The decorations (outside and inside), the lights, the sounds, everything is done so well that you're instantly transported into the story. The performers were incredible. Real singers, real actors, fully committed to every moment. They kept the energy high and the kids (and adults!) completely captivated. Santa was absolutely amazing, warm, magical, and exactly who you want Santa to be. Parking was easy, the staff was organized and friendly, and everything flowed so smoothly. There wasn't a single stressful moment the entire time. If you're looking for something that genuinely captures the holiday spirit, this is it. A 10/10 experience that left us smiling the entire night. I would 100% go again.

Is this train ride worth $80 for a family of three? That's the question I kept asking myself during…read morethe trip. Most people probably expect a premium Christmas experience at that price. Instead, what you actually get is a one-hour train ride, a tiny carton of chocolate milk, a small candy cane from Santa that seemed like it had been sitting around for a while, and a cookie... except they had already run out by the time we got ours. There were enough people on the train that they were probably bringing in well over $1,200 for a single one-hour ride, yet two seats were covered with plastic bags because, I'm guessing, some kids couldn't hold their hot cocoa. Little details like that made it feel like corners were being cut. The train staff, however, were fantastic. The conductors were genuinely friendly and treated my daughter wonderfully. Santa was believable, warm, and exactly what you'd hope for. The kids also ended up singing Christmas songs together because none of the staff were really performers, but everyone did their best to keep the atmosphere festive. Here's the funny part: while I spent the whole ride mentally calculating whether we got our money's worth, my daughter couldn't have cared less. She absolutely loved it. To her, it was magical. In the end, that's what matters most to me. I still think the value for the money was pretty questionable--and, honestly, it felt like quite a racket--but seeing my daughter so happy made it hard to stay cynical. It's Christmas, after all, and that joy counts for something.

It was a colorful mini train with a driver in the engine trailing two train cars with two rows each, just big enough to fit a dozen small children. The kids went nuts for this train. There were too many of them to ride at once, but they took turns for the first few rides until some of them started to get bored and returned to the rest of the party. The remaining die-hards, including my son, kept the train full for the remainder of its contracted time. I think it was there for one hour, and my son was on board for more than 45 minutes. The parking lot was small, and the train had a tight route: two loops followed by a dizzying finale of mini-train donuts. The driver moved fast, swerving and accelerating to delight the children. They were all buckled in, with the driver checking himself before each departure, but it did feel a little bit dicey. I am not shocked that this Yelp page is mostly 5-star reviews, with a smattering of 1-stars due to child endangerment. (There appears to have been an incident in September 2017.) My boy and his friends had a blast, though, and no one was harmed by this hour of Trains on the Move. Restroom are scattered but it seemed like the only ones I've found are along the hallway where the tracks are. A big hub where the Amtrak's meets and connects to the metro that takes throughout the city. Coming or going from Palm Springs is my connecting here whenever I'm not driving and dealing with traffic. You can also start here is you want to get around the city with the different color line train. Santa Monica, the valley, Pasadena, Long Beach are all accessible through the station here with the different color metro. There are a lot of tracks so make sure to read the screen where all the stations are marked to know which track your train is at. The one great thing about traveling by train is that you really don't need to be there until minutes before the train leaves unlike flying that requires you to go through TSA. I showed up 45 minutes before departure thinking they would open the train door 30 minutes before takeoff. They ended up opening the door 10 minutes before departure which was not enjoyable for all of us standing under the heat. It's very easy to get around here. Once you enter, there are lots of people ready to assist. The hallway leading to the platforms is only a couple minutes walk so even with luggage it's not that crazy. I highly recommend traveling by train to avoid traffic. Best of all, they do have WiFi so you can get work done.

Some people might say it's a tight fit, it kind of is, but it's not really. Sleeper cars, roomette or actual room, include all meals and will have attendant service throughout. Sleeper cars are deemed first class. Or you can go coach for a lower fare. I recommend splurging on this. Our attendant Chris was very friendly and attentive with us and easy to talk to when needed. Food was really good and it's community seating, so if you're an introvert, be prepared to speak to strangers. Or lock yourself in your room.
