Recently celebrated a friend's birthday on one of the Yachts here. This is actually the 3rd time. The first 2 times we were on a different model than this most recent one. Both models were 2 floors generally nice. I did like this most recent one better because it had a front deck and way better seating areas in my opinion. Staff were nice. The bar/snack options were only okay in my opinion. Very limited to type of drinks they could mix and also a tiny bit of inconsistency depending on who made the drink. The drinks were reasonably priced. The rental package I guess required a meal plan - which chips and salsa and veggie tray were chosen. They also sold a few snacks at the bar (a few typical bar snacks). We were able to use our own device to place music via an aux. It was a 2 hr event, we had so much fun the time went by really fast. I have booked a private cruise through Wayzata Bay Charter Cruises for 3 different years and it has been an amazing experience every time. 2 different occasions was on the Voyager boat and the most recent was on the Elixir. Both were 2 story boats with a stereo system, bar on board, and 2 bathrooms. You can take a look at the boat layouts online and choose one that fits for your party. When booking a private cruise, it is mandatory to select a food package so keep in mind that the price of the boat you see online does not initially include the total of the food costs and the additional taxes and fees. The staff have always been so nice and really create a fun environment. It always goes by fast because we are all having so much fun! I will continue booking through them because we have never had a bad experience. read more

We have booked large scale cruises with Wayzata a few times now and every single time it has gone off without a hitch. It is easy to just give them a call and tell them exactly what we are looking for. They are able to easily accommodate and even give recommendations, which is so helpful and seamless. The last few years I spoke with Patrick, and he is so kind and so understanding of every situation and makes it so easy! The food has always been pretty good (especially being on a boat and it's a bunch of food to be served) and the bartenders are always so nice! This was a great excursion on the lake and a time for online co-workers to get to know each other better. We visited from the East Coast and enjoyed the 2 hour tour ride. It was Burger night. We were the last to get our burgers and they were kind of blah. They supplied All the fixings, but the burgers were cold and half of our group would up throwing at least half out. They ran out of food and that was paid for with tickets purchased. There was no refund, not even if a partial amount. If you don't have a seat close to where food is set out, font count on getting anything. Very disappointing and frustrating that they sell a certain number of tickets and have the head count, but they don't provide enough for all those that purchase a ticket. read more

Bought tickets for the Taco and Margarita cruise. Had to reschedule due to an emergency that caused me to return home early. I sent a simple email and they rescheduled me without a problem. The day that I was scheduled to take the cruise, a nasty storm came through. I called to see if the cruise was still on; I was told that it was, and that they storm had already passed through that area. Great! So I call an Uber, get on the road, and get stuck in traffic because the storm had not yet finished rolling through the downtown area. I call them back and they assure me that the boat will not leave without me. Whew! I finally arrive and as I'm scurrying to the dock, I was told that barely five minutes prior, the captain got the word that the seas were too rough and that we were not able to leave port. Dangit! Nevertheless, the taco and margarita part of the cruise experience still went on as scheduled. The margaritas were great, and the price was even better: only 3 bucks a pop... and they take credit cards! There was a small taco bar set up in the front of the boat with hard and soft taco shells, tortilla chips, rice, ground beef, lettuce, diced tomatoes, salsa, sour cream and shredded cheese. The rice had no flavor (but the chips were very salty, so it balanced out!) and the beef was not very well seasoned, but it was still pretty decent. As we were eating, someone from the company was going around to reschedule us for another cruise experience to make up for this one. Unfortunately, since my flight home was the next afternoon, I was not able to take advantage of the opportunity. When she finally got to me, she immediately recognized me from my earlier phone calls and commended me for making down here, despite the weather. I informed her that, regrettably, I was not able to reschedule since I'm from out of town, so in additional to my refund, she asked the bartender to provide me with a complimentary cocktail as well, which was incredibly kind of her. I appreciate that the tour company still allowed this event to go on (granted, at a bit of a loss to them), and that they showed their appreciation to all of us who came out despite the weather. read more

Cruising Lake Minnetonka was amazing. The views are breath taking. Last year we took a tour with Paradise Cruise, which was just a tour and this time we thought we would pay a little more than 16$ and step up with a music cruise. Although the crew members are too kind, the appetizers and drinks are good, we did get the impression from the website advertisement that we would be enjoying music from the 80s and 90s and posibly be able to dance. Unfortunately the music was at a whisper we weren't able to hear a thing until heading back to the dock, actually the last 20 mins to be precise. A far cry from our music cruises in NYC. Many of the guests were from out of town, and our "guide" did a spectacular job of highlighting Lake Minnetonka. The Taco buffet was very good, and our bartender was extremely accommodating, outgoing and friendly. I would definitely hire Wayzata Bay Charters again for future work and personal events. What a fantastic time we had on the 4th of July by taking the Wayzata Bay Charter for dinner, which was delicious stuffed chicken breast with wild rice and mushroom, yum, roasted potatoes and a fabulous salad of fresh berries and greens with poppy seed dressing, cheesecake bites for dessert. Loved the cruise time around the lake seeing and hearing about the beautiful mansions lining the shore. We watched the gorgeous sun set and the weather was wonderful, lots of boats out and about and the evening was capped off with a magnificent firework show. Could not have asked for a greater 4th. We did the Elvis Dinner Cruise on Sunday afternoon (09/25/22). It was a beautiful late afternoon on the water. We weren't particularly into the whole Elvis thing, but we just wanted to be out on the water. That being said, the entertainment was pretty fun. Good singer, fun music. Food was mediocre; a bit of a disappointment. But I'd still give it a 4 stars, but what spoiled it for us was an obnoxious group of young women that were being pretty invasive and annoying. Loud, very drunk, all over the place, etc. Of course, normally I wouldn't think this was any fault of the staff and crew; except it seemed to me that the loud group were friends of the crew, particularly the pilot driving the boat. A lot of comingling going on like it was their staff party and these were their party friends. Otherwise, the staff were all pretty nice. I don't like to think of myself as a fuddy duddy, but I think I would have preferred the brunch or Fall Colors cruise. And if crew is going to invite their friends it would be nice if they weren't so disruptive and disrespectful to the other paying customers. read more

I was in town to visit Paisley Park and other Prince related sites. Wanted to purify myself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka and this was the closest thing to it. The one hour cruise was wonderful. The captain was very pleasant & informative. Met some cool folks & had a couple of mimosas. Being from the South I feel like I finally got to see a real Autumn with the leaves turning various colors. We were really looking forward to our Sunday Brunch cruise last weekend. I booked the reservation online and had even confirmed our party's reservation by phone a few days prior to the event. We had two out of town guests from the east coast at our home and arranged to have several family members join us, rearranging their busy schedules/time to do so. Late the night before the cruise (8:50 PM) we received a cryptic text message and email informing us that our cruise had been cancelled and our money refunded due to a "computer overbooking error." I called them immediately after reading this and was informed that they had overbooked the cruise and we were among the "last booked" so we were kicked off. They did go ahead with the cruise, we just were not going to be on it. It was too late to reschedule with another company for the same time and we had guests from out of town that had a flight out early the next day. If we had been told a few days earlier, or when I called to confirm, we could have possibly rescheduled with another cruise line or made alternative plans. Since we were told late the night before the cruise, we couldn't do that. Had I not read the email late that evening and contacted our family members, we may have all ended up at the dock in the morning, only to be turned away. They offered us an alternative cruise (at the same price - not free) at a different time, but that would not work for us due to prior commitments for some of our guests. FYI we have heard from others that this "overbooking issue" has happened in the past to them as well, so this may not be a truthful or unusual situation for Wayzata Bay Charter Cruises. Absolutely outrageous! We will never use this company for an event again and I would urge "buyer beware" to others. read more

Great experience! We booked a cruise for my dads 60th and we had a great time. The food was good and the tour included live commentary about all the houses on Lake Minnetonka. The staff was pleasant and very accommodating. My sister even left her wallet on the boat and they held it for us. I would recommend! We went on a pizza and bingo cruise in October. Despite signing up for an October slot, no where in emails or on the website did they mention that half the seating was on the upper level, which was barely covered. I came right from work and wasn't dressed warmly... I almost left the cruise entirely, but my husband and I managed to find a spot inside. The pizza was room temp takeout pizza (only ok) and it got dark so quickly that we might as well have been in a bar instead of on a cramped boat. There were 2 perks: 1) wine was only $3/glass and 2) the bingo had good prizes, which makes it fun. Overall, it probably would have been a lot nicer in the summer time. Go if you get a Groupon, but don't expect culinary delights. I've been on other Lake Mtka boat cruises where the food was excellent and prepared on-site, so the lukewarm greasy pizza was a let-down. read more

We did the Bachelorette Package #2 and rented the Elixir for 5 hours with unlimited margaritas & champagne. The margaritas were hand made every time & were amazing! Captain Wiggins, Josh & Aaron were SO SO SO FUN to have on board & helped us with anything we requested or needed. They truly made our experience a 10/10. I would rent this again in a heartbeat for another party because it was just so fun & perfect. Kim, who signs you in & helps with questions at the dock ROCKED, she was so fun & nice and was just as excited for our party as we were. Cannot rave about this enough. Truly had the best time & the best experience. Only recommendation would be to take better pictures for the website because they in no way did the boat justice.
