    Attended a bar mitzvah over the weekend at the metropolitan. The venue itself was nice and had a few different rooms for party goers to go between. The calamari during the cocktail hour was wonderful. My favorite part of the venue was seeing how they were able to dress it up for the occasion with yellow and purple Lakers themed items. The dinner portion was lacking flavor, but the salad and lemon sorbet they brought out prior was delicious. The salad consisted of arugula, balsamic vinaigrette, cherry tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese. For dinner I tried the chicken francaise with cauliflower and rice. My favorite part was the rice. Overall, I enjoyed the venue itself and the person we were celebrating!

    Beautiful and most importantly DEElicious!! Here for a wedding, it was so nice! There was a fly in someone's water at our table and he was cool about it and just took it out with his fingers. Our server quietly got the manager who came over right away to make sure it wasn't a roach and wanted to take care of it right away. Attention to detail. Husband agreed: super good food! Got the penne alla vodka and the creamy chicken and the steak.

    We had our wedding at the Metropolitan over Labor Day weekend - ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, the whole shebang, for 160 people. From start to finish, John (manager) was spectacular and super responsive to questions and accommodating to requests "Don't worry, we'll take care of you!" was his motto. We were well taken care of, and couldn't have been any happier with our wedding. Some highlights: The Space: This is a one-wedding-per-night venue. For 160 guests, it was very comfortable. There are two ballrooms: (1) the main reception room, with 2 floors, where dinner and dancing take place; and (2) the ceremony/smaller ballroom where we had our photo booth and second bar. The smaller ballroom makes for really spectacular pictures for the ceremony. There is also an outdoor patio area for breaks and smokers. The Food: Our guests raved about the food - the Met really didn't skimp on the quality or quantity. Some cocktail hour shout-outs included the lamb leg (carving station), the mussels, the calamari and tuna bites. The cocktail hour came with buffet stations as well as passed hors d'oeuvres. We appreciated John's honesty in that he didn't try to up-sell us on the any of the menu "add-ons." He worked with us to provide a customized cocktail menu. As for the dinner, we were allowed to pick 3 entrees from a wide selection. One of the entrees, the steak, was actually medium rare (and tasty)! For the bride and groom, we had our pick of any entree choice (including add-ons) for no extra charge. I had the sea bass, which was phenomenal. My husband had the surf and turf - the whole lobster tail was huge and cooked to perfection. The Staff: Barbara, the maitre d', was super helpful. I had no idea what to do at the ceremony and she just gave us marching instructions during the rehearsal, an hour prior the wedding. Because of her, everything was smooth sailing. The bridal attendant was very attentive, running around to get the bridal party coffee, ice water, and platters of food when we were getting ready. The wait staff were friendly and accommodating. At the end of the night, the staff packaged the rest of our wedding cake, our leftover dinners, AND one of each of our 3 entrees that were offered to our guests. That was a very nice touch. The Bar: Our package included 2 open bars, top shelf (the good stuff), all night long. They also passed out champagne prior to the ceremony. They also allowed us to do shots, which many venues do not allow. The bartenders were super friendly. The Value: In searching for a venue in Long Island, we checked out the Swan Club, The Inn at New Hyde Park, Fox/Crest Hollow, and Glen Cove Mansion. They all quoted pp prices that were higher than the Metropolitan for that Saturday night. The Metropolitan beat all of them in terms of value for space, quality and service. Thank you John and everyone at the Met for making our special day a memorable one!

We met with Pat twice before our wedding and he put us at ease right away. He simplified the whole process and made what could have been a very stressful day, easy as could be. He was exceptionally responsive, always one step ahead of everything and was able to meet any request (no matter how complicated). I have no idea how he does it but he made the whole day run so smooth and made it all look effortless. It truly felt like he went above and beyond and we could not be happier with everything he did for us. I could honestly write paragraphs about all of the ways he is the most wonderful maitre'd ever but I think I might exceed the word count. From the moment I arrived on my wedding day to the moment I left, Diana was there to make sure we had anything we needed. From delivering lipgloss and advil to bustling my dress and putting on my veil, she was there to help with everything. She always knew exactly what we needed and did it all with a positive attitude. These two and the rest of the staff at the venue truly made our day perfect. I'm so grateful for them and all that they did for us!

After the wedding we were sent outside for cocktail hour. The cocktail hour was set up outdoors with many tables for everyone. They had a large variety of food options available including meatballs, chicken, pasta, and steak. The food and drinks kept flowing for the whole hour. Afterwards we were ushered inside for the reception. They had menus available on each seat for us to pick and choose our entree. There were several options such as filet mignon, branzino, salmon, and grilled chicken. The DJ was available all night and the drinks were flowing. The bartenders did a great job dealing with all the guests and drink orders. The music was great from beginning to end. I especially loved the different kinds of desserts that were spread out. They had everything from cannoli, cake, and even cookies and milk shots!

I will say I had a great experience with hair/makeup and dress but photography was such a horrible experience. We saw sample pictures beforehand and decided to go with Rahel but the pictures we actually got were no where near what we were given. I will preface and say that we were pre-warned that we were double booked that day and were not going to get the main photographer,however, I am not just upset at the quality of photos but just the lack of professionalism that followed. We ended up taking studio photos that day with the main photographer which actually were edited and came out nice, however, the pictures taken at the venue were terrible with the other photographers. Many of the pictures looked like we were inside a club due to horrible flash. Many pictures we were washed out with flash directly in our faces. Not just that but barely none were edited. We just got a photo dump of nearly 7 gbs of just raw pictures. We hired photography to get professional pictures but we just ended up with a photo dump of just raw photos and terrible ones at that. The worst part is I tried emailing the group about my concerns 3 times with NO response and am just amazed at their unprofessionalism with their clients. I guess once they have your money they just have no regard for you. If at least there was some dialogue about the situation I don't think I would have been as upset but the fact that before the wedding they were very responsive to the silence that followed afterwards is just what is very upsetting.

I would say one big reason is because of Shirley who was there with us every step of the day. I knew I wanted a day of coordinators who are not only bilingual, but also know the Chinese wedding customs. We had many Chinese guests and family members who did not speak English, and this was the first wedding of parents from both sides. I wanted to make sure we have a good time, and our parents are also well taken care of since we will be too busy to tend to them. We had all our vendors booked before hiring Shirley so we booked the classic package. For this package, Shirley started working with us about 6 weeks before the wedding. She introduced herself to our vendors and made sure they had the itinerary before the wedding, attended zoom meeting with us when requested, and she was quick to respond to our requests and questions. Our wedding included elements from both Chinese and Western weddings, it was a 14-hour day including getting ready, gatecrashing, two tea ceremonies, photoshoots, a first look, ceremony, a quick first dance practice, receptions, and three dress changes (7a-11 pm)! With so much to do, we had a tight itinerary, and Shirley made sure the right people was at the right place at the right time so we are on schedule. She communicated with our wedding party on what's next on the itinerary, and guided our parents through the itinerary. Shirley did a mini rehearsal with our parents for the ceremony and reception introduction on the day, and made sure they were there to see our first look through the window without interrupting our own moments. We highly recommend Shirley to anyone who is looking for a wedding planner or day-of coordinator.

I actually had to stop her from reprinting dinner menus because she didn't like the quality of the paper it was printed on. She will be bridezilla on your behalf so you don't have to be! The speed Ashley worked at to get everything in order was amazing!! Because of Ashley's connections I got an amazing deal on my rentals (tables, linens, charger plates). She managed all the contracts, rentals, timeline, guest list, COVID regulations, all vendors, all the last minute disasters (and there were plenty). Due to COVID Delta Variant my guest list was decreasing by the day. Ashley adjusted my rentals, seating chart along with per person cost on a daily basis. My hair stylist cancelled on me the night before, the menu printing was delayed due to a storm the night before, the cake was delayed. A bride's worst nightmare!! Ashley worked all night.. to get me newly printed menus, stood outside a salon to get hair extensions, called around cake places to get a new quote under my budget ...and then somehow this crazy woman managed to stay until 3am the night of my wedding to sure everything was in order and my vendors cleaned out. Trust me when I say this the number of things that will go wrong no matter how much you plan is crazy...this is where a wedding planner is a life saver. Not just any wedding planner but a one that is willing to go the extra mile! I had spoken to wedding planners who charge by the hour. Trust me when I say this please hire someone who is willing to work around the clock and a personality you get along with!
