Rise and Shine took care of my issue and I started to discuss my old, very loud, chain driven garage door opener. The repair person was Dan Deluka, who after the service call, took the time to update me on the advancement of garage door openers in the last 20 years (the age of my opener) and what I would gain by replacing my old, noisy opener. I want to stress that I was one who asked to be educated; it was not a case of Dan trying to sell me an opener after the service call for the door. Dan did a great job of explaining the options and the improvements made since my old opener was installed. In the end, I decided upon a model. Dan was able to install it in a very short amount of time and I was completely satisfied with both the product and the installation. I have found that, although Rise and Shine isn't the least expensive option, it's a company that stands behind their products and services. This means a lot and it's the type of integrity and customer service that is very rare these days. I confidently recommend this company and the management that runs the company.

The Lifetime Warranty on the springs is only honored if you accept the additional suggested repairs. There is a flat charge if you decide not to use their services so you are in essence paying for the estimate. In all fairness,I believe the workers are well trained and competent but the companies businesses model and upselling of service makes me question the value.

Only 4 stars because while on the phone I asked a price for spring replacements to which I was told they range from about $94-394 per spring and they usually replace both at the same time. I was shocked when the technician showed up, did his inspection (he was very professional and knowledgeable), and then informed me they only have one spring available which happens to the be one at the top of the price range and there were no other options. He gave me quotes ranging from $900 up to $1900 for other various improvements. I was disappointed because I know pricing for this fix can be much lower but was in a pinch to get it fixed today and also didn't want to build the $85 service fee into potentially having someone else come look at it. Again, the service is great and the people are friendly but shop around if you have the time because I feel like I was mislead into having options when really there were none.

My plan was to call The Garage Door Guy to have them come back out since they were great the first time and I was quite apprehensive when I saw they had been acquired by A1. With their TV commercials and nifty website, they felt slick and "too good to be true." However, my concerns were quickly put at ease. The scheduling team was able to get a technician, Alex, to come out that afternoon. Alex was super friendly, knowledgeable and explained that, unsurprisingly, my opener would need to be replaced. Despite the subzero temps, Alex replaced the motor in a little over an hour, connected all of my old remotes and explained some good maintenance best practices. The only reason I'm not giving 5/5 is the "Worry Free Club" Warranty was automatically applied to my bill. In a world here everyone is applying monthly subscriptions, this felt unnecessary and I would have appreciated understanding more about if I could opt out of it. Seemed a little like a bait and switch, but some discounts cancelled out the cost of the warranty. Again, not a big deal, but seemed a little shady.
