Reese was great! Having a garage door's torsion spring break without warning is a frustrating and stressful experience. After today, Metro has replaced two springs for us - one on each of our two independent / separate 7x9 garage doors. Each time they were available same day and arrived on time, with a 15-minute arrival alert by phone. Today's work was performed by Reese. He was the best - kind, professional, and experienced. He was here for 45 minutes, with the last 20 minutes talking garage doors and measuring for the possibility of having two new doors installed. Our garage door opener no longer worked but after 10 years it was about time. We have a Metro Garage door sticker which we called and easily scheduled a visit. They have just left after replacing a broken hinge, inspecting the lasers and lubing all of the hinges and everything is all great again. It didn't take long if you know how to do these things. I paid $160 for a garage door tune-up and did not feel I received fair value. The appointment lasted less than 15 minutes, and the work seemed limited to spraying lubricant on the door joints and tracks. Compared with other companies that offer a more thorough multi-point inspection, this "tune-up" felt minimal and overpriced. Jordan from Metro Garage door to the rescue! We were having an intermittent problem with the garage door opener on one of our doors - would open but then not shut so I called Metro Garage - someone we've used off and on for repairs over the years. I was pleased to be able to get an appointment just about a week out and Jordan came out during the promised 4-hour window to assess our situation. Turned out the circuit board on the 24 year old opener was shot so rather than repairing teh unit for $350, Jordan recommended a new opener which was $423 installed (which has the added benefit of being able to be controlled from my phone - REALLY GREAT). We ended up replacing a second controller of the same age on the other garage door while he was here. His work was very thorough and he was very conscientious. It took around 2.5 hours to get it all done and everything all cleaned up. He even helped reprogram our remote entry and both of our built-in openers in our cars. Great attitude and great service. Our garage door opener stopped working on Sunday. It is a heavy garage door and my husband could not lift it manually. We had to get our neighbor across the street to open it for us. We called Metro Garage Door and we were told that somebody could come out on Monday morning. On Monday, my husband confirmed the appointment and was told that the repair person would call before he was due to arrive. Jermaine called my husband and told him he would be there at 9:30. I had a balky garage door opener that wouldn't properly sync with either the remote opener(s) or the keypad. Randy from Metro Garage solved both issues. My ~20 year old Liftmaster needed new remotes and a replacement keypad. He also lubricated the wheels and tracks and performed some general maintenance. Now I know that I should use WD40 and any non-gummy lubricant on the door every three months. Otherwise the motor has to work too hard and could burn out prematurely. He also offered that in his opinion my unit is the best Liftmaster model ever made and that it can (and should) be repaired not replaced nearly indefinitely. For now, it's back to operating like a champ. Randy was on time (he called to give me heads up that he was en route 10 minutes before arrival), very personable and professional. The total cost for two new remotes, a new keypad and labor was ~$330.00. About half the cost of a complete replacement. Yes, $300+ may seem a bit steep for basic parts and the service performed. But the work is warrantied and if I run into any issues down the road I know I can rely on Metro to address them. read more

We just had a new garage door opener installed by Metro Garage Door. Minutes after the installer left, we moved our cars back into the garage and attempted to close the garage door. It started down, then went back up, again and again. When we called to request that someone come out to adjust it so that it would close completely we were told that we would have to pay for a service visit. In our minds this was clearly an installation issue that should fixed at no cost. Update -- after leaving a comment on the Metro Garage Door website, they called us back and sent out the garage door installer to look at the door and adjust it so that it closed correctly with no service charge. read more

We asked Metro Garage Door to stop by to take a look at our LiftMaster garage door opener that malfunctioned this freezing Minnesota morning. Metro Garage Door quoted us $610 in repairs and asked to reschedule. As soon as they left, we called another company who was able to complete the job within a couple of hours for $350. As you can see, Metro Garage Door is way overpriced. Metro Garage Door did not seem knowledgeable about LiftMaster and certainly did not provide any value to us. Yet, they insisted we owe them $110 for this initial visit. This charge came as a surprise to us as we assumed their quote/estimate was free. Call someone else. Horrible customer service and mediocre work. We paid to have our springs replaced + full inspection/tune up in April 2019. The garage door still made a a screechy noise after they fixed it, but the technician said it was nothing to worry about. The door broke again in May 2019 (LESS THAN 1 MONTH). I called the company twice to see if a tech could come back out and look at it, both times I talked to very rude people. "I'm not a technician, but it sounds like its your opener which isn't our fault" (you just said you're not a technician.. can I talk to one of those?!) Can we be more understanding and nice to each other? They had no interest in helping me figure out what was wrong after spending hundreds of dollars with them. Had a great experience with this company. Nothing but good things to say. Was able to book an appointment, same-day, after calling a couple other companies that wanted to book me out 2+ days. Not exactly what I want to hear when my door is stuck open with things like lawn mowers/snow blowers/etc easily visible from the street. Tech arrived about 45 minutes early (And only an hour or so after making the call) but that was fine with me as I expressed I would be home all day and the exact time of arrival wasn't a concern. Price was absolutely reasonable for about an hour of labor and replacing three brackets/rollers. The time it took to complete the job was more than acceptable. So for some reason, garage door installers/repair companies are pretty much the used car salesmen of the home repair world. Just a little too slick. A little too loose with the facts. A lot of gel in the hair. You get the picture. Who knew right? In my experience Metro was the better of the bunch. They installed our door 3 weeks after they said they would without any call to let me know what's going on. But it's been over a year and it looks and works great. No problems.
