I used Metro CU for all of my banking. Not too many locations and have to always make a special trip into Lawrence or further to cash checks. etc. I do like that they are part of the SUM ATM network. No fees at SUM ATM's which is totally my style. What also is with every Metro branch's parking lot? They all are too small and a nightmare to get in and out of. read more

Person had no clue on what they were doing. A 25 minute transaction took 2 hours. had to call for a lost check, the girl asked me the number, I advised I don't have that since it was a bank issued check. Advised I would be receiving something to complete to put a stop on the check. One week later and nothing. Go elsewhere if you want to be treated well. read more

This became my bank after a merger...pretty soon they will no longer be my bank. First I have issues with the online bill pay. They use your money for three days before they pay your bill. They give song and dance about it is driven by the vendor but they could use another vendor. The straw that broke the camels back was the refusal to allow me to DEPOIST not cash a double endorsed check. I was tryin to depost an insurance refund to my daughter but she owed me the money. I was asking to place it into my account not cash it. Is Metro code for ghetto??? Is the fact they are located in heavily immigrant neighborhood's the reason they have this policy? Went to them for a HELOC because they were the State Employee Union recommended Credit Union. Was refinancing our home loan at the same time with another lender. The total refi of the mtg was completed in 3 weeks (from application to closing) while the HELOC took FOREVER. The HELOC was for 1/6th the amount of the refi by the other company and it was ridiculous just how many hurdles and hoops we had to jump through. Our credit is ACES and we had ALL OUR PAPERWORK back to them within literally minutes of when they asked for it. I've worked in the commercial credit industry for decades so I knew exactly what they would need and had it ALL ready for them from day 1. Finally we get to closing and we were told that funds could be disbursed after the end of the 3 day recission period - which we knew about - but we asked if we could provide a letter / form in advance with voided check to have funds wired on the 3rd day because they only have a handful of locations that aren't convenient to our home AND because they require appointments to go into the lobby. Our paperwork and voided check were accepted and we were told it would be handled for disbursement this morning. We had contractors that were working in good faith because we were told they would be able to get their $ today. Called today because the $ wasn't sent to our bank to pay the contractors like we were told it would be. I was then told that they only disburse funds in person and I would have to make an appointment to go into a branch and have them disburse funds. To say I was angry would be putting it nicely....I was in the branch last week in front of a loan officer/branch manager who when we told them we needed funds disbursed and gave them the paperwork needed to send the $ they never said we would have to come back. SO, today, I searched for a branch to go in person. Only one that had an available appointment today was a branch that was over an hour away!!!! I got there and asked them to wire the funds to our account. Branch manager there said why don't I just take a bank check because the wire costs $25 but the bank check could be deposited and it's honored same as a wire since it's essentially cash (being a bank check). I said fine as long as she was sure it would be honored same as cash and she confirmed "That to a bank giving you a bank check is the same as giving you cash when you deposit a bank check into another bank." Well that's an utter lie I find out because now those funds are back on hold for another day. I feel like I've been lied to, delayed and inconvenienced over a process that has been NOTHING BUT PAINFULL with this institution!!!! RUN - RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS INSTITUTION. As soon as I have the ability to pay off this HELOC and get over to another more friendly and professional institution. Until the day after I die I will tell everyone I interact with on a personal and professional level to NEVER use this company for any banking needs they might ever have in their life. read more

They were good until they upgraded their online banking and it's been ALL downhill from there. Nothing but problems with trying to login to the app. Then customer support leaves you on hold forever after taking down all of your info making seem like that person is going to help only to say, "pleas hold while I transfer you to someone who can help you." read more

If it is next door to you, go for it. As for me, I left Metro Credit Union. Not enough local branches near me so it was a huge drive just to make a simple deposit or any live transaction. I joined MCU because I wanted to use a local credit union over a bank but the tellers and staff weren't super polite and their rates seem to be about the same as the banks. read more

one of the worst banks ever. their customer support not willing to help or find ways to get you the appropriate information you need. they play with your money when you deposit a check taking more than 2 days to make it available, when they finally do they only make a portion of your check available. they are consistently playing with your accounts on what you have available and dont. way better banks out their that are willing to assist you with what you need and make sure you are getting accurate information. read more
