At the time of contract signing, they tell you that there's only certain requirements that allow you out of your contract (military orders, address change over 25 miles from any anytime fitness or medical leave). So instead of being able to pay a buy out fee I'm stuck with a $1300 buy out like it's just "my problem" the old owners were far more reasonable and willing to work with your situation but not these guys once they got your signature that's it. Upon entry and stretching before my routine, I was scolded and stared at by a woman who then approached me a about the gym policy and proclaimed herself as the general manager. When I asked for her name to confirm that she was in fact the manager, she made inappropriate sexual comments towards me and brushed me off, telling me that it was none of my business. Furthermore, when she asserted it was my responsibility as a member to know the policy I took it upon myself to read it to make sure I was not within violation. As it stood, I was not breaking any policies and it was simply discrimination against me for reasons that are unknown. I still have no formal confirmation that this person is the general manager, however, they attempted to go to the computer and file some type of documentation against my membership. No consideration, no kindness, no respect was delivered in my direction. It is clearly stated all over the walls, as well as the policy handbook that it is a judgment free zone, and that harassment of any form will not be tolerated. However, my rights as a member have been violated and I will not be back to this location. Do yourself a favor and just go over to Davis Highway or even the location off of Mobile Highway. The manager Audrey Maticka should be removed, or at least retrained in professionalism, code of conduct, and common human respect. I think by far what made me most uncomfortable was her comments about my sexual desire for her after asking for her name, might I add; right in front of my significant other. The whole experience was very discomforting for both of us and I can only hope that planet fitness will take action in order to improve the hostile environment that was created tonight.

The only reason I cancelled is because you have to pay every time to have a yoga mat of theirs to do any workouts without machines. So annoying. You can't bring your own mat either. There is no "beginner", "intermediate", or "hard" levels. It's the same thing every time. It's always very empty and scary at night with all the TV's going at once. I tried to do other things that didn't require a yoga mat but the seats for all of the machines are so uncomfortable I couldn't even stand a 15 minute session. If this gym is for you, it's great. The idea of working out in a sauna is awesome. But, I guess it was timing. They just opened, had no water available, still working on some things & ultimately it just isn't for me.

I LOVED IT. The owners, Fallon and Lex are the nicest and most awesome business owners {AND coaches} that I think any athlete could ever ask for. The gym is kept very clean (I have visited many boxes, and know that cleanliness can definitely be an issue), but not here. Also, the coaches go above and beyond to make sure that you feel at home - there's never really that awkward moment when people don't know who others are, so its intimidating. CFVU makes sure to make everyone feel welcome, no matter their level of fitness or familiarity with CrossFit. They also make sure that they check up on you if they haven't seen you in a while - they personally take time out of their day(s) to follow up with you and make sure everything is okay. You can't beat that. They also offer a sweet Yelp deal for checking in, and they offer military and first responder discounted monthly rates as well! The only CON I have about this box is the open gym times - since they are very closely knit with the owners and coaches, they cannot run open gym as often as I'm sure they would like (as well as you as a potential athlete here, would like). However, that is something I came to live with here, and I'm sure if they decide to add more staff and coaches later on, that the open gym times may increase. I filled out the cancellation form after my last class in July and was continually charged for the next few months. When I tried to contact them I got no response. Eventually I filled a fraudulent charge claim with my bank, was refunded and received an email confirming my cancellation. Even then they continued to charge me and messaged me saying they would send a report to a collections agency if I didn't pay. It's November now and I'm still dealing with this. Would not recommend.
