We rented 2 pontoons for a work function. It went well. The boats were well maintained and we had 0 problems with them. They were easy to drive. The back part had a canopy so you could stay out of the sun if you wanted to or sit in the front for the full sun effect. It was a fun day. read more

I give them 3 stars solely for the fact they had pontoon rentals available a week before we wanted to go out on the lake. Everything thereafter was not worth the reservation. All week there was going to be chance of storms so we wanted to wait it out and see if it was going to be accurate or not. The cancellation policy on the day of is for weather only (rain, high winds etc). So it's now the day of a reservation (11-7) at 9 am and it's severe thunderstorm watch all day. I call at 9 and ask if we're able to get a full refund, they say no because they have to wait to see if it's going to be bad weather during our reservation time. Fair. I call back at 1045 to cancel because I see it's going to be bad all day, not worth going out at all for $750 or even a partial refund of 375 to go out for half the day. I was still charged the $100 cancellation fee even though the weather was no good. It's upsetting they tried to get me to do a half day on the water when an hour into our reservation it's been lighting. We live an hour away from this location so none of it made sense for us to commit to this reservation unfortunately. If you don't want to go through what I did with no sympathy, either book another company, but your own boat, or cancel 3 days ahead of time read more

Metro Lakes Marina is a fabulous company to rent from, and I'd highly recommend working with their team for any rental needs on Lake Minnetonka. I rented the 25-foot pontoon this past weekend for a group of 12 friends. The boat was really clean and the 2 guys who helped get us on our way were friendly and knowledgeable. The owner is flexible and provided excellent customer service. Someone was always at the ready to answer any questions, and my calls never went unanswered. I also had to change my rental date due to bad weather, and there were no penalties which I think is rare for boat rentals especially for prime weekend times! read more

Owner called and left a message on our phone after we dropped off our boat rental, saying that we hit a rock and would be charged $85. We absolutely did not hit a rock, nor were in any shallow water during our rental. The attendant OK'd the return when we turned it in, so we didn't expect a call over an hour later. After explaining this to the owner, he said he wouldn't charge us, but that we can never go there again. Absolutely appalled. Beware of bad business and bad customer service. read more

I visited this marina during the "no wake" ruling on Lake Minnetonka. I knew this would be a great time to learn to paddle board, as I'd never done it previously. When one of the owners found out it was my first time, they gave me a private lesson at no charge. I was able to stand up and paddle, learned how to go from sitting and standing (and vice versa) and how to land at shore without a splash! Fantastic experience and above and beyond customer service. I absolutely LOVE this marina! The staff and the owners are both friendly. My first experience there I was very impressed. I had some family in town and we were looking to go paddle boarding. We have never gone paddle boarding so we were excited, yet nervous. The owner had a free time that day and offered to take us on a small tour and give us a lesson! She not only gave us a lesson but also gave us great fishing tips (for we have never fished on Lake Minnetonka and that was what we were off to go do next)! A few weeks later some friends and I decided we wanted to rent a pontoon boat. Needless to say I knew exactly where we needed to go for rental. The boat was clean and the prices were reasonable. The staff was just as friendly and inviting as they were before. I highly recommended them. They are clean, kind, and they are very informational. I have had good service other places, but I couldn't see myself going anywhere else. The customer service here is exceptional! read more

It seemed like we got pontoon #5 of 5... it was clean; but it was beat down. If you rent; be sure to get there at least 30 minutes early so you don't get stuck with the one I got. The first 4 we saw go out appeared to be much nicer. My biggest complaint was the anchor we got with the boat. The anchor was liteally 2-3lbs and was obviously not enough to anchor us at Big Island. When we got back to the Marina even the dock attendents told us that our anchor was worthless... glad they sent us out with it. read more

I love that they do a Groupon offer every year for their pontoon, especially when Groupon does an additional discount on top of the already deep discount. We rented their 24 foot pontoon twice last summer (2014) and had an absolute blast. We don't drink and we're all over 30, so our idea of a "party" consisted of driving around the lake, stopping for lunch, drive around some more, and 5 hours later go home. Most of the staff are all young, college age but they're really nice guys. We already bought 2 more Groupons for the same pontoons for this summer and can't wait to come back! read more

I wish there was a way to give a higher rating than 5 stars, because I would do it in a heartbeat. I just experienced the best customer service I have had for a long time. Dan and the rest of the staff went out of their way to get us a pontoon during the busy Labor Day weekend. They charged a very fair price and our weekend excursion was outstanding. Many, many thanks for the helpful and courteous treatment. This was our second time renting from you and we will continue to in the future. If i had the option to leave a zero star rating I would. We had a very negative experience with this business. Our group rented a pontoon for a friend's birthday and we were wrongly charged $91 for damage on the boat that we were not responsible for. On top of that, an employee named Austin was incredibly rude. He accused us of lying and when we told him we would not be returning for their rental services he replied with "Good." Many of us who were on the boat work in the customer service industry and we were so disgusted by how we were treated. Exceptionally disappointed and shocked at the totally unprofessional and dishonest experience we had with the young woman working at Metro Lakes Marina. We planned a nice quiet fall afternoon on the lake, what we got was completely disrespectful and dishonest service from someone who obviously had better things to do, or a chip on her shoulder. I will never do business with them again and would strongly advise looking elsewhere for your Lake Minnetonka rental or other services. Here's how it went for us, it's long but I don't want to leave anything out: - we showed up for our 3pm rental and door was locked, no one was working, not a great start - we called the # which was forwarded from the business to a home or cell phone, a woman answered, was very apologetic that no one was there, said they were "closed for maintenance". She said she would make it right and would call us back. So far not great, but not that bad. - she called back and said she would come out in 20 minutes, which she did - still promising we'd get out on the lake though a half hour late. - we went inside, where she immediately told us they don't do afternoon rentals this late in the season, so we'd have to be off the lake an hour earlier than our agreement said... she didn't ask, just stated that's how it was going to be. Not so good, but we agreed that was fine. - she then told us that she doubted any of the boats were ready to go, and she wouldn't know how to get them ready, which made me wonder why she came out in the first place. Getting worse. - this was a reschedule from a previous reservation made for 8/28, just for clarification going forward - you could tell just by how she was acting and her exasperated tone she had no interest in helping us, but she went the extra mile to make sure we knew how little she wanted to be there when she told us that we had been a no-call/no-show on the original rental date, 8/28, which was incorrect as we had called to reschedule due to weather, though she told us we had not done so. She asked us who we talked to, we told her a young man, and she said she had no idea who that would be, she didn't believe we had called, basically calling us liars. - we showed her our phone, which had multiple calls made to the marina, one the day before our rental and one the day of the rental, which made her change her mind and say we HAD called, the day before our rental, and had in fact talked to her. Wow. - she continued to tell us that we had not called on the actual day of our rental, even though our phone record and length of call proved she was wrong. - out of the blue she changed her mind, and said we HAD called on the 28th and talked to her "sub", but had not rescheduled our rental, even though we had. She said we absolutely had not, and there was nothing she could or more accurately would do to help us, and she wasn't saying it nicely. Being called a liar isn't something I put up with, especially from someone as incompetent and dishonest as she had proven to be. I have to believe she came out to the marina, realized there were no boats ready to go out, and decided that instead of asking how she could make the situation right, she went on the defensive and put on an attitude of "I'm right, you're wrong, and there's nothing you can do about it". I'm not all about the customer always being right, but the lack of professionalism and complete dishonesty about this woman makes me think she's either a total idiot, had somewhere much better to be, or was on something. I don't say that jokingly, or lightly. It was in all seriousness that bad. This is the first and hopefully only negative review I ever write on here. read more

Made reservations with Shelby 6/15 for an 8/6 pontoon rental for 12 people. Received a call from the owner Dan on 8/3 stating that the pontoon I had reserved on 8/6 had been crashed that day and he didn't have a pontoon for me to rent. I accepted this as there was nothing that could be done. He didn't have another 12 person pontoon available. I then received a voicemail from Ben on 8/9 (after my scheduled reservation) saying I was going to be charged a no show for the day. How can I be charged for something after my originally scheduled date and you told me you didn't have a pontoon for me? I called Ben back and told him my reservation was for 8/6 and not 8/9. Dan told me there was no pontoon. He said he had to talk to Dan. He later called back and said all was good and that there wouldn't be any charges. As there shouldn't be. After this call, it leads me to believe that they still had a 12 person pontoon. When Dan told me it was crashed he lied to me. I feel like Dan took a better offer for the reservations I had made. read more

Would not recommend this rental place at all. When we arrived they were running late, not much of a selection for life jackets. Rented us a waverunner that was damaged and noted in our contract when departing. Then we received a call from Dan Iverson that he billed our credit card 1,500. for damages that we did not do!!! His contract clearly had the damage circled and noted, through gel coat damage on departure. read more

Poor customer service actually the worst, to be honest from the scheduling up until the rental was an inconvenience. The boat died on us in the middle of the lake while we had three people out on the water which were being pushed away by a strong current. We waited more than an hour before someone showed up to fix the issue, extremely unprofessional of metro lakes to not have the boats in good working condition. Also to mention we had to scream and yell for a near by boater to help rescue our three people in the water, yes they had life jackets on but floating in the middle of the lake and trying to swim against the current can be tiring. Even after all that's happened the staff and owner showed no concern or apologetic for what happen, we've express our unsatisfaction of their service to the owner and had asked we be compensated our full rental amount. His response was rude and oblivious saying that my wife's head was in a dark cloud and that everything was our fault to the boat dying and miscommunication of scheduling. Boat died was the cause of a bad motor and battery per his tech. I just want to thank metro lakes for giving me every reason to give them a 0 rating and no recommendations to anyone. read more

We rented a pontoon and when we went to go return the pontoon we were accused of damages that we did not do the employee who's name was Austin was extremely rude and unprofessional accused us of lying to him we were accused of cigarette burns none of us smoke! We told him we would not come back. He simply looked at us and said "good" thanks for ruining our birthday Austin. read more

Caution: double check your charges before checking out. They're not with the times yet on whats known in the business world as- receipts. I asked for one because they primarily have teenagers working there and they do make mistakes. I was emailed a receipt with incorrect charges, spoke with owner and he verified our correct charges and said to call back if cc bill is different. Rcvd cc bill with extra $80.46 charged! Mgr tried to convince me that we had pontoon for extra hour, which we did not! Spoke with owner after mgr offended my wife with words and after a lengthy debate, he agreed to reverse extra hour charge. Great place with decent pontoons to rent, just be careful about charges. Time to update to computerized system and let the computer think and remember as opposed to the teenagers and their current paper system. read more
