My all-time favorite bar! I tell everyone that I come across about the bar, you would think I work or own it. Every gathering me and friends have downtown either START at 2nd City or END at 2nd City. The bar is the best kept secret in the CSRA. (All alcohol is made in house) There's ample seating (I normally opt for the sofas), it's never too loud, the drinks are some of the best you'd get, the bartenders are top notch, and sometimes there's a beautiful friendly dog there. Every month they have a new batch of cocktails that you can try, but I'm not much of a fruity girl. The menu has a wide selection to choose from at a great price. Majority of the time, I have a salted caramel old fashion that comes with a piece of chocolate, it's smooth and delicious! This is a hidden gem by the Riverwalk and a great place to hang out and enjoy some amazing drinks! I've heard of this place for years and happened to be downtown so I had to finally check it out. What's cool is that all the liquor I from their distillery so the bartender can tell you all about it, a different experience than going to your everyday bar. **Just FYI they only have liquor and no beer, which was fine for us since that's all we were planning to have but if coming with beer folks be advised. ** Tons of seating for various group sizes, plus the couches made it feel like I was hanging out a a buddy's house. Also was nice that they played good music and not at an obnoxious level like most bards where you can't hold a conversation. The bartender was great, gave us info about the distillery and made one of the best old fashioned I have ever had. I will say that had I not know of this place I would have never come across it since it's off the Main Street, so I am thankful for word of mouth. She found another dog friendly place downtown where drinking is the name of the game! 2nd City Distilling Co. has a really warm and inviting space with plenty of seating and great craft liquors, cocktails, and their super fun Durty Girl brand! Vodka, gin, rum, and bourbon are the stars and their cocktail list is updated frequently. Canned cocktails are available too! We enjoyed talking to the bartenders, Jason and Jasmine, both super knowledgeable about the products and just fun to chat with. I have visited a lot of distilleries over the years, and 2nd City definitely stands out. Friendly staff and a distinguishable variety of beverages to try. I can't remember the name of the one drink I like, but it tasted like orange cream soda. The location is in historic downtown Augusta right on the river. Stopped by to try the holiday drinks they are offering for the month of December. I was happy when we were able to put them in a flight and try them all. My husband loved the creamy drinks while I preferred the others so it was a great option for both of us. I also tried the trust the bar tender and she made a drink based off of me answering a few questions and it was delicious, a little sweet but really good! This could be a great happy hour spot with a few friends or co workers after work especially sampling the monthly offerings in a flight. The bar tender made our daughter a mocktail of strawberry and lime flavors. She's only 17, so she really enjoyed getting to hang out with us and have a flavorful drink of her own. I love that they have the bar decorated for Christmas, it really continues with the holiday spirit! read more

I needed a drink on a hump day. The business hours via Facebook said they were open at 11 am. I ended up here at 2:00 pm sharp I knew exactly what I wanted the caramel bourbon advertised via Facebook. I'm not big on milk or cream drinks but I figured the caramel kind had to be a milky kind from the look. The bartender was nice. The two young ladies provided lots of suggestions for the guys on the side of us. I asked about two I over heard them talking of the black berry whiskey and caramel whiskey. I had about three shots total. Each time the girl poured a different amount. About half way full. I just ended up buying two bottles one caramel bourbon and caramel whiskey . Overall I would return and maybe try a flight. The price was very affordable. The caramel liquor was a hit for my morning coffee and holiday events. read more

What started out good (having a distillery downtown) has only gotten better. Whether it's an update on their gin or a partnership with a local coffee shop, you can trust whatever they put in a bottle will be pleasing to the palette. They continue to attract local and regional musicians as well as offer onsite yoga classes and clay throwing (for pottery). Boozy slushies, cocktails, and of course all their spirits are available from the bar. You can do a flight, but whatever you do don't leave empty handed. A personal favorite of mine is the Rabbit Spit moonshine (116 proof!). And of course it's located right by the river front so grab some fresh air down by the river or atop the levee. read more

This is a great small batch brewery. The staff is friendly and the tour adds just the right amount of information. It's a good one for distillery newbies and officianados. They have some tasty cocktails (gin sting and the Ubora Russian) and their traditional whiskey is absolutely yummy. The "House flight" is only $10. All the samples were excellent. The gin is heavy on juniper. The vodka light, perfect for mixers. The rum, not too sweet. The bourbon powerful. If I could get the rum in my home state, I'd switch from gin. I'd probably have a bottle of each at home for different moods. Something I don't do now. We were in the covered patio. Nice ambiance. My buddy and I checked this place out today. I LOVE the location they chose, being right in downtown Augusta (next door to the Farmer's Market). Flights (4 shots of their product) are $10, and a cocktail is $6-$7. Overall experience was great! Their bourbon is the top seller right now, but I loved their whiskey. I love the atmosphere they give off: friendly, chill, and just able to walk around and check out their process. Music is always good and they seem to be down with music at all times! This place just opened last week, but they are already making strides to connect locals with their establishment. Wife and I walked by this place on a Sunday afternoon and Google/Yelp said they were currently closed but we saw some people seated at the patio next to the building so decided to check it out. Also note they had a sign outside that said masks were required, which we obliged. There were only a few people inside - an unmasked bartender who appeared rather preoccupied and two people sitting at tables but with no drinks or food. Wasn't clear if they were accepting customers or setting up for something, and we saw no sign indicating whether to seat ourselves or wait for a host. We waited a bit to see if we'd be greeted but none came. So we asked the bartender if they were open and I couldn't hear his reply (I thought he was talking to himself or someone closer to him as he never made eye contact with us nor acknowledged our presence) but wife said he mumbled something along the lines of "it clearly says we're open in big red letters outside." We waited a few seconds more but suffice to say we felt rather unwelcome and a even a bit distraught over how we had ostensibly inconvenienced and agitated, nay, offended, this poor bartender with our brazen and wildly inappropriate question. After contemplating how out of line we were we took our leave and continued down the street to find an establishment more enthusiastic to accept our patronage. read more

Really enjoyed our visit to 2nd City on Friday, January 24th. There was live music playing and not too crowded when we got there around 730. Plenty of seating and standing room available for large grouups. It did pick up the closer we got to nine. We had a flight and two specialty cocktails. I had the apple cider with the caramel whiskey (i think it was caramel) either way so tasty. I like that you can have your choice of liquor in some of their cocktails. Bar staff was super nice and great about offering suggestions. I was a big fan of the board/card games that they have out for your entertainment. Drinks and flights are very reasonably priced! They do not serve food but you can bring your own! All in all a great visit. Perfect place to bring your favorite bites and enjoy qt and drinks with loved ones or meet new friends. read more
