This bar is a great place to conduct business or to have a casual drink with a buddy. The atmosphere is professional, but relaxing. Metro is a location that allows you to enjoy yourself in any mood. Whether you want a coffee drink or an alcoholic drink, it is your choice and zero pressure. The seating is key at this location: plenty of bar space, plenty of high tops, tables with plenty of chairs, or window bar seats. Bring your laptop to study - free wifi and plugs to for charging. Two TVs at the bar, make it a good place to watch ESPN Sports. This is a location that you can rely on to have live music when the sun goes down. Mostly acoustic duos that you'd expect at a coffee shop, but expect it to be fun! Bartenders are always nice and are not shy with their cocktails, which is nice! I love this bar!!! I spent much of my 20's (if not all) at Metro. Even now, though not as often, I still love going here. They've really spruced up the place by adding new seating, lights, etc. It honestly looks amazing. I know the owners and they are truly good people! They take care of their customers and so do their bartenders. They have live music on most nights, and during the day make some of the best coffee! I used to freelance and would work from Metro during the week - coffee in the morning, and a beer or whiskey in the afternoon. It made work life quite amazing! Been here a few times over the years, and usually have a great time. Bartenders are easy going and helpful. Today however, when my girlfriend ordered a latte macchiato, the employee rolled her eyes, sighed, and replied 'not to be rude, but we don't do Starbucks drinks,' and referred us to the list of local coffee drinks. How can a coffee place make only drinks they decide to name and not understand how a macchiato works? Make latte's? Then you can make a macchiato. It's not a Starbucks term...it's a coffee term. Her demeanor and immediate annoyance for our order was immediately off putting and we cashed out and left...as someone ordered a buttery nipple next to us. Guess you can't use terms every other coffee shop uses, but you can use Coyote Ugly drink terms and be just fine. For reference: The macchiato (mah-key-AH-toe) is a cornerstone of Italian coffee culture, along with the espresso and cappuccino, among other coffee drinks. It's basically an espresso (served in a demitasse cup) with a small amount of foamed milk on top -- the name macchiato means "marked." Love this place but no doggies because they have pastries. Have you ever seen a pub selling pastries - never in my life. If they want to sell food need good gastronomic stuff like burgers, fish and chips. Beer still good but everything else drastically downhill. Pastries ! This place has so much potential to be a "go-to" local bar. But the way they are set up now leaves the potential unused. I enjoyed my drink, southern Baptist. But they need more wait staff. Bartenders get overwhelmed when everyone has to order at the bar. It's a moderate size place which need takeaway 2/3 servers on the floor. They need menus posted on the wall or easily available so folks don't have to struggle to get one at the bar. It feels as if they don't know which clientele they want to go for. If they want younger college crowd, it will be different bar than if they are shooting for working and family crowd. The feeling is very cold. It so sad sad that we still have that kind of bartender. I want so bad to give no star to this place and i think there great people who work there and do they job right. For that i ll not be so negative but our bartender tonight which is a male was unhinged, angry and crazy all over the place. He made a fool of himself in front of patrons for throwing out our drink in the floor because he had an argument with my wife about ID And he even had the nerve to tell us to live the bar for no reason. I think because he feels like it very poor service I will never go back to this place.There are great bars and restaurants place around downtown which give good service and respect their visitors. read more

My husband and I came here with my friend who LOVES small-business coffee shops. We actually ate at a nearby restaurant and couldn't help but notice the sign. The inside is very nice, cozy, and hipster. The coffee options were endless and amazing. Will definitely be back. read more

Visited this place on a business trip. Great location and atmosphere. Nice decor and decent seating inside. They have a good beer selection and staff was very courteous and friendly. Outside seating needs more chairs as it seems some were missing. They had live music which was talented and they had multiple artists. It's considered adventurous these days to head into a restaurant and eat without checking their yelp reviews. I did with Metro and was not disappointed! I was, however, suprised to find out they had only a measly 7 or 8 reviews--because this place is great! Smiles abounded. I walked in with my huge backpack (I was waitibg for the bus station to open)and a couple of girls were having friendly conversation. They quickly greeted myself and the couple who came in behind me and had us all sat in no time. Their air condicioning was nice, refreshing but not frigid, but I decided to sit outside in the shade anyhow. The decor inside is simple. Lots of stained wood slabs and palets. The high cielings are painted. The bathroom is simple and clean. Tara was my server and she was knowledgeable and helpful and looked into stuff she wasn't sure about for me. Even though I was her only table outside I never felt like she was far away. Her timing was perfect for checking in on drinks and food. And she made sure there was room for me and my things at the bar when I decided to go in for a beer to check the place out a bit more. The bartender was nice, too. I didn't catch her name. The veggie patty is great! You would think they make it in house, it's gotta be made close by. It's so fresh and pleasantly moist. It had rice, black beans, red pepper and perhaps corn, as far as I could see. The fresh jalapeño on the Cali burger is spicy! But don't skip it! Just get some more of the citrus aioli or a little ranch dressing. I saw all kinds in there lunching and enjoying themselves. I would say it's for every one, maybe not SO kid friendly, but certainly great for a lunch meet up or a long wait for your bus! Definitely recommend. read more

Who doesn't like to reek of smoke on a Monday night. But this place is super cheap and the bartender who worked the night I went was an alright guy. He even let us borrow an iPhone charger. Hint, they have electrical outlets under the bar for convenient charging. ...and finally, most important of all... they had pickle juice. Picklebacks for the win. read more

A must-see on Broad Street. This is one of the few places that seems to be open until 2:00 on a weekend night. I can't speak to the quality of their coffee. As a bar, great spot to get a beer (Red Hare always seems to have a presence here) and maybe listen to some live music. They definitely have eccentric regulars. I brought my parents here for a midafternoon beer and a rabbit hopped onto the booth next to me. Her owner seemed surprised that I didn't recognize it ("you must not be a regular"). It seems strange to think of the loud, crowded Metro I know would also be a quiet coffee house in the mornings, but apparently it is. read more

Metro A Coffee House is the type of place where you will find a few working class guys enjoying a noon beer along side hipsters sipping espresso. If you're into the downtown scene, this is a must stop shop. The crowd is always unpredictably hit and miss. It's either really slow or completely jam-packed. Their seating accommodations are pretty limited, especially on a crowded night. The worst part is a few of their booths are so worn out, they've actually duct taped them back together. Pretty poor. I do like the fact that you can get coffee/espresso drinks in place of alcohol. From my experience, the staff is standard for Augusta bars, somewhat impolite and snooty. Free WiFi; finally. Friendly, good-looking staff, except for Travis, j/k. Good coffee and strong selection of brew. Reasonably quiet during the day and picks up in the afternoon. It's usually crowded on the weekends with MCG students. You can smoke inside except on Saturday from 2:30 to 5:00pm when a local bluegrass band takes over. Update! I got tired of the intermittent Belkin and got a Buffalo Wireless and installed dd-wrt on it. Now it's paradise. read more

This past Sunday i turned 21, so my husband took my out to downtown Augusta to start celebrating at midnight. i started my night at another bar, was there til almost 1am, and then followed my new friends to Metro. We ordered a couple birthday shots (tequila) and weren't charged (i assume because it was our birthdays). Afterwards, we each got a couple drinks and enjoyed the rest of the night until the bar closed. The drinks were strong and yummy. The live band was super loud, i was screaming an inch away from people's ears just to be heard. i was glad when they left and i could actually have a conversation with the person a foot away from me. Once the music died down, i enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. Everyone i met seemed pretty friendly. The bartender was sweet for giving us our birthday shots for free. The line for the bathroom was only ever a couple people long at a time. The bathrooms weren't bad at all (i was expecting much worse and was pleasantly surprised). Overall i enjoyed myself and would definitely come again. read more

I used to always walk by this place and I really didn't think they served coffee despite the name. I've lived in the area for years and never heard anyone mention that they purchased coffee here. Well, I shared that with my friend Drew and he encouraged me to try it out. And just like the name said coffee was available. I can't remember what he ordered, but I had a chai tea latte and it was good. This was a daytime trip, so the place was calm and had a few customers. It seems to be much busier at night. They have a bar, pool table, booths and I think they LIVE music some nights. I may try it again soon. read more

So after just moving here for the summer I was looking for a great place to hook up some wifi and have a beer. This is the SPOT! Free internet, incredibly cheap beer, 1.50 high lifes during happy hour! This is a super chill spot to hang out for a while. Its got a great crowd, good music overhead, and of course my favorite thing cheap beer. It also has pool, couches, and good booths to surf in. Im already back here for the second night in a row and ive only been here three days. They also have coffee drinks which I know I will sample eventually and food. Me and a friend(shes trans mtf) were outside talking and i was smoking. These 2 men came out and were creepy and handsy to my friend and i , so i told them off and they got mad. So we went inside and i told the bouncer(i am 5'2 petite he was about 6 ft and big) incase they came back well the bouncer touched up my arm saying it should be okay since its a compliment and i was like dude i just complained about someone doing that to my friend, thats not okay. And he also kept PURPOSLY misgendering my friend , i politely corrected him twice then he started aggressivly cussing at me in my face saying "nah if its a man ill call him a f*ing man", then kept raising his voice and i snapped and i did cuss and then he looked at me all intimidatingly going aight you f*ing know what and stood up close to me and i got scared and walked away he was aggressivly walking behind me i didnt know what he was gonna do. He went to go complain to the bartender. I stayed my distance and waited. When he was done i told the bartender my side and the bartender essentially pulled the "oh he is just old school dont be so offended", "we totally support lgbtq and pride so its not a problem" & that i was "trying to take the bouncers 1st admendment right". And that " i shouldnt be so worked up over him touching me" and " well maybe he touched you because he felt cornered" which made no sense when i explained it all to him. He essentially dismissed everything i said,over talked me, and made the bouncer the victim. So be warned dont ever complain at this place, and they dont support lgbt read more
