By now, I've been in KC about 10 years now, and in that time I've honestly never had a bad experience with the police. Whether simply patrolling my neighborhoods or investigating incidents, they were always friendly and helpful. When I was managing a business, the police were always great about responding promptly to incidents and keeping me up-to-date on what I could and couldn't do. Good people, I tell you. But here's why I'm a superfan. Recently a dog had the ultimate misfortune and was struck by a car immediately in front of my house. The drivers just left a huge dog in the road, and animal control wouldn't come pick it up for a couple of days. I was freaking out about a dead dog just sitting in my road for cars to keep hitting and kids to see. A couple of officers got wind of my issue, came by and took the dog a nearby grassy knoll and rolled him in a blanket, so as to not freak out anybody until the animal control finally felt like showing up. They had zero obligation to do so, but these cops took the time to come help us out, plus introduce themselves. They seemed invested in the neighborhood, which I appreciate. Thanks cops! You're alright in my book!

A full report was taken at the station, and it was determined that the check was taken from the post office. That was the end of it. No follow up. Today I called to report a telephone scam. The girl who answered suggested that I don't answer unfamiliar numbers and hang up if I suspect a scam. No information was taken on the type of scam, phone number or other. Maybe scams are so prevalent that the police feel no need to check them out.

The police came and discussed with him how to better solve his emotional problems. The policeman was nice, informational, and gave helpful advice. I visited the Miller Nichols Library on the campus of UMKC today after hearing about the Robert…read moreSutton Museum of Geosciences. Another one of those hidden gems that I've never heard about until this weekend. Housed in a large space on the 3rd floor, the museum offers thousands of items to view and even touch. Every sort of rock, mineral, fossil, geodes, petrified wood, meteorite...is here with identification signage. It's a very impressive collection and it free and open whenever the library is open which has extensive hours of operation. I also enjoyed viewing two other exhibits - "The Kansas City that never was"; signage and photos of major projects that never got off the ground or were radically changed before completion; and the Starr Women's Hall of Fame - which celebrates Kansas City's notable women in the world of business, education, politics, and philanthropy. The library also houses other collections and research areas that were not open on Sunday or by appointment only. I would love to see the Marr Sound Archives offer a permanent public exhibit. Another great free educational and entertaining attraction in "The Paris of the Plains".

The nicest folks and the most organized office. If you forget something, they will issue you a new…read morenumber before you leave to go get whatever you forgot so you sorta stay in line just to speed things up. Generally, they have a greeter for the first half hour to speed folks up and make sure every person is prepped for success. They are quick and to the point. Solid.
