Only one driver drove like a nascar driver going over 80 in a 70 mph zone. His weaving in and out actually made me sick before I boarded my flight. I've used this service since the 2000's when I traveled for work and vacations. Always prompt, in fact usually early and never late picking me up. Calls were directed to their "call Center" that apparently is offshore - and their Customer Rep was barely understandable and had no clue about the reservation that was made 12 hours in advance of arrival. My husband and I use Metro Cars a lot when we have an extended trip -- it's less expensive than parking at the airport. The cars are always clean and spacious, and the drivers are always excellent. I would like to give a special shoutout to our 1am driver Akram Farea. I don't know how anybody can be cheerful and alert at that hour of the morning, but he was. We were able to get started on our way to airport 15 minutes earlier than planned. Helped take luggage from house to car, did not expect us to move it all. Because tip was already included in the fair price, he wasn't standing around expecting anything. Will definitely use Metro Car again. Had an airport pickup at home, their technology is useless. It pushes a text telling you who your driver is/contact info and then the car on the map to track progress. I proceeded to watch the little car not move for 20 minutes, and of course now I will be late. Call the driver, he picks up and it's clear he's been sleeping and get this, says he no longer works for MetroCar! What?? He doesn't understand how his information is still being used! Speak to the dispatcher, she says the text info is wrong and someone else is on the way but is running late. So I tell her to cancel, and even though it was early I could catch a ride on Uber. Happy that Uber was available and on the way to the airport I get a call from the canceled driver when he arrives at my house. You can't even write this stuff. This was the worse experience. The driver could not run our good credit card, nor could could their office. He sat in our driveway. and wouldn't leave. Metro cab's own credit card reader did not work. The driver bullied a 70 year old women over their own poor equipment. They also charged $100 for a 20 mile ride. Suggest you take a hotel shuttle to a hotel and call Uber as Uber doesn't pick up a the airport. The airport says Uber can, but nobody knows where. My wife wondered around with two suitcases to find the different directions to an unmarked Uber stand, and never found such a place. read more

This was my choice for transportation to the hotel from the airport. It was a good choice. It was a bit more relaxing than an Uber or Lyft. The driver met me at baggage claim and carried my luggage me, and put it in the car. They driver was at the airport before my arrival. Once I got in the car, I could relax with a complimentary bottle of water and charger for IPhones. The driver was pleasant and drove well. The tip is included in the bill, which is convenient. I have used this service for years. I understand that mistakes happen, but how we recover from them shows the true colors of a business. I reserved a metro car sedan to pick me up from the airport as I was boarding my flight home. It was short notice so I called the office. The gentleman saw that I was delayed and said they would be tracking my flight and see me when I arrived. The car did not show up because the man on the phone entered the incorrect date into his computer. So, when I arrived just after midnight and looked for my sedan it was not there. After calling the office I was passed around a few times being told I did not have a reservation. Finally they took the time to look up my name and saw it was scheduled for the wrong date. They said a driver would be there in five minutes. It was now 2 AM. Shortly after I got a call from the driver saying he was 20 mins away still. I thought this must be a mistake and called the office back. They informed me it was not a mistake. They told me I should take a "metro cab" and they would "refund me the difference." First, if I wanted to ride in a cab I would have booked one. Second, there was no accountability for leaving a long time client stranded in the airport in the middle of the night for over an hour. Third, to be offered a refund of the difference is not close to making up for their mistake. Shame on you Metro Cars for putting clients in dangerous situations in one of the most dangerous cities in the state. read more

I booked a ride from DTW to my home days in advance. When we arrived at the airport there was no driver, there was a "Metro Cab" driver who laughed at Metro cars service and told us they don't have drivers. I called the 1-800 number to be told they don't have a driver, I then asked why I didn't receive a phone call, text or an email & that seemed like a new concept to them. I was told I would have a driver there in 5 minutes. 20 minutes later I called back and they said they did not have a driver and they could send a metro cab, which they did. I asked for a manager and they said the supervisor Jerry would be in at 9 and call me. I called back at 12:30 and he was in a meeting, hopefully learning about customer service skills as he has none! He finally called me at 2:00 with an attitude. I asked how come I didn't receive a courtesy call and he said " they can't predict the future" no doubt I get that but at the time of my reservation they knew they didn't have a driver! why did they not they call then? 40 minutes AFTER my reservation time when I called they lied and said the driver would be there in 5 minutes and THEY STILL DIDNT HAVE A DRIVER. Well at the end Jerry never offered an apology but they did take my money and added a tip that was not deserved. Jerry at Metro Joke had only a attitude and excuses but not 1 sorry, so I told him to F off and I'll use Uber or Lyft for 1/2 the price next time, at least they have the technology to know they don't have drivers and your not forced to tip for poor service. This is a case of bait and switch, you order a luxury ride and get a cab for twice the price of an Uber or Lyft. A decent alternative to taxis. Drivers are timely, usually early even and polite. They can even find my hard to find abode as well. I have used them periodically when no one else can take me or I just don't feel like being a pain in the ass to a friend or one of my family members. My husband's hours are such that he often cannot do the deed without losing major sleep so it's worth the money. Dropoffs are better than pickups, particularly if you use the Smith terminal which will require you to haul your crap across the walkway through two lanes of traffic to get to their pickup spot. Safe though and a good option for decent transport. Not quite limo quality but they give you a price upfront and there is no surprise or wait. read more

Well, the driver got me from point A to point B? So that's something. Listen, I'm not saying it was bad but I'm not saying it was great. I grabbed a car from the airport to my mom's in Dearborn Heights. The driver responded to me like he knew where he was going after I gave him directions but when we passed the first main turn he said "you should be paying attention!" to me like it was my fault. That ruffled my feathers. I made sure to be more attentive. He was just very gruff with me and kind of rude. And when he did speak to me he spoke so softly I could barely hear him and then he'd get annoyed with me. I honestly have no idea how to compare this to others by price as I usually am able to secure a ride to and from the airport. This time my flight changed and landed at a time I wasn't able to hitch a ride. But a flat rate to my mom's was $36. I definitely got home but I wouldn't say it was a pleasant experience. I have used Metro Cars 3 times, all for rides to the airport. On all 3 occasions, the drivers were not only on time, but were waiting outside early. They texted us to let us know they were outside, but not to rush, they would be ready whenever we were. The drivers were all pleasant and courteous. Yesterday, I had Metro Cars come pick up my son bc, for the first time, I was not able to take him to the airport myself due to an appointment I couldn't cancel. I was apprehensive about sending my teenage son alone, esp. during a snowstorm. The driver was outside 20 minutes early, and when I opened the door to walk my son out he introduced himself and greeted us as of he were our uncle. About a half hour after leaving, my son called to tell me they were pulling into the airport and the driver had asked him to call me bc he sensed I was anxious, and he told my son "please call your mom now so she is not worried about you." This was so thoughtful, and has been my experience with this company all three times. Our driver a few years ago mentioned he had become so close with a local attorney's family that their children had his number and he would drive them places when their parents could not, and he drove the entire family, even the grandparents, to events and airport. These drivers treated us like family, and made the safety and well-being of my son as much of a priority as they would have if he were theirs. My boss recommended MetroCars for me to get from the airport to the RenCen instead of braving the taxi scene and what a great suggestion it was! I booked my cars online (one in each direction) and it was really easy to find their desk at the airport, the car was waiting for me when I arrived and off we went. On my return trip, the driver had arrived very early at the hotel and so we got an early start, missing a little of the rush hour traffic. The cars aren't "marked" but the hotel concierge recognizes them for you. Both my drivers were friendly and chatty, their cars impeccably clean. I don't know how much a taxi would have costed to go downtown, but it was $61 with MetroCars (not including the tip). I absolutely will use their service whenever I come to town. read more

Today's debacle starts with being taken to our car where I load my own bags and proceed to wait inside of a hot car on an 86 degree day while the driver is in the restroom. Better than that, a mile from McNamara he asks if it's okay if he stops for gas. Seriously? $100 one way to Oakland County and you are aren't fueled up but can use the bathroom? This is a joke and sad, MetroCars used to be awesome and clearly it's gone to their head. Use a competitor that's more reasonably priced and actually values your business. I usually use them for personal trips. The one time I used them for a business trip, they were extremely unprofessional. I submitted my receipts for my expense report, but my company asked me to get a full receipt with the addresses. I had originally just turned in the CC slips with just the date and totals. They have ignored my emails for several weeks. If they cannot locate a full receipt, that is perfectly fine and I will eat the cost. I booked a stretch limo as a surprise for my family while we killed time during an 8-hour layover in Detroit. The agent I worked with in the booking was super helpful, with lots of good advice about how we might spend our time. But then... We were unexpectedly rebooked on a much later flight which killed our layover. Even though it's against the cancellation policy, since we only found out a few hours before the reserved time, they were understanding of our situation and refunded in full. Started with the reservation. Someone with a thick accent answers "hello". I have to explain myself, then he passes me to someone who is capable of booking my round trip reservation. I am told I'll get a text when I land to arrange a meeting point. No text. I call customer service. Sounds like the same guy with the accent. He tells me to go to baggage claim with further instructions that were inaudible. I wander around down there until the driver calls me. The driver complained that he had been there for 20min and that the flight had posted an incorrect arrival time. So a text saying "call me when u land" maybe? The ride was fine with the exception of no water offered. Of course he had plenty for himself. All in all, the experience was hardly worth the premium over Uber Select. read more

They appear to be professional and the best choice from the outside, but I've used them twice and I never will again. The first time was for my WEDDING. I scheduled a time for them to pick us up at the end of the reception (weeks in advance) and drive us to a very well-known, upscale hotel. First, the driver was an hour early and came inside looking for someone he was supposed to pick up. The DJ was then announcing that somebody's "ride" was outside....and a half hour later I found out the "ride" was for us, the bride and groom! They were early. I don't really want to leave my wedding early, and I don't want to be charged for them not following directions and being disruptive. The worst part was that the driver was on his cell phone speaking in another language the entire ride. He also didn't know where he was going, and we had to give him directions! Yes, to one of the most well-known hotels in the area (just 15 minutes away). This was the only major vendor compaint I had for my wedding. The second time I used them was for New Years Eve. We didn't want to drive home after a big night out and since taxis and ride services are limited in the Detroit area, we only knew of Metro Car and limo companies. They quoted me a really good price. I called back soon after and they said they couldn't give me that price. What? Anyway, after arguing I agreed to a higher price because I felt like it was my only option if I wanted to get home. Hotels in the area were booked, so we didn't have any other option. I called to confirm my reservation later in the night and they said that we have a reservation but that isn't a "guarantee" they can come at that exact time. What? That wouldn't be a reservation then would it. Well, guess what. They never came. We were fortunate enough to have a taxi drop off someone at where we were waiting, well after our "reserved" time, and we were able to jump in. I'll never ever use Metro Cars again. Two strikes and you're out. The customer service was extremely poor too. I guess if you landed at the airport and there was a line of Metro Cars there, it would be fine to get you home in style. But otherwise, I wouldn't depend on them at all for any non airport service, that's for sure. read more

However, I use their service over and over again, for both airport runs and "night on the town as directed runs" and overall, the good continues to outweigh the bad. Based on a recent experience (a corporate event that involved hiring cars and drivers from this company) -- they'd get zero star if Yelp had this category. -- unorganized, our organizer had to speak to a different person every time she called and whoever answered couldn't find the information that had been previously provided to someone else. -- reservation document was incorrectly prepared, repeatedly called to tell them to correct, repeatedly receiving revised documents that were still incorrect. Maybe they should have an on-line reservation tool and let customers do the job -- poor communication with the drivers. Two drivers were hired to pick up a large group, one showed up without any knowledge that there is another driver / vehicle. He squeezed the entire group into his vehicle and took off. The woman radioed in my name, got some kind of confirmation, and said follow me. She showed me to a vehicle waiting on the curb.
