Just had these guys assist with my move a couple of days ago. I have to say the boys were ON TIME, professional, clean, fast and efficient. Exceptional experience. My wife and I moved out of old home, which is up two uneven flights of retaining wall stairs, with no driveway, only street parking. We moved into a small condo building with no elevator and a very narrow hallway. Already a difficult move. To top it off, it SNOWED in Vancouver on our moving day! I am a very ill and disabled senior citizen on a fixed income. Zero stars for this company for multiple reasons: broken furniture, scuffed furniture, quoted $4200 and had to pay $7100 (the guy sat on my couch until I got my credit card and paid. He was very intimidating.) If they went any slower, they'd be going backwards, outright lies about me to their boss. I had created a pile that was going to the dump with my neighbor. I pointed it out to them several times and yet one person of the two kept picking up the carpet and walking it up the plank into the truck. As I walked into the room, another person was sitting on a stool and cleaning the litter box, which I had put into the dump pile. I asked him what the heck he thought he was doing, and he said his boss loved videos like this about how dirty people were. I had to just stay on them every single minute. From the time, the owner came to have a very thorough look through my home and give me a quote to the time of the move was several weeks. During that time I reduced my personal belongings by around 50%. And yet, the bill was almost twice as much. There's a lot more I could say, but I will close by saying this, that I give these guys zero stars. The owner had no consideration for my concerns. No apology. And although he did throw a little cash my way, it was not nearly enough to cover for all of the things that happened over those two days. read more

Initial impression: 1 star - Called this company more than a month in advance of moving date to ensure I secure my date. I got booked an onsite meeting to give me an estimate 3 weeks after my initial call and still 3 weeks from my moving date. On the day of inspection, they tell me my date is no longer available. What a disappointing experience even before we get anything started. Don't waste your time. Update: 3 stars - shortly after I posted this, Jeff, the manager, reached out via email and was very empathetic and solution-oriented. He offered me options to rectify, which left me feeling better. It's great when companies make mistakes and try to make things right. Will have to wait til moving day to update on the service. Update post-move: 5 stars - movers were on time and very professional. Super friendly and service-oriented staff - I was even offered coffee when they called that they were on the way. They moved quickly and efficiently and got the job done in less time than allotted. Ok so I am a nervous mover, I'm single, I live alone and I'm really picky about my stuff. Total moving nitemare. I booked online with you move me, mostly because I got a rough quote and the site was uber professional unlike a ton I had seen in my research. I freak at the thought of wierd movers trashing my stuff, or bullying me into paying more so was nervous come moving day. About 20 mins before a softly spoken polite gentleman rung to offer me a coffee and to let me know they were on thier way. Hello customer service! With my vanilla latte and a clear, concise, no nonsense final quote they were on thier way packing up my house. They took plants, food, and disassembled my complicated bed. They wrapped my prize sculptures in blankets and took special care with my vintage couch and BBQ. They unpacked in no time at the new place, helped me lift stuff around and the cost ended up being $100 less seeing they'd saved some time from the original quote. I used YMM to move from a townhouse in Surrey to a condo in Burnaby. I described what I had to the agent on the phone and they quoted me a price. I guess their manager was worried the quote was so low and didn't want me to be surprised so he made a personal visit to my place. He agreed actually the quote was accurate. To be honest, I feel that you can vastly help whether a move goes shorter or longer. If you make it hard for the movers than it will take a longer time. I tend to be over prepared so I had everything in frog boxes, staged in the garage with as much furniture I could bring down before the move. This vastly decreased the move time, I think they had planned five hours, it only took 3.5 and was almost stress free. I say almost because on the day the movers had put in the wrong postal code into their GPS and ended up in Vancouver instead of Surrey, oops! So they were a bit late but after that it was smooth sailing! I think when you hire movers , quality is highly dependent on the individual mover person man or woman. In the past hiring movers seemed highly inconsistent and this time I had a great experience with YMM so I would definitely use them again! read more

I later called and after being on hold ("which is typically approximately 60 seconds", according to the recording), was prompted to "press 1 if you'd like us to return your call. You will not lose your place in the queue." So I did. The automated system read back my number, I confirmed and waited for my callback. It's now been more than 48 hours waiting for the callback. No email, no call. If this is how professional they are, I'm glad I booked another company. read more

I've had this company help with our moving 3 times, 2 personally & once with a friend.Their costs are usually a good 1/3 more than quoted. They expect tipping even though they break stuff and leave a mess. They never once protected the floors, and they lift all the furniture by the tops (hence damaging most items). They don't know how to lift furniture and they don't use dollies, and they need constant help and supervision. They had a very big expensive break of furniture during one Covid moving, and eventually we just asked for a small refund because they wanted another company to give a quote to fix. The other company was a constant no show and too much hassle. Movers being friendly counts, but so does delivering the service promised, and all 3 times was not a good experience as their staff are not trained. The supervisor spends the whole day on an iPad, and there's always one guy in the group that just hangs around and does as little as possible to help. read more

These guys managed to change an initial negative experience into a really positive one. Our actual moving experience with You Move Me wasn't great. We did a local move with You Move Me in November 2014 from an apartment to a townhouse. The team that showed up to move us was very nice, but generally poor. There was a brand new team member that tried hard to look busy, but wasn't very efficient. The team leader spent too much time trying to chat with us and not enough time hustling. But the third guy was great. On the whole, it was like we were paying three guys to do the work of two. In the end, even with us actively helping throughout the move, our move took longer than expected and cost us an additional $200 or so. But nothing was broken, and we're busy folks, so I wasn't going to make a big stink about it - not every move can be perfect. I provided You Move Me with feedback via an online survey, after which one of their staff left me a voicemail message to say they'd like to do something to make us feel better about the whole experience - a nice gesture, and certainly not necessary. After trading voicemail messages 4 times, I was irritated with the whole process - they had my online feedback, so why couldn't they just honor their original quote and refund me the difference?! I decided to just cut my losses and write a negative Yelp review. At that point, I felt like they were wasting my time, which was frustrating given our move day experience. So why am I giving these guys 4 stars? It's how they handled my initial Yelp review. Just hours after posting, the owner of the company contacted me directly to find out exactly what went wrong. He listened carefully to what I had to say. He also clarified for me that they had wanted to give me a refund without any additional hassle but couldn't, because they needed my credit card number. So my irritation with the phone tag was misplaced - my bad on that. In the end they honored their original quote. Sure, the refund of $200 was nice - but what was even nicer was having the owner of the company take my feedback seriously. Not every move can go perfectly, which is to be expected. But it takes a company that cares about its customers and reputation to do the sorts of things You Move Me did today in really trying to understand how to fix a negative experience. read more

I had to move a few large items from my grandfather's house to my house. The morning of the move, the main mover contacted me in advance to keep me informed about the schedule (traffic delayed him about 15 minutes). I was pleased with him letting me know early about this delay. The biggest surprise that I had was the enthusiasm and professionalism that he had when we met. He was incredibly cheerful, attentive, and careful in entering the home and moving the large items. He was with two other employees who he led; he was just as friendly and encouraging to them as he was with me. The three of them were swift in their move, and incredibly careful with not damaging the items or the home. I want to note that one of the items moved was an upright piano. I was hesitant at first having a "non-piano-moving" company move this piano. However, they took incredible care with moving it, first wrapping it in protective plastic, before moving it slowly and carefully with a dolly. We traveled separately back to my home, and when they arrived, they were attuning themselves quickly with the construction of my building in order to get the items into my place easily. In the end, the move was incredibly fast, and I was thoroughly impressed. We finished below the original time estimate, making the price less than initially quoted. This is not my first move, but the first time I have hired someone. It was the rapport development and the friendly professionalism that makes this company deserving of this 5 star review for me. read more

Moving is stressful. There's no way around that, however, with the right team of movers, it can be a damn sight less. We hired "you move me" as my girlfriend had used them previously. Normally, I'm a "hire a truck" kinda guy, but I took her word for it and I'm glad we did. My first contact was with Shawn who called to give me an ETA and ask if I wanted a coffee (I declined, but a nice touch nonetheless). Then he and Tony were at my apartment in no time at all. Life savers! They were the only company available to do my move. Very professional, clean, nice guys. Shawn and James did an awesome job. They wrapped everything thoroughly and work incredibly fast. We were in shock by how these two skinny guys lifted giant furniture. We worked with them moving things and they always made sure we were lifting within our limits. This company is great, we saw the owner on shaw tv talking about it. Great company values. The movers show up on time, and are happy to do the job They costs a little more but are worth every cent. The invoice is clear and easy to understand. There is an initial fee for the truck arrival. At first i found it strange but they dont charge extra for shrink wrapping all your stuff, no charges for use of blankets. They have all the right gear. Hire these guys! read more

Unfortunately, I never got as far as doing a move with the company. While shopping around I spoke to a very friendly person at their call center. She provided me with an estimate. I said I was still calling around comparing services and pricing and that I would call back to book them if wanted to go with them. The agent convinced me to book a job and assured me that I could cancel after at no cost if I decided not to go ahead. I agreed. She also asked that if I found more attractive estimates that I give them the opportunity to adjusting their pricing to be more competitive. I agreed. As asked of me, once I found more competitive pricing elsewhere I communicated by email to see how flexible they could be. I provided the name of a competitor and their estimate. To my surprise, they emailed back and told me that that the pricing was firm, but that they justify their higher rates by doing things others don't such as giving me a cup of coffee and a plant. No offense, but I was looking for a mover, not a barista or a botanist. Why ask me to give them a chance to be competitive and then show no flexibility? I emailed the call center agent who booked my job as well as the local guy who was overseeing the job to cancel, and asked for confirmation of the cancellation. I got no reply. I emailed the call center agent again a couple days later, asking again for confirmation of receipt. Again, no reply. A few days later I phoned the call center to find out if the job was cancelled. It was not. The agent I spoke with apologized for the poor service I received. She offered to look into matter for me and see what she could do to keep my business, but frankly the ball had been dropped too many times up until then. I had already booked another moving company to do the job, and they were on the ball from my initial contact. I should not have been asked to bring competing offers to them only to be told that their pricing is firm. I should not have had to go through that much trouble to cancel a job. That's three cancellation emails to two separate people, and a phone call to a third! And ultimately I did all that to save THEM time and money. I could have easily forgotten about it after the first emails and then their movers might have showed up to find no job waiting for them. I understand that mistakes happen with any business from time to time. I see from other reviews here that they do get it right and wow their customers most of the time. I used You Move Me on November 30th 2014 after reading some really good reviews on YELP. I booked them about 6 weeks in advance and off the bat was very impressed at how thorough they were in understanding what my needs for the move were. It was a bit of a complicated move as we were moving two condo's into one house. They did a lot of follow up calls to ensure they had all the right information and that there were no surprises. On move day, Mike and his crew arrived 15 minutes early with coffee in hand. They were all extremely friendly and professional. The wrapped every piece of furniture, even the ones I told them didn't need it. They had an extremely good process between all of them and were exceptionally efficient. I was even more impressed when we got to the new house (which had a very steep driveway) and they would run up and down to get the truck unloaded. When I initially did the booking, we booked a 12 hr day and they completed the whole move in 8 hrs. Saying that I was very organized, everything was packed into boxes (incl. my wardrobe) so the more organized yo uare, the better it is for them. I have never used a moving company before as I am really picky about my furniture. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing a moving company. I called and booked a free estimate where their sales rep came to my house and walked around and planned the move time and cost. Before you read on about the experience, if you are still debating if you should use this company, my advice is go and book it! The price may be a tad higher than others BUT their above and beyond service, personal touches, and knowledgable staffs are way beyond the norm. Having read all the positive reviews of You Move Me, our family have decided to get the free consultation and see how it goes. Mike gave me a call to set up the appointment to go the items I want to get delivered. He was personable and courteous, brings a lot of his experience into play and provided different options should you find the price he quoted to be too high. He also arranged one of his field agents to bring in the boxes for my family as that was the only day possible to have someone at home to get the boxes. About 24-48 hours after my confirmation to go ahead with the move, another individual connected with me to confirm some of the details. She was polite and professional, took down all the details that were required while being personable. The actual day of the move came, the team was split into two teams with two pick up locations. (Prior to that because I was worried that they won't come... previous experience that movers like to bail. I confirmed with Mike and he was nice enough to response to me while on he was on vacation that the scheduled move was confirmed). Brian contacted me confirming that they will be arriving a little early with the first location and the other truck was schedule to arrive exactly at 9. It did and the move began. Brian and Ryan (1st group) were professional and fast. They knew what they were doing; arranged all items properly and wrapped where necessary. It took them less than 30 mins to pack up everything (cabinets, side tables, bed and mattresses) and we were outta there and joined the second truck. When we arrived around 10, bigger items were being wrapped and the 1st truck joined the moved. I get to meet Shawn, supervisor of this assignment, we went over the items that needed to be moved and he then provided instructions to his team and they kept going at it. First time I have seen that a team of movers were so connected, worked as a team and careful (traits that movers need). I was amazed... and so was my family. Having to move things around, you are bound to have things broken, bumps and scratches around the house, however, all I saw was one dent on the wall which wasn't serious and a shattered piece of glass that from one of the Ikea shelving units. Shawn was nice enough to provide a reimbursement and I was happy that he owned up to the situation and resolved it to give the customer a piece of mind. (I am not suggesting to blame the company for all the broken things but hopefully you get what I mean.) One reminder is to spend the time to pack your things if you want to reduce your cost, but anything that you are not able to pack up, You Move Me will assist and pack it up for you properly. Here I thought only Ninja Turtles wore Green but these guys were heroes to me and my friend. She had to move out of her apartment and I helped her. I was the main liaison for communication between the move due to her stress over other things (Landlord issues). This was a very very large move and they did everything. They went above and beyond compared to other movers (from what friends say). I highly recommend You Move Me for any local move. This was the second time I needed to move some items that I could not move in my compact car. It's true I could have rented a van and tried to move those four 6 x 3 x 2 ft shelves and 10 boxes myself but it would have taken me 4 or 5 hours and I would have had to hire someone to help me during a work day. I have had all sorts of stuff moved in to my place and they always ding the walls, but once these guys were done, not one wall was damaged and we went a LOT under budget from our initial estimate.
