We found MVM because of their unique offering of reusable, heavy-duty totes instead of cardboard boxes for moving. This is an excellent way to reduce waste and ensure your items arrive at your new home safely. You will need to pay a cash deposit up front of $15 per box, to be returned once they collect the boxes. This was great and I wish more companies offered it. We had three packers for three hours the first day which was speedy and efficient. Both days they arrived early which I really appreciated. The second day we had three movers, however they moved a bit slower than I would have liked. One of three of the workers stayed in the truck the entire time and did not rotate with the other workers, who started showing signs of fatigue after several hours (understandable). I understand getting tired, but towards the end of their work my instructions were not followed and boxes were placed haphazardly on our first and second floor rather than where I asked them to be. It took them almost two hours to get from our old to our new place, during which time they mentioned stopping for food and water (but I was charged the full time). I want these guys to get a break and asked if they would get one, but never got a clear answer, and I think I paid for all the time anyways. All and all, we enjoyed using this service and would recommend it for anyone tackling a big move in Vancouver. They could work a little faster, but all of my items arrived safely which was my primary concern. read more

One of the movers removed his mask and got me in trouble with a building manager I almost got a fine..... PLUS they arrived 30 minutes late when 2 weeks before I emailed to change the time and it was confirmed and I call them twice in between to confirm. I could not be more pleased with the service we received from Metro Van Movers. They were excellent on the phone scheduling our appointment, confirming and sending documentation to be signed. They delivered sturdy, black and yellow boxes 10 days before our move to pack our items. Not one thing was broken!! They arrived promptly the day of the move and worked tirelessly until the end, approx 7 hours in pouring rain all day. They were friendly, and careful with our belongings and home. Absolute crooks! I found out my relatives were overcharged a ridiculous amount on the moving service. And not only that, on the day of delivery when they showed up, they all of a sudden have this extra charge 'cause they have to go up just one floor and there is no elevator. Like what 2-story building even has an elevator! And the amount of increased price, unbelievable! They scare you into paying, so you don't feel they will bail on you last second on your moving day. Wife and I were moving out to the burbs. We were moving on a workday so none of our friends could help (work-shmerk), so the wife told me we need movers. A relative had a good experience with them so we called them up. Their quoted rate was about average but they did not charge us the extra "travel time fee" that I saw with other quotes. Farshad(sp?) on the phone was quite professional and answered all of our questions - yes they could stop at our parents' to pick up more boxes, and yes they had blankets to wrap our fragile items and furniture, yes they take CC, etc. Day-of, the movers called us up ahead of time to let us know they were 15 mins late because they got the wrong address, but were super polite and even asked if they should take their shoes off outside when they arrived. Everything was wrapped up and loaded within 90 mins and then unloaded in less than 90 mins when we got to the house. They even helped take apart and reassemble our bedframe which was convenient since we didn't have time to do it. Everything was done just under the 4 hour minimum and the final price came right on the original estimate, which I have to give them props for. Pretty happy overall. read more

My wife called them and spoke with Farshad. He told her that he could meet us on Monday 23/2016 which is a holiday. We were happy and surprise that Farshad would come to our home at 6:00PM for an estimate. 6:00PM came and went! No Farshad at 6:40PM we got a text... no even a voice call... the text said they ran late and could not make the appointment.. I guess we should be happy we even got a text. Time to look for another moving Company that has better communication skills with potential clients! I add this after you comment on my review. Communication and respect our two of the fundamental that I would except from a business owner. Fact - You did a no show to our appointment. Fact - you texted my wife shows that you own a phone and have poor communication skills. Fact - you texted 40 minute after the appointment time and said I cannot make it tonight. (You could have texted before or a few minutes after the missed appointment. My wife and I had to arrange our schedule for you to come to see your house, ever thing about that? If you treat potential clients like this, I am glad we did not get a quote from you! "It seems to me people like you are just taking benefit of this page to make the business like their slaves." What does that mean? You are the one that agreed to the appointment and the times. If you want run a business and have happy clients then show up for appointments! This company had availability for a last minute move when others were already booked up. I hired them to help unload a crate of furniture from another company. The movers showed up on time and patiently waited for the shipment from the other company, which ended up being delayed by 2 hours. I really appreciated that they were able to wait it out and once the shipment arrived they had my furniture unpacked and moved in in minutes. 10/10 would use this moving company again. read more

$115 per hr min 5 hrs???? How the hell can you do small moves??? Ridiculous!

I hired these guys for moving and packing based on the Yelp reviews. My experience was v different. The owner, Farshad, dropped the ball often, from communicating to the estimate to over promising and under delivering. I had a one bedroom apt and told him I had lots of stuff plus a locker full to be moved. He said he would come by to view. He didn't. He said he would email me the estimate. He didn't. I had to keep chasing him to get back to me about things. When the packers arrived they started but then ran out of boxes and wrapping cloths quickly. They called for more and these tiny boxes were dropped off (smaller than a flat pack of 12 coke cans!) So despite me paying for $75 for boxes and packing materials they were reusing boxes which then ran out. It's great they are reusing boxes but then don't charge me this exorbitant fee for them. I had to keep opening cupboards to make sure they had packed it coz they would pack only a few of the cupboards in each room. Then they forgot to pack lots of things like the microwave or lamps despite my telling them repeatedly to pack everything!! This company has movers NOT packers so beware of that if you use them. One of the packers was completely clueless and inexperienced. Once I was I moved discovered items were broken, food had rotten (they did not label the box with food from the fridge), boxes were mislabeled. My PC is still buried in one of the boxes as they didn't label it, despite my telling them it was fragile, important and I would need it soon. Incompetent, unprofessional, untrained, inexperienced and unsupervised. I was quoted $800 to pack and move my 1 bedroom apt. The final amount I was billed was over $2,000. This is exploitative and dishonest. But I paid it as I just wanted to forget about the entire awful experience and move on. To add insult to Injury, the owner, Farshad is rude, belligerent, a lousy manager and has terrible people skills. When I called after the move to explain the issues, he hardly listened and refused to accept that my point of view could be different. He kept cutting me off and interrupting when I tried to explain what I had seen and experienced. Don't use this co! read more

Used them to pack and move my stuff from the lower mainland to Vancouver. Packers showed up on time and did a great job packing my 3 bdrm. I provided boxes from my previous move and they supplied some also. It took them 4-5 hours to pack my boxes then they loaded the truck which took about 3 hours. They did a great job. A couple of days later they unloaded at my new place. Took about 3 hours. Again, great job, haven't found anything broken, yet. Unloaders arrived about 25 minutes late; however, no big deal. I've used Metro Vancouver Moves 3 times now. The first time, they were fast and were very careful with my furniture. The second time, they were fast and there was some damage. This last time, though, they were slow, they were extremely disrespectful to my stuff, and they took some lengthy weed-smoking breaks. When I called mid-way through my appointment to complain to the owner after I noticed my new dresser completely dinged up, he said that the movers claim they can't see the damage. I sent the owner a photo, and did not get a response. The owner said that I should pay whatever I felt comfortable, and I did. I paid for 2 of the 4 hours they were there (which was twice the time it took last time to move the exact same stuff). I would not recommend. They did not use moving blankets, they barely used any plastic wrap, and they did not use any care when moving my things. I will never use them again, and I would encourage those interested to look elsewhere. The only reason I've given them the extra star is because they were cheap - I can use the money I "saved" by not going with another company to hopefully get my dresser, desk, and bed frame repaired and to replace the lamp that was snapped in two. read more

Farshad and his team are amazing. They just finished moving me from Coquitlam to New Westminister and even detoured to East Van to pick up a dresser I bought from Craigslist, all in the alloted time. In retrospect I shouldn't have included the East Van pickup. Farshad even brought in extra guys to help make up for the time in traffic. I feel bad I was not able to offer more in thanks (I am house poor). So I'll just express my gratitude here for now. I am especially grateful for Farshad's reassuring manner and professionalism. I hired these movers based on Yelp reviews and my conversations with the owner Farshad. After my very disappointing move experience I emailed him to share my concerns. Here is the first email I sent him: I can't really articulate how disappointed I was with the service of your team during my move on June 17th. I've decided the best way to deal with it is to share what my Yelp review would look like it if I posted it today. Here it is: Don't use this company! I hired this company for a move from Langley to Vancouver in June of 2016. They recommended a team of four since I have a Baby Grand piano. They did not provide an actual time estimate (even though I asked for one) but as I had time estimates from other companies I wasn't concerned. Their hourly rate was competitive and they were available. Other companies had quoted me 5-7 hours for my move with a team of three. That was what I was expecting. This company took 10.5 hours. This was for a move from a three level townhouse to an apartment on the ground floor. I have moved a full house multiple times and never had a move take that long. The attitude of the team was also not acceptable. Early in the process they began to complain about how much stuff I had and express concerns that it would not fit in their truck and they would have to make a second trip. They were disorganized and slow. At the apartment we were moving into they literally walked from the truck to the apartment one box at a time. They were unable to follow directions and did not put the furniture or the boxes in the rooms they were going to even though the vast majority of boxes were labelled with the room they were to go to. When they left, my sofa was still standing on end surrounded by boxes which also covered my dining room table. Bookcases that I had asked them to place along the wall had been put end to the wall side by side so that I could not load them. And then the damage! I had some art that I left on the walls at the townhouse so that I could specifically tell them they needed special care and should be shrink wrapped before being wrapped in the blankets. That was not done and two of the three pieces arrived damaged. Parts of things (like shelving units that had been disassembled) and some items are missing. Rubbermaid style bins are broken. The bill was massive and even though they knew I was dissatisfied, the head of the team had the nerve to suggest I tip the guys.I will never use this company again and will tell everyone I know not use them. I will post this review in a week. I look forward to hearing from you by return email. I then sent a follow up almost immediately: When I returned home I remembered another outstanding issue. One of the movers put a container clearly marked 'cleaning supplies' inside another container upside down. When I went to remove it, corrosive cleaning solution had leaked in and outside the container. Besides getting covered with this one my hands and arms, it permanently etched my stainless steel kitchen sink. This will be added to my review. After two weeks I emailed again: I'm very disappointed to not have received a reply to my email of last week. At this point I feel I have no option except to post my review on social media platforms like Yelp and report you to the Better Business Bureau. I will be proceeding with both those steps tomorrow. And then again: It's unfortunate that you have chosen to not respond to my previous emails. At this point I have no option but to post a review, report you to the Better Business Bureau and pursue legal action. Move June 17 Previous emails dated June 29 and July 6 At this point I am mostly done unpacking and can report more damaged belongings and lost items. So, here's my review: NEVER USE THIS COMPANY I will be pursuing legal options to get my things replaced and fixed but don't really hold out much hope for resolution since they can't even reply to an email. **Please read Farshad's response** Unfortunately, this is not the venue for a discussion but is the only place he has responded to me. According to Farshad, everything that went wrong with the move was my fault. I had big furniture, it was heavy, I had a lot of stuff, they had to park the truck right at the door of the building, I had the internet technician there that day and on and on. Never once does he address the damaged items other than one painting which was slightly damaged before the move and is now further damaged. He says I only posted to abuse his business and because of price. In fact, I gave him 6 weeks to reply to my emails and only posted when he did not. Interestingly, within 2 hours of posting my review he had replied in this public forum to blame all the problems on me. Be cautious before using this company. Get a quote in writing. They are not affiliated with the Better Business Bureau and I assume are not insured or they would be fixing my damaged things. BUYER BEWARE! read more

Great guys that moved our house. The managers however were was some of the most unbelievably frustrating people to deal with. He made excuses most teenagers would shake their head at. When a treadmill couldn't be moved easily, astonishingly, they said I should be the one move it then (which I did as a 50 year old man by myself). I have moved a lot and have never heard such idiocy from a company. No comeback was too inane to absolve them from responsiblity. Fortunately, the movers themselves were decent men and moved the treadmill (they were the only reason this company didnt get only one star). Rude and ignorant men running this company. I'm not one to write reviews but had to on this occasion I have to. This was not an enjoyable experience. I found the workers to be very unprofessional and rude. I actually hired them on advice of reviews but having seen how slow and unprofessional this company is, i have to say it was such a bad decision. Broken furniture, scratches and dents on walls and floors is one thing , but being rude and adding in hidden costs to make up for their damage is another. And to put the icing on the cake they put our cat in a box and taped the box as a "joke" .Our poor cat died two days later from what the vet called "shock" Then they offered us a 10% discount if we would write a good review for them on the internet!! "Hired 2 movers @ $95/hr. min. 3 hrs.= $300 ( quoted price ) When they showed up ( 55 min. Late) there were 8 movers wanting $500 . (one with a broken arm ) - they offered to send men home but thats not how you want to start off a move . It took them 1 1/2 hrs from start to finish ( small basement suite- furniture only ) and then they wanted more money . Not a good experience. One of the guys was very rude. He kept saying the job is hard and asked me, in the middle of the moving, to pay more than they quoted to me. I chose them because I called a few movers to compare price and they were the cheapest one and the review was good. This is such a bad ,lazy company. I am sorry ,maybe they had a bad day. We went with the price as it is cheap, but i guess you get what you pay for...showed up in a rental truck with a driver who didn't speak English or French. We asked to sign paperwork for insurance but a worker told us they do not have insurance. well that was our mistake, $450 of damages later(we are still finding dents and scratches) and we have been told by the foreman guy who showed up that he would fix it, to not tell the boss. He glued our table together lol, its still broke, They damaged and tore our sofas, but told us it was "already there" , They took so so long to wrap the furniture , 7 hours and they didn't tell us about other damages to hardwood floors, they put boxes on the damage so of course we didnt see until we had paid.
