packages and no reduction in cost for repeat clients, I was unable to financially absorb the cost of another annual commitment.

After recently relocating I realize how much I took for granted by having this gym within driving distance and how much I miss it. First off, the gym is gigantic. Having other people there is almost never a problem with how many options you'll have to choose from for whatever muscle group or exercises you intend on doing. The amount of benches/squat racks they had made sure you'll never miss a bench day because you'll never have to wait. Additionally, it is ALWAYS clean, I have never walked in this gym and not seen wipes, germ x, soap to wipe down equipment. This gym is incredibly well kept and its obvious the crew take pride in their house. As stated above the number of machines is plenty to meet whatever someone is interested in doing from cardio to bodybuilding. On top of that it is all well-kept and new and if something isn't right they aren't afraid to upgrade or add something to the gym to make sure members are happy. I've always felt like I was getting the most out of my membership with this gym. I will close my statement by saying that everything above is what is expected of a gym when someone applies, however there is one unexpected anomaly. That unexpected anomaly is their manager David. He turns that gym from being just a gym to a community and going to the gym was always something that was looked forward too. Countless times would I go into the gym at 9 pm and he would still be at work to meet with someone who is interested in a membership or helping some guys out with their form or something. Having a manger who is comfortable with going around and setting the vibe and talking with members while they workout every now and then is where anytime lucked out with their manager. My credibility extends from athletics in high school to serving in army special operations, working out is nothing new to me but since starting here every gym I go to has felt empty because they don't have a David there.

On August 25, 2025, I signed a 1-month membership contract with Pensacola Athletic Center (HS #14997) and paid $107.49 by credit card. The signed contract includes the cancellation rights under Florida Statute § 501.017 (the Health Studio Act). On August 27, 2025, within the 3 business day cancellation period, I delivered a written cancellation notice (which I sent via email and certified mail). Despite this, the gym failed to acknowledge or act on my cancellation. They did not confirm cancellation, did not refund or void charges, and subsequently adjusted my account to show a "past due" balance of $157--an amount higher than the original contract price. This is now somehow a past due balance of $166.50 and the only communication I get is that they are going to send this to collections. The gym has never provided a legitimate explanation, has not responded to my certified correspondence, and continues to assert I owe fees. This conduct violates Florida's Health Studio Act, including the statutory requirement to refund amounts when cancellation is timely. I have since requested that FDACS investigate this matter, require the gym to confirm cancellation in writing, correct its records, and refund any improper charges. Avoid at all costs, there is also no way to delete your information from the app (and the app is absolutely worthless).

It takes time to make friends in new places and I knew the first few months would be hard. But, I quickly found friendly faces at Pensacola Athletic Center. The staff remembered my name after my first visit, always make a point to say hello/goodbye and make conversation in passing. Little did they know, this carried me through some of my more lonely months. In addition to staff, I quickly made friends with a lot of fellow athletes and gym goers & after a month of attending regularly, being consistent was never easier. I looked forward to hard workouts and pushing myself as that is the culture here. I've never quite felt like I had a gym home like this one. We're moving again in a couple of months and this has become the hardest place to say goodbye to. I even broke my elbow a few months ago and I continued to show up on all of my regular days just to do what I could. I knew I could rely on my peers to help me load weight onto machines, and I was right, people were quick to offer a hand. Oh - and the gym is really nice. There are 4 racks accompanied with deadlift platforms that are rarely all full, when they are, the wait is never too long. They've renovated it since I've joined and hosted plenty of events. They've slowly rolled new equipment in to replace old equipment. & the gym is never completely packed. There are times it's busier, but never unbearable.
